Greetings!
Hey all!
Normally I don't use this area of the forum too often, however this is an exception!
I currently have 98.7 in the Canthan Cartographer title, and I was wondering if any of you could check my map out, and see if you can find any areas at all that I missed:
---------------------------------
98.7 so far.

(Luxon Top)
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...1903/gw093.jpg
(Luxon Bottom)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: I know the pictures are not 1 gigantic map file, but I couldn't seem to get the resolution high enough for it to seem logical enough to even find the gaps and such that I am missing.
I appreciate your time so much, that I am awarding a free Fungal Wallow, or Temple Guardian minipet to whoever can help find me these last 1.3% for my title! I know these minipets aren't the best, but I feel any volunteer work SHOULD be rewarded. Note: I only have 1 of both, so they will go to those who help the most.
--------------------
In addition, all I ask is that those who work on my map to simply circle the areas I am missing, or simply type out where they see flaws, any help is much appreciated!
Thank you, and any help you may provide is appreciated.
-Silly Warrior
EDIT by Silly: Also, if anyone could tell me how to get my filesize for a full map as big as everyone else...I can't appear to do it, in filesize, or file width or height! Any help is appreciated .

@ DasPony : checked your map, you have to visit Shing Jea again... you missed Quimangs home, so take a sturdy company :P
Silly Warrior : If you're really working in 800x600, i pity you, but then just press m, ctrl-shift-h, click once (to zoom out) and printscreen, and voila, you have a map i can check. If your screen can handle more, set such in the F11 menu under graphics, because the higher your resolution, the more spots i can see...
Tried comparing your maps as you have them now, but that's about hopeless, as i can't align them.
Oh, just a note to those who offer rewards and like : i don't need them, just help others ingame, and make it a better place... You can help mapchecking as well if you like :P

then drop each other a PM ingame, Shiro never banishes the only human in a party, and usually hits the second one to enter his aggro bubble... just take a nice PUG that looks not so smart, then Shiro can't lie down in a minute, giving you enough time to explore...
@ Chris : you still need that Altrumm Ruins mission, a tidbit of Ran Musu, Kurzick part of Jade Quarry (i got in today... alliance fun) and some parts of Morostav.. Grab hench and walk out, that'd do, if you use them as bait and walk on yourself...

Lol, my PC can run the game fine, I just was confused about fog and clouds...and how you could possibly check the maps if they were present? Sounds hard.
Here you are:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...03/gw089-1.jpg
As shown 98.7.
Map is 1600x1200, highest resolution possible. However I'm pondering how you'll be able to check this with all of the fog/cloud cover.
Thanks in advance! And I would love helping to map-check, if my eyesight wasn't as poor as it is.
I look foward to your response, whenever it may be Freeze, and thanks!

Congrats to Chris_nin00, and welcome to our still elusive club of exploratio deliberatus It's a disease i fear, but a pretty harmless one.
@Silly : sure as hell i can see something in those minimaps, though you gave me a hard time with 800x600 :P (i suspect you uploaded something weird), so i just decided to mark everything suspicious. Most will be nothing, and i will have missed something, so if you can still get me a bigger map (with as much quality as you can manage, jpg kills a lot of data, so set quality as high as you can without breaking limits)
I think it's time for a quick tutorial again, so people don't have to wait till i have time to check something... Keeping you updated

Tutorial MapChecking
Mini Tutorial Mapchecking Full Scale Maps
Ingredients :
- The Gimp (freeware) http://www.gimp.org/windows/
- A map of the continent you want, in the resolution you want
(Cantha 1024x768,1280x1024, 1600x1200)
(Tyria 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1600x1200)
(Elona don't have Nightfall... please get me maps)
- Some time to get the trick
Preparation :
Install the Gimp, follow the standard procedure, and try whether it works.
Fire up Guildwars, go to your continent of choice, and perhaps set your current quest to something on another continent (that star is annoying i think, and can hide a missed spot)
{Set your resolution as high as your monitor and/or computer supports}
Press Ctrl-Shift-H, to make all tabs and windows in your screen disappear. (another hit of the keys makes them reappear)
Press 'm', and zoom out in your map, usually a right-mouseclick.
Press 'Print Screen', and set everything back to usual.
The Comparing :
Open the perfect map in The Gimp, and hit 'open as new layer', locate and open the screenshot you made (usually in the direction you installed GW in, under /screens).
Hit Ctrl-L to open the 'layers' tab, where you should see 2 layers. You should also see a thingy called 'mode' that stands to normal. Click on it, and set it to Difference...
By now your screen should have gone completely crazy, nearly almost dark. The fun is, that all spots that are equal, are dark, those not equal (missed places) are lighter. Now finding them is easy, but you'd best click on Pencil in the Gimp screen, and mark them. If you're done, set 'mode' back to Normal, save the map, and see what you have marked. Exploration time!
The screens i sent along are how maps should look when set to difference, and it's experience to see what is and what isn't significant. If in doubt, check it ingame, or do the trick with zoomed-in maps, and align them (the Gimp can move layers, when things are dark, they're probably aligned). Did you find the spots as well? Nice, then your map is next ^^
Freeze_XJ
Notes :
- If you find a spot on my maps that i haven't uncovered, please tell me where, so i can do
- If you know a better place to host my maps, i will gladly transfer them all... perhaps even .bmps if you have the space for them (that gives nearly perfect black, .jpg kills much data)
- Any thanks, advice or whatever, please tell me, and others in this thread, so we can all enjoy.

Can you tell me which linky doesn't do his job? There's about 11 of em in my post, and as far as i can see they're OK...
Anyways, maps checked, but let me tell you that 800x600 isn't exactly great I really pity those that have to work with that every day.

Halk, i've been checking, and it's a nice mystery indeed... I suppose you're using the best resolution you have, so perhaps the only thing you can do is the complete mapchecking, like the Livinston-method. Use minimap ('u'), and compare to a 100% zoom-map, but it's horrible work. I think you need to scrape the walls somewhere, though i'm lost about where. I've checked your map again, can you send a zoomed-in version of the parts i marked? Perhaps you can walk there as well, that depends on how hard you can run ingame :P

The gimp method doesnt really work because of the random fog that you get when you take a screen. Also, can someone find 100% maps without a quest marker on them?
Im on 99.2%, and have compared everything to the zoomed maps and cand see anymore differences. I would appreciate if anyone can help me find the last bits.

Alright I downloade, and tried the Gimp program. Didn't see to be working so I tried increasing the sharpness. And of course, GW was running fullscreen and 1600x800 at highest graphics possible.
So, I did some tries...and failed... see if you can try this attachment perhaps find some areas?
Any help is appreciated .
