Arenas don't count against the map. And they can get to all the places on shing jea. Go to marketplace on the mainland, and then go to the docks.

Can someone tell me how to get to the top coast, above the journey between Raisu Palace & Imperial Sanctum? Does this have to be expplored in-mission or is there another way? Most maps I've seen show this as explored area...I can't find a way to it - am I mistaken?

You're right about the Tyrian arenas - ever since they've been moved to Battle Isles, uncovering them through Random and Team Arena play hasn't counted towards the title. If you managed to enter those same arenas before the arenas were moved, however, they do count, and you end up having a slight advantage over other aspiring cartographers.
The post you quote, refers to the Shing Jea Arena accessible from the monastery. The Shing Jea Arena does count towards exploration of Cantha - the way I suspect the Ascalon and Shiverpeak arenas count towards Tyria, since they haven't been relocated. The problem is that the battle part of Shing Jea Arena is open only to characters level 1 through 10, so a Tyrian mapping Cantha won't be able to access it unless he's been run a major part of the way with the express purpose to.
However, the post you quote is likewise in error - Tyrians can get 100% of Cantha uncovered, as has been demonstrated in this thread.

In Imperial Sanctum, on the north wall of the zone, there is an exit to the Raisu Palace explorable. Walk the north edge of Raisu Palace from there, but beware the many tough Shiroken mobs. You'll have to take down at least one boss at the docks, so bring resurrection and make use of the skill Kuunavang offers. Incidentally, this is the very same way people go to chest farm Raisu Palace, because the chests there are Forbidden rather than Canthan.
I'm sorry I haven't replied to any of the map comparison posts, but I've been busy both in-game and IRL. If it's still needed, I'll take a look at them later, if I have the time.

Because of the festival we can explore the starter area of Shing Jae island as well. Maybe you dont need it for 100%, but it DOES count for exploring.

You're missing:
-a tiny bit in Nahpui Quarter mission, where a platform protrudes into the diagonal wall in the SE;
-the very NW corner of Shenzun Tunnels, near the zone point;
-NE corner of Imperial Sanctum (accessible from banishment path);
-east and south walls in Vizunah Square mission;
-west wall of the explorable Tahnnakai Temple;
-part of the horseshoe waterfall near the Yeti cave in Pongmei Valley;
-a spot directly north of Arborstone (accessible along the west wall of the top 'level');
-north wall of Ferndale;
-west wall of Aspenwood Gate (Kurzick);
-NE corner of Fort Aspenwood battle area (accessible from the Luxon side);
-probably another spot midway on the east wall of Fort Aspenwood battle area;
-the western wall of Jade Quarry battle area;
-at least a bit in Amatz Basin (can't see all because you cut it off);
-SE corner of Mourning Veil Falls (and a spot on the south wall about midway to Amatz Basin);
-a spot along the north wall of Morostav Trail;
-NW and SE corners inside the Kurzick Unwaking Waters outpost;
-SE corner inside the Unwaking Waters mission;
-south corner of Rhea's Crater (west of Seafarer's Rest);
-a spot in the NE corner of the Aurios Mines;
-a spot along the east wall of Rhea's Crater between Aurios Mines and Seafarer's Rest;
-the north wall of Maishang Hills between Bai Paasu Reach and Eredon Terrace;
-the SW corner of Maishang Hills and the NE corner of Archipelagos;
-the north wall inside the Boreas Seabed outpost (and possibly the corner of Pongmei Valley right outside);
-the east wall of Sunjiang District;
-the south wall of Sunqua Vale between Tsumei Village and the monastery;
-the east wall of Zen Daijun.
You might have missed more in Sunjiang District, but I didn't see a screenie of it.
EDIT: A minor clarification. You might heave to pick up the NW part of Unwaking Waters from inside the explorable and not the outpost.

Alt tabbing shouldn't be something that's optional, no one's eyes are good enough to see fine detail differences when side by side. The point of alt-tabbing is to take advantage of our keen ability to perceive rapid changes in what we view.
Using the method, you can easily see all these spots

Thanks Leighwyn, I think I missed the point of what alt-tabbing does. I thought it was to do (essentially) a side-by-side comparison. I'll try alt tabbing on my own when I get home, but I fear that my laptop might not be fast enough for the rapid change. I'll try it out anyway.
Thanks again.

If your PC is slow, do not ALT+TAB into an active Guild Wars! Instead, take screenshots of your "U" window and open them (and Leighwyn's map) with an image-viewing program and ALT+TAB between the two. You should be able to see the differences just fine without putting as much of a strain on your PC.
The only downside is that screenshots are not dynamic like your GW map, so you'd have to retake them again as you progress.

I have just reached Canthan Master Cartographer - I know, I suck compared with most of the rest of you! I say Rock On Grandmasters... So, my question is this...The Jade Quarry, although people say The Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood are don't cound as explorable, they clearly do...since I watched my counter go up as I walked around Fort Aspenwood... How the hell am I supposed to explore the Jade Quarry? There's never anyone around. Do you need ten people on each side or something or is there another way? Also, is there one district which is more active than the English one or are they all as lifeless as one another?

Some numpty in another forum claimed that!! How long is it likely to take to actually get into one of the games in the Jade Quarry? Is there a better time of day (GMT zone) than another?

That's what you get for listening to people from another forum
The problem with Jade Quarry is that it is too far from House Zu Heltzer, and that the Kurzick side is much harder to run than the Luxon side. My R/W can run anywhere on the Luxon side - and so did my A/Rt - but there are too many hexes and conditions in the Echovald forest. And since you actually have to get Jade Quarry to participate in it unlike the Alliance Battles which are accessible from your guild hall, the Kurzick side of Jade Quarry is repeatedly underpopulated.
What I've noticed, however, is that there is usually enough people on both sides for one match, but never enough for two. This means that, if you're on in the evening and there are about 4 Kurzicks waiting (im)patiently in Jade Quarry, chances are there are another 8 already inside. Each battle lasts 15 minutes, so your best bet in that case is to join the queue by hitting "Enter Battle." When the battle ends and there are once again enough on your side to enter, you will be moved ahead some of the original players who want to go back in since you hit "Enter Battle" before they did.
What you really should do, and what I haven't seen anyone do, is organize Jade Quarry nights for your alliance by challenging an opposing alliance. Jade Quarry is, in my opinion, much more fair, level and open-ended battle than Fort Aspenwood, and even though it favors Kurzicks slightly that advantage is easy to compensate for if the Luxons know what they're doing. Further, it doesn't require specialized running builds the way Fort Aspenwood does, and has something to do for all characters: nukers take outposts, spikers kill carriers, hexers kill casters, tanks hold NPCs aggro while team takes them out... it's great.
So try to get your alliance riled up for getting your faction farming fix from Jade Quarry, and taunt/challenge an opposing alliance to do the same on a particular night and/or a particular time. It's a win-win situation, really: both sides can win before the timer runs out and there is a ton more fun to be had while you're getting faction points.
