Has anyone taken this into account? not sure how a stand alone piece will count for a set, but I got that off the guildwars website.
Also, where are you guys seeing these previews of GW:EN armour? 0.o

I'm hoping there will be stand alone helms, masks, hoods etc that you can mix and match with existing armors.

Well, i can tell u one thing, im going to wait and see before buying any new armor. If my current 15k armor looks better then the new armors form GW:EN then im not going to bother to buy them even if they are new fashion trend.
Imo, I think that a number of armor pieces can’t be crafted (like those gloves), but will be drops form bosses. With the introduction of the “dungeon” system (raids) where u have to go trough a lot of obstacles to face a big boss at the end that will have rare drops, including armor. They cant stick with rare weapon drops only, because face it the only thing that makes a weapon rare is the skin, the stats of a weapon are not important like they are in other MMORPG (wow). So they have to expand the boss drops to armor as well.
I think u can craft 3 armor sets and the 4th one will be collectable throughout the dungeons.
I do hope they introduce a “roll system” together with the “bind on acquire” system for rare items (like wow), so u have to go in to the dungeon and get it your self instead of buying gold of ebay or farm gold to buy the item from someone else. Then u actually have to go to the dungeons and be “skilled” enough to get the item. If u are forced to go there with a group of people several times it will be a big incentive to do these dungeons as a guild and to join guilds to do pve activities (raid) and this is a realy good thing I think. Because guilds are more of a pvp thing right now instead of pve/pvp.

For some people (myself included) it's a case of, "I have all this money to spend before GW2 comes out". Obviously funds cannot be carried over to GW2 so people will find ways spend a money in a way that will benefit you in the next game. New armor is an option, one that many will take advantage of, and who knows, there may even be specific armor types that are needed to unlock something in GW2. As Mazik quoted, there are rare and stand alone armor, so I'm thinking the armor unlocks could be a possibility.

Unlikely. Weapon skin driving the rarity of an item is a key part of Guild Wars - it's not likely they are going to start offering new drop types like armour now. Also, armour in guild wars always follows the fact that the armour is crafted for that specific character, which is why only that character can wear it, and why armour dropped from monsters is merely salvage material. Finally, there's 18 dungeons in EotN, and only 4 rare armour pieces. If they were going to start offering this new armour as dungeon reward drops, then there would be more pieces to accommodate the huge variety of dungeons there will be to play through.

Not unless that set is made up of 4 glove pieces. Because the 'rare' armour are 4 different sets of gloves.

How do you know there are only 4 and that they are all gloves? Is this something ANet has confirmed or just speculation?

It does make sense that by now all players getting GW:EN would have maxed armour. What I don't agree with is how all of them would want to get 15K armour because they see it as the "next step forward." I am saving up to buy a new weapon now, and I wouldn't want to have to spend 75K just to get a new set of armour from the latest GW installment. High level players mean experienced players, not rich players, so I'm sure there would be a few who would be happy with 1.5k armour.
Having said all that, I would rather have all 4 15K armours available than 4 1.5K armours available.

Because all of the EotN armours have been leaked and screenshots are sitting in a photobucket account (no, not mine).

And we all know that "leaked" information has no chance of being inaccurate.

Well, one of us will get a surprise when EotN is released. Personally, I hope it's me, because most of the armour sucked, but I know I won't be the one.

They did say the armour in GW:EN would be high end, Prestigious armour, to show off your accomplishments. Even before we saw the armour it seemed quite clear it would only be 15k, but who knows. Like I said before, we've seen all four new sets of some of the classes, and none of them look like 15k variations of others.

The files were hacked from the GW.data file. We have screenshots of most of the armour pieces. What else could they possibly be? There are a lot of people hoping that these are simply extra new skins we can unlock, or the data file is somehow wrong, but that's nothing but wishful thinking.

Perhaps in stead of dropping green weapons, bosses drop unique armour, such as gloves...
"Zap Thundercrest drops Thundercrest's Gauntlets which your party reserves for Gwen!"
Thundercrest's Gauntlets
Armor: 80
Armor +20 (vs physical Damage)
Physical damage by you converted to Lightning Damage
Can only be equipped by Warriors.
Cannot be used in PvP
or how about:
Ritual Master's Gloves
Armor: 60
Energy +5
Decreases casting time of Binding Rituals by 25%
Can only be equipped by Ritualists
Cannot be used in PvP
Just a thought...that would be cool.

I'm just hoping that armor leak wasn't all true. I can see the ones with fur being true, but if all the new armor is just new reskins that would be kind of a let down. I was hoping for some male mesmer armor that wouldn't make you look like a male prostitute, and as far as paragons...well I was hoping for some more "manly" armor. "No offense to you male paragons out there, some of the armor looks ok, but come on". I like the paragons as a profession, but that armor is just..uugghhh.
Anyway yeah, here's to hoping. *Cheers*

If you look around, you might be able to find the link to the photobucket account that had them. Not sure if it's been removed or not.
