Ugh...close this please, mods.

It isnt the Gamespot forums. Its the GameFAQ forums. Yea they are merged, but Toast's account is under GFAQs(Icon status). If you think this message is weird then obviously you dont go to GS/GFAQS much because both sides hate each other with a passion.
Anyways I do think GWEN is a ripoff. A lot of the armors are reskins, the areas are just add ons of preexisting areas, not evne new areas. Extra Maguuma Jungle, extra shiverpeaks, extra ascalon, extra catacombs/Sorrows Furnace. Also from the videos Ive seen those PvE skills look like they BREAK PvE, I could be wrong about this one because I dont know exactly what that PvE skill did but it made that Monk more Godly than a Wurm from what I can tell.
Heroes are good I guess, but 15 wouldve been nice.
Oh and the Bonus mission pack is a ripoff too. Ive got nothing to buy from the Online store except for maybe that Gameof the year Proph edition for those few weapons. So I have to go out of my way to buy the same content again so that I can get the bonus mission pack. NEVER MIND that earlier on Ive spent $100s in that store.

The video was on "dev mode" it was just to show aspects of GWEN. You really think we would get like +20 hp/energy regen skills or w/e it was...If you watched the older (E3) video it was for a presentation which they had control of the mechanics of the game for show. They just used the same footage w/ different voice-over info.
Im gonna go watch both again. lol

I dunno, I look at it this way. This is the last bit of money Anet's gonna be makin for a while until GW2 (and maybe some other projects) releases, SO, they still need to pay their employees and such even during periods of low sales. I think what they are doing is decent. They are pushing for people to purchase their products electronically so that they dont have to manufacture as many books, boxes and disks, saving their cost overall.
That said, it is a bit spendy for an expansion, but Anet has always produced quality products and quite frankly, if they need the little extra here to make GW2 even better, I'm all for it!
I do think they should have included a couple more char slots. I'm kinda bummed that they arent, but its not a deal breaker for me.
It is an expansion afterall and not necessarily needed to play the game or enjoy the game. If you dont like the terms of purchase, the beauty of capitalism is that you dont HAVE to purchase it! So, I fail to see how its a rip off. The content of GW has always been top notch, which you dont get from very many companies. They are nice enough to not charge a monthly fee, so I am happy to support their methods of doing things by buying their products over other companies that force you to pay $200/yr to play their game. And if you stop paying, you cant use their product any more. THAT is a rip off. People really need to do a little research on terms before using them.
Anyway, Buy it or Dont, its your choice.

I don't have problem with the Expansion pack not having 2 open slots because the game is aimed at level 20 characters who are ultimately looking for the Hall of Monuments.
However my real problem, and I say this with hesitation because it is my problem, not ArenaNet's. I think the pricing for slots ($10) is a bit steep when you consider that its competitor (WOW) allows for as many characters as you want. Of course Guild Wars isn't subscription-base so they need to find a way to make money. I was thinking the price could be $5 per slot, that would encourage more people to buy new slots.
I should also point out that with all the games you have 10 slots, and there are 12 primary professions. So you really only need 2 slots if want to have all the professions. Provided of course that you have no doubles of primary professions (e.i. Warrior/Monk in one slot and Warrior/Ranger in another slot).
I have been lucky (or smart) that I have 10 different primary professions. I think once GW:EN is released I'll decide if its worth buying 2 more slots, just so I can try all the primary professions.
Before someone points it out I know full well I can just delete a character and free up a slot without spending a dime. I've had most my characters for almost a year now except for Nightfall professions.

Does anyone else feel like this a complete ripoff?
Burning Crusade was $30, it was an expansion and that makes sense. An expansion should be $20 - $30. But, GW is $40 for a game where they don't even try to maintain the quality nearly half as well? I never played Burning Crusade, but I can guess that it added much more content than EON did. Yeah, WoW has a monthly fee...but, that's besides the point. An expansion should not be 80% of the price of the standalone. It should be somewhere around 40-60%. ANET seems to rip fans off without caring at all.

You are a total moron, the reason why it's $40 is because it has the original game included with the expansion. So you dont have to buy both. But is what I would like to see is what SOE did is that with every expansion packs it has the original game and the previous expansion packs. And for the love of god don't compare GW to WoW and saying that they dont maintain quality in GW is bullshit it some of the best graphics out there and plus it's free except for the buying costs.

What? it DOES NOT have prophecies bundled in it...
It does however, use elements of the Tyrian map, areas around where we have already been and where people have wanted to explore before, but they are most definately seperate entites

Wow, GWEN is a complete ripoff....
Me I dont think so, I pre ordered GWEN & I will buy GW².....eyes closed cause I bet on the devs who are awesome.
Since may 2005 I only bought 1 (one) game...Oblivion, that I uninstalled very quickly besides its elder Morrowind.
I like GW & you like it aswell & you will buy GWEN LOL
You are in the train comon....what is 40$/€ + no monthly fee....are you so poor to feel obliged to post such crap?
Do you want me to buy it for you? In fact thats what you want
Watch the videogame market & tell me please: what is new? what is creative? what is innovative?
NOTHING.....except devs upgrading graphic engines to create nice shaders, effects, bla bla bla......but its still the same fps..... Get ready to buy a brand new graphic card folks......which will cost 350$/€.
http://www.gamevideos.com/
Check by yourself it has been seen 563840 times. Sort the list by popularity (all time) & Crysis is n°1 LOL....Its nice but it adds NOTHING to what a FPS is.....you follow me?
GW is good & will become the best online game without monthly fee.

Oh I goofed, I meant there are 8 slots available and total of 10 professions, but my point was that you only need 2 more to have all the primary professions.
I was merely contemplating out loud whether to buy 2 more slots when GW:EN is released or hold off on that. I'm still up in the air about it, but if ArenaNet decides to lower their price or run a sale on the Slots, I won't hesitate buying them.

I'm getting...really tired of this thread.
If you don't want to purchase the GW:EN expansion product, then don't. Its not a ripoff if you don't buy it. And if you want the expansion pack when it comes it, its your choice to pay the price that Anet puts.
This thread totally lost its purpose and I'm seeing alot of flaming (your an idiot, fool, moron). So I'm going to close it for the time being, as I see nothing good/productive coming out of it anyways.
Closed.
