I paid $50 for Prophecies, got 4 character slots.
I paid $50 for factions, only got 2 character slots.
I paid $50 for Nightfall, only got 2 character slots.
FACTIONS AND NIGHTFALL ARE A RIPOFF!!!! I'm reporting A-net for scamming!

Wow, this is a stupid argument...I can also say:
I paid $50 for Nightfall, got 4 slots...
and 2 for $50 in the other ones...
But, whatever...I'm not gonna argue anymore because everyone here will disagree. Good thing GW2 is gonna come out in the next couple years, this game was bound to die out. All I do is RA and I'm gonna buy EON just for the skills for RA. That's the only fun part of GW left...then again, I don't have too much hope for GW2 either because:
Prophecies: AMAZING game
Factions: Horrible
Nightfall: Mediocre
So, yeah, the game will probably be hit or miss imo.

The Burning Crusade was and still is $39.99US. It's the standard price for an expansion now a days, and it's not like you have to P2P each month after you buy it.

But, GW is $40 for a game where they don't even try to maintain the quality nearly half as well? I never played Burning Crusade, but I can guess that it added much more content than EON did. Yeah, WoW has a monthly fee...but, that's besides the point. An expansion should not be 80% of the price of the standalone. It should be somewhere around 40-60%. ANET seems to rip fans off without caring at all.
|
I love how you can say the bold portion without having played either of the expansions in question. If Blizzard maintained half the quality in BC that Anet had for its games BC would have been a whole lot better. Unfortunately the launch of BC just meant that the majority of players were now in a P2P beta for the first two or so months after release. Lots of the quest didn't work, content was missing, dungeons had to be reevaluated and rebalanced.
Having owned and played all of the GWs campaigns, and both WoW and BC I can honestly say Anet has a lot better quality control than Blizzard. And, while BC released to new starting areas and a new end game continent there wasn't much too it. Within a month I had already explored most of the game, just casually playing, and was already doing end game. I quit playing WoW in April... I don't think I'll ever go back!

You remind me of this guy that’s been on the Gamespot GW forums for over 2 years. All he does is criticizes on everything rather good about GW, because supposedly “they ruined everything that was good after the beta event.” It’s quite sad really 2 years of pointless arguments and trolling. Well thank you for sharing opinion, but it’s a little late in the game to be making this argument about the price. If you can’t stand the price I suggest you wait till it goes on discount or something; because as others have pointed out "no one is making you do anything."

LOL you have again failed at stating facts correctly.
Go buy BC for $30, then play it for 3 months, add in the monthy fee, how much does BC cost now?
Go buy GWEN, then play it for 3 months, add in the.... well nothing, how much does GWEN cost now?

The way I figure it, I've played Guild Wars for over 600 hours. That's (roughly) 200 hours per Chapter (although I admit I spend most of my time in Prophecy). Still, considering most games give you about 40 hours worth of gameplay, as long as I spend at least 40 hours in GW:EN, it will be way worth it.
For those math impaired, that's a dollar an hour at most. If you're like me, and will probably spend 200 hours playing GWEN, it's more like $0.20 an hour...

QFT.
If you don't want Anet to "rip you off" then don't buy from them. Don't like the price? Then don't buy it. It's as simple as that.

When each game was released, I always saw it for $39.99 on shelves so I was kinda' surprised, initially, to see GW:EN also for $39.99.. Of course, later, I realize that this is suggested retail price and that the other three games' SPRs were $49.99 so whatever.
Either way, no; I do not think it is a rip-off. Though who wouldn't be happier with $29.99? I expect that the price will be worth it.

Ah...heh. Gaile's coersion wins this thread.

my 2 cents lol
how can gw:en be a rip off have you looked at the map its as big as the frist game was and its not even showing the 18 dungens to me gw:en is going to have more area then 1 st game as much as nightfall if any game ripped you off it was factions( notsay ing it was a rip off )
if you look at the games and everything they gave you each one added something new other then skills and toon slots
factions added allaince and new titles along with 2 elite mission areas
nightfall added heros and elite missin area also and if you count hard mode sence we did not have to pay one thing for it also the storage was made bigger
and gw:en will add lots more new content then any game did every one thinks expansion means smaller and it not that at all its expanding the game is all it means so when wow did there it was tiny all they have is one game for gods sack you cant expand much
with guild wars there expanding 3 games!!!!
why oh why does somone have to come along to grip think about it 39.99 for gwen no monthy fee and if you where smart you woul dhave gotten it from anet store and get the mission pack in november once gwen comes out there willbe lots to do think about it half of factions and nightfall was easy becuz of low levels progression gwen will have max from the start and get alittle better(max i mean goa level stuff) and all gwen willbe high level stuff.
there is so many reasons to put out why gwen will be the biggest bang for your buck. comeo n 3/4 of the frist game all there was is level 15 or less heanches and party size of 6 or less through most of them game.
wow make syou pay 10 bucks a month you buy the expansion at 39.99 add that onthy fee and its 50 bucks the frist month over the next year in wow you will pay 120 bucks just to play the game along with your internet of say avwerage 30 bucks a month 360 dollars so wow is costing you 570 doallrs to play the frist year if you start it up
guild wars cost you 510 the frist year and thats if you get all 3 games so if you buyu gwen its about 540 doallrs
compare it out
wow=1 full game+1 expansion= 570 dollars for 1st year and start up
guild wars=3 full games +1 expansion+ hard mode update+mission pack= 540 for the rest of your life and you never have to buy anything again and its way bigger then wow better game play better graphics
why spend the extra 30 doallrs to play somthing that looks like a 5 year old kid drew it (yes i suck typing i most likly have 500 typos by now)
bottom line guild wars has never ripped you off in anyway your ripping your self off by playing wow

Zinger posts on Gamespot too?
Think hobbit missed the point (and although he was been incredibly sarcastic) so did Kook.
I paid 30 quid for Prophecies, i got 4 character slots.
I paid 18quid for Factions, i got 4 character slots. But i added it to my existing account so got 2 and extra content.
I paid 18quid for Nightfall, see above.
But yeah the RA quote just makes this whole thread laughable ^^
