That’s because Warcraft lore goes way back to the first concept several years ago. It always seems like when a game develops new lore it takes awhile to establish the fundamental basis of it. I bet you the story line for GW 2 will run much more deep then the first GW. If you notice it’s already starting to happen; people are paying attention to the storyline of GW a little bit more then before.

Beyond that, the two expansions ahve almost *nothing* in common thematically, beyond a VERY VAGUE similarity in PARTS of their settings... there's NOTHING in common regarding storyline. NOTHING.
Sheesh... WOW:WotLK has NOTHING TO DO with GW:EN. NOTHING.

I dunno... they've kinda said "OOPS we screwed up the lore, let's fast forward a few hundred years so we can start over!" hehe

Yeah but the biggest mistakes are always made at the beginning. I know even Warcraft: Orc’s & Humans had some inconsistencies to its storyline, which hardly anyone paid close attention to. They were just interested in the gameplay and that was about it. However it got better down the years.

I nearly ended my laptop spitting my drink out on that one. I just have two to say for the "inferior" voice acting of WoW.

There's always a counter...or if you're you're from the PvP > PvE crowd, just make them PvE only skills then. There's so much that could be done with the mesmer that is just dropped because of the "well this would unbalance PvP". I like the Mesmer class, alot. I like the whole notion of the Arcane Virtuoso, and really wish it would go beyond, e-denial and interrupts.

Not just mesmers but a lot of other classes as well, unfortunately like, an assassin that can actually assassinate things, lol
thats where WoW really shines is balancing. they have panels of people that decide on changes, instead of just having one guy watch a few pvp matches and nerf everything that is used to decent effect. No offense Izzy, but one person can't properly balance a game of this nature. It just makes it worse and worse.

Then all your skills would be locked in PvP and not only that it wouldn't be a challenging class to play as it is now even if all the balances to the skills were removed. What you are proposing is a more powerfull class in the mesmer unlike what it was like in beta or retail. The mesmer class is as challenging as playing the monk class not everyone can play it.

No... I believe what he is proposing is having more utility and fitting the role better. the problem of course being that the game is based solely around doing and preventing damage, and any deviance from that would result in cries of imbalance. again, where WoW shines, more utility :\

That sounds like every fan of every game in existence. Especially WoW's fanbase, most of them think everything began with World of Warcraft and there was nothing before it.
At any rate, this topic is baseless and considering most of the Guild Wars' founding team have worked on previous Blizzard projects in the past, their styles are bound to be similar.

yeah, pretty much. I like the concept of the Mesmer class much better then I like the execution of the class. As for talking about 'being able to play class x', I don't PvP beyond doing some AB for Kurzick faction when I need it, so that whole realm doesn't concern me much. If I want PvP action I'll go play an FPS, or dust off my M:tG collection and go play some FNM.
I know it's rather late in the game to start altering the concepts of the classes, but who knows, with GW2 in the not-too-distant future, perhaps slinging around some ideas, some concepts might make things more interesting there.
(Oh, and part of the reason the mesmer class is a 'challenge' to play, is likely because of alot of the concept ideas for the class were dismissed due to that 'unbalancing to pvp' thing I mentioned earlier. As such they were literally left with the dregs of other classes abilities and told to go make do. Sure they can have some fun as interrupters or e-denial specs, but really, the class could be so much more, but can't because of some balance requirement somewhere. That's what I'm lamenting, and that's what lead to my original comment about mesmers being able to buff/nerf the casting abilities of friends/foes.)

You imply that GWEN is going to introduce something good for PvP.
Last I checked WoW:WOLK is adding an actual open-style PvP zone that isn't instances (which is different than the actual PvP servers)
