I belive it was stated in an interview that we would witness the birth of the race "near the end" of GW:EN. What "near the end" means is anyones guess, but I think it is safe to say this is not an ancient race of elves or aliens who crash landed.
Think about it people, in GW:EN we face The Great Destroyer. What is the oposite of destruction? Creation. My bet: the birth of this race is either caused by our defeat of the Destoryers or their birth helps us in the Destroyers defeat. The will be creatures of life and creation to balance out the forces of death and destruction that the Destroyers represent.
And I think they definatly look like Wood Nyphs (sp?) not elves.

haha i was joking, lighten up. If anyone is an alien, I'm looking at the Azura. Their spaceship clash landed in tyria 5,000 years ago, and for some reason they can't stand the heat from tyria's yellow sun, so they went underground. Or they came to Tyria by that stargate thingy. haha

pretty good point.
Still, I never thought the GW world needed a fairy-type race... well. I know which race I will NOT be playing in GW2

It's funny when people say, "They're not elves, they don't have pointy ears!" Before Tolkien came along, the word "elf" was synonymous with "pixie" or "spirit" or even "gremlin."

I know YOU were joking. I just used your post as an example. Using your obviously obserd theory to contrast with the actually theory of elves helps to point out that they are both obserd.
It's a fancy debate tactic that I don't think is actually allowed in formal debates

I bet their plant part is cannabis.
That would explain the dreamy faces, the greenish appearance and their lack of sadness. They are high 24/7.
Probably they took a bunch of Mursaat or Seers and closed them up in a foggy green room. And they turned into that.

Actually, Gremlins are a product of the second World War and first mentioned in 1942 by Hubert Griffith in the servicemen's fortnightly Royal Air Force Journal. Airmen made up the term "Gremlin" to blame the unseen for sabotaging their airplanes and equipment. Basically, if your airplane broke or something mechanical went wrong, you'd blame it on a Gremlin. The story of the Gremlin sabotaging an airplane was played with in The Twilight Zone's, "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" and later retold in the Twilight Zone movie. It was also parodied in The Simpson's Halloween story where a gremlin sabotages Bart's schoolbus. The "Gremlins" movie of course depicts them as asian in origin, yet still depicts them as sabotaging bulldozers, wheelchairs, etc. The in-joke is that the only person who actually ever calls them gemlins in the movie is the the old WW2 veteran neighbor. I'd say elves and pixies are more synonomous with goblins than Gremlins since the gremlin concept is too new and doesn't have any old-world folklore roots.

That was also mentioned in Star Trek at some point.
Although I forget which series/movie. Possibly Voyager.

from the GWEN manual:
Quote:
The battle between the Great Dwarf and the Great Destroyer is fated top play out once again, it seems. The tome does not foretell the entirety of the outcome, not predict a victor. It only mentions that the Dwarves will be "forever transformed" by this final battle

Smells fishy. And yea, for the love of Balthazar, I sure as hell hope not. I mean, they wouldn't... right?

They can do anything they want but... on the other hand, it'd be funny as hell, if you think about it. But, no, it'd be way too strange. totally nonsensical. no way. no.
