The titles will have insanely high requirements, so that hard-core can grind the same exploitable areas into oblivion (see Sulfurous desert for reference).
GW:EN contains many traits that on which GW2 will be built upon. One tiny detail are those "Slay the Big Bad Boss" messages. This is preparation for the event system in GW2. The skill progression and custom skills is also something for GW2, where you'll have fixed 8 skills, but those will get progressively stronger as you level.
Same thing with dungeons vs. explorable areas.
GW:EN is GW2 Lite. Not saying this ruins GW2 in any way, but that's what it'll be about.
And yes, just another MMORPG clone #58. Korean grind-fest style.

The titles will probably remain the same, but you might only need rank 2 norn to buy armor, not rank 7.

Cut the man some slack, cus he's making a good point. I too hate the grinding, sure it's easy to reach rank one, and that's because well it rank freakin one. Which isn't that usefull at all. I want access to the armor npc, and I would rather go through a series of quests and/or missions to unluck them then mindless grinding. The whole it's optional is just a lame excuse, cos we all now when u've reached the lvl cap the game isn't only about fun anymore but also about gaining cash for those nice weapons and armors, and guess what this expansion is aimed at those ppl. I'm rank 3 atm, but seriously unlike some of you there's only so long i can keep killing the same mobs over and over before i get bored.

If you purchase EoTN it's for the PvE skills. The normal ones are not worth the $40 tag, even for most hardcore PvPers. That being said, most players are forced to grind for the skills they want to use.
I'm going to suggest that EoTN be renamed "Build Wars: Grind of the North - Which is Primarily Populated by Boring Reskinned Enemies".

You have played less than 48 hours and had access to a small portion
I sometimes think people start playing the game looking for anything to complain about, if thats the case you don't enjoy it so bye bye otherwise give GW:EN a chance as you haven't played it yet only the preview

I got to Slayer of giants just by exploring and talking to shrine guys and
collectors and quests
you also seam to talk to them a few times after you hit 25 50 75 100 ect ect ect
and they give you a bonus and getting rampage hunters and boss bonus
gets you extra points without even trying if your just playing the game.
So IMO play the game and the points will rack up fast.

Woah, Norn rank is SO MUCH better than like ectos or rubies and saphs!
Anyone ever think about this? ANYONE! THIS IS IS AMAZING!
Now I can EARN armor and not be behind the ebayers.
I mean think about it.
Expensive crafting items - GRIND
Norn Title - GRIND (but the story line rewards a good few points)
Now from an eBay standpoint
Money for crafting items - EBAYABLE (this is bad)
Points toward title - NOT EBAYABLE (this is good)
This is seriously the most ingenious way to discourage free-riding gold buyers.
I vote this STAYS! Good thinking devs!

DarkWasp has a very good point there, Reputations are not ebay titles
About time we got some "I am not an eBayer" armour (also known as 15k armour)

Do you still need money and materials for the armor?

To the person complaining about "the new grind" of getting titles to use merchants and the like;
Didn't we already have that while gaining faction for Kurzick/Luxon?

I wouldn't say so, since we could buy Amber and Jade and the faction wasn't really tied to any titles.

I really hope they use reasonable materials for these armors.

If so then you can still eBay the mats and gold, so ANet made it halfway, I guess.

I'm hoping its like linens and stuff, like Bone Palace armor. That way once you DO get over that rank mark, the money you made getting there and the materials you salvaged should be atleast almost enough to make the purchase.
You can't kill ebay, but you can soften it's effects.

I'm hoping for cheap (1k) and expensive (15k) norn armors, sorta like how in proph there was (until the whole insignia thing kicked in) cheap gladiators and expensive gladiators.

The armor pieces are 10k each. The new norn armor doesn't use any of the more expensive rare crafting materials. (such as gemstones/ecto/shards)

What the hell lol. I could care less about the skills, theres TONS more to do then create new builds.. tho that is a good part of it too and no one is forcing anyone to want or to get, OR TO GRIND the damn titles to raise the skills...
Oh oh, wait wait, i have an idea!!!!
EXPLORE AND HAVE FUN AND STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT STUPID LITTLE CRAP THAT NO ONE IS MAKING YOU DO.
