(and, if for some reason a particular title does unlock something you want in GW2, you can always work on the Title after GW2 comes out).
In short, there is no reason to "waste" time on Titles or collections for GW2 unless you are interested in doing so in the first place.

im not asking for uber items, just don't want titles that ppl work hard to get to turn out to unlock some items that not give advantages but actually give "disadvantages" when using.... how many ppl actually uses the stuff they can get from typing "/bonus" in gw1.

Personally, I'm not even positive Titles will unlock anything "physical."
In this scenario: a Title only allows you to carry that Title into GW2!
My guess is:
Weapon skins will unlock weapon skins (no use debating what the stats of such weapons are, since we have no idea if weapons will even "max out" in GW2!).
Armor skins will unlock armor skins.
Ranger pets will unlock Ranger pets.
Mini-pets will unlock (customized?) mini-pets.
Heroes will unlock Companions (there will be no Heroes in GW2).
Titles will unlock Titles, perhaps giving you an inherent game bonus, perhaps just vanity.
In any case, who cares? If you're working on Titles just for GW2, then you're missing the entire point. Titles are, for the most part, vanity (with the exception of the Skills based on Titles, but who knows if that will carry over...)
Why expect something more from a Vanity title?

according to the e3 video part 2 about 7.5 minutes in at the end of the HOM presentation he says that each thing recorded equates to a new unlocked
lookskillitem
pet
which will be exclusive and not available any other way.
and you can bet that the no advantage statement from the devs will be enforced because they are hoping to get most of the present player base and a ton of fresh players many of which would skip GW2 if they had to start way behind an elite group of people who had the GW1 advantage.
the stuff unlocked will be nice but there will be skills/items/etc available to the new player which will balance out.
these will be *ive played a long time already and my titles/pet/ancient armor/etc prove it.*
prestige items for those who want them.
if you WORK for something you should take a break because when it is work instead of play/fun it is not worth it

Well, that guy got other things wrong, so excuse me if I don't believe every word he said.
And how will they hand out new skills without unbalancing the game?
Especially considering:

Gaining unique minipets and weapons thru the hall of monuments in GW2 isn't a bad thing, or giving certain people more of an advantage.
They will start the game with no money, just like everyone else, if they wan't to sell these unique things at ridiculous prices, they will have to wait for other players to farm that money. They aren't going to start out super rich, just get that way later.

true enough first part and the second part is easy.
simply have a GW2 skill with a different name/graphic effect that does the exact same thing but the HOM skill might look better in use than the common GW2 skill of the same effect

I agree with Loviatar.
They can give unique items/bonuses withouth unbalancing the game.

if they make it to where, it's equipped, the other similar skill can't be equipped, then find. But if it allows them to bring 2 of essentially the same skill, while other players cannot, then that is unbalanced.

not necessarily
think for a moment way back when those duplicate factions skills were discovered.
this named skill is identical to the factions skill of this different name.
no problems were reported.
they could also have it so it would be unavailable if you already had the HOM version.
just guessing on this

Yes, but the fact with that was that everybody could have both skills on their bars, so it wasn't unbalanced. Giving one player the ability to both on one's bar, and then another player the lack of, and it's unbalanced

HoM is by character.
Unknown whether or not we will be able to "combine" HoMs from different characters in Guild Wars 2.

Account-based makes more sense, otherwise...
Say, if we made a Charr in GW2, it wouldn't make sense for him to gain heritage from one "human". So instead, the GW2 toons acquire something, from the clan of heroes and they're achievements in the HoM

HoM stuffs needs to be non-tradeable.
All I hope is whatever it unlocks is "customized" to the new character/account and thus "non-tradeable". (like the /bonus weapons non-tradeable for example)
The last thing to want is to have people selling HoM minipets, weapons the moment GW2 goes live for influx of gold to flood the market and hog up every materials, dyes, runes, ectos they can buy... essentially hyperinflate the prices of everything in GW2 thereafter.

After watching the IGN video Id have to agree this would be account based. There were weapons, and armor for different classes. That would imply the titles and HERO's are ones available to your account.
I wonder if total PvP players will have any form of monument to pass on to GW2?
I would assume no because PvP is NOT PvE and would, in most aspects, not enjoy the role playing aspect of passing on an inheritance to their decedents.
One aspect I would like to see is the ability to inscribe something written that I can write about my characters history. I am sure that is asking too much though.

Now, to, say, register a weapon in the HoM, do you need to leave it in there forever, or just "scan" it? If you need to leave it there forever, what if you place a weapon in the HoM, and inherit it, and then remove the weapon - will its inherited equivalent/reward vanish as well? I read somewhere that the things you inherit are not one-time. Aka, you can inherit some junk, then go onto GW1, achieve some more junk, and inherit THAT junk in GW2 even though you already inherited things.
And another question: Do you inherit everything in GW2, or is it, say, "Choose an ancestor character to inherit achievements from"?
Some of these questions, if not all, are probably to be speculated on. Though for some reason I am finding GW:EN press releases extremely hard to keep track of, so I may have missed something.
SPECULATE! SPECULATE!

I tought its title only? has it been comfired by anet yet?

I still think that titles will unlock a special emote for your GW2 characters ie similar to the emotes you see with HA.
