The Rabid Bear: My Solution To The Quest
NOTE: THIS SOLUTION IS FOR WARRIORS
Before I show you warriors how to beat the rabid bear, let me give you the background info:
Quite personally, this is a horrifically biased quest that is nearly impossible to do using a warrior. The club you wield does only 15-15 damage and even using standard PvP builds, you're unable to do enough damage to kill that bloody bear.
Here's why it's so damn difficult:
Natural regeneration
Spamming of Troll Ungent
Dolyak Signet
Defy Pain
Even if you get him down to half HP, he uses his utilities to get back to full or near full health. It was extremely frustrating fighting this abomination, and I feel it's fruitless trying to kill him using a hammer build.
So here's my suggestion.
1a. Set up a build using both ripostes (deadly and regular) along with disrupting and savage slash (since ungent has a faster recharge than one of these skills). Use a form of adren gain such as auspicious parry or anything else of your choice.
1b. A must for this build is "Finish Him!" or something that deals high spike damage. This will be your last move.
2. Put the Club of Bears into your second weapon set.
3a. When you start the battle, use your sword and shield. Interrupt his ungents and keep spamming ripostes. If you take too much damage from his leviathan sweep, use healing signet.
3b. When the bear is almost dead, quickly switch to your club and use "Finish Him!". The resulting damage and deep wound should finish him off, allowing you to take the victory.
Remember, you MUST have the club equipped before using your spike skill, or you'll LOSE the battle.
I hope this saves a lot of frustration for you guys. Please note I was rank 3 upon using the PvE Norn skill.

Huh? Ok I'm confused, this quest is well easy.
As I ranger I just used Touch Ranger till it was at 50% damage, and then just beat it to death with the hammer.

Please read my post carefully.
This is for warriors.
I'll try to edit the title to clarify.

Using one of the norn blessings makes it rather easy for warriors.

I just touched it to death, no reason to use the hammer...

I guess I got lucky then, because I had axe skills loaded on my warrior and I beat the bear into a bloody pulp.

My warrior strategy
Hit the bear.
Hit the bear.
Hit the bear.
Hit the bear.
Hit the bear.
Heal.
Repeat.
Really wasn't hard?

Unless they changed it all that has to happen is the killing blow be from the club so just weaken him switch to club and win. Takes like 20 secs tops.
EDIT: Didn't see they gave him skills now, but still easy.

I dunno, the guy seemed to have some serious natural regeneration, so no matter how much time he spent lying on the ground, he kept outhealing my damage...
