Fire eles and Destroyers
I'm a fire elementalist and I am quite annoyed about the Destroyers. I know that logically they would be resistant to fire, but my spells do like 20-40 max and they take ages to kill. Do any of you who have fire eles have tips for taking them out fast, because I'm seriously considering playing through GW:EN with my warrior instead.

I don't want to have to go and buy a new set of skills and weapons to fight against enemies that are part of the storyline. Anet should work around it by reducing the damage, and not making it completely pathetic.

well there is your problem.
its not like its hard to switch to another element.
go lightning, high damage and armor penetration
EDIT:in response to the post above
Why should Anet change the game, just because you don't want to switch build?
are we a little bit selfish, mayhaps?

one would think a water ele would be worth speccing
if something is resistant to fire, does that generally mean they are extra susceptible to the opposite element?

I switched to air. Not much help I know.
Everywhere else I can still run fire just fine, and running two hero MS nukers with Cynn taking up the slack is pretty amusing.

Yeah, I want to hit people the whole time when I'm blinded, it's not fair that I can only hit them 10% of the time... DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ANET, I'M CONSIDERING PLAYING PVP WITH AN ELEMENTALIST IF YOU DON'T.

Sarcasm ism't really needed. Why should I have to ditch my Tormented weapon for another attribute item and then buy a whole new range of skills including the time it takes to cap a decent elite? I'm sorry but the last time I checked, I'm the paying customer, and I want to enjoy the game for what it is, not have to bend to fit a mould.

You should realy have the ability to switch attributes any time. If you play ele there is no reason not to have skills/equip to run at least one build from each line.

So because you play the game, everything should be as you want it?
Hah.
Well then... I paid for 3 CE's and got GW:EN today. I have FoW on my Mesmer, and various 15k armor sets on all my chars, including some expensive gear.
Therefore, I demand that my Assassin hits for 100 damage per hit (160 Armor Ignoring when critting), my warrior has 180 AL, and my Elementalist deals 200% damage (400% when it's Destroyers, of course).
Seriously, are you that scared to change? Your Tormented Staff doesn't matter at all, only the wanding damage is affected when not meeting the req.
You could also just bring Winter...

Wow and here I thought half the fun of playing ele was being able to change and adapt to each given situation.

I switched over to a dual attunement air ele. I have to admit, it was pretty nice using something other than fire magic to pve with. You can also pack a bflash in your bar to add alittle extra support if needed.

wow op you are starting to expose yourself. You will ONLY EVER use one fire build for every situation in the entire game, and complain that it doesn't kick the sh1t out of everything everywhere equally?
this game would be HELLA boring if the same formula always worked. Seriously, this game has many layers of complexity, and part of the fun is using different builds in different situations.
They implemented the whole save/share builds feature for this. If you continually insist on using your same build AND complain that it doesn't work against creatures with resistances to it, you might want to move onto something more 'fair'......like checkers.

I'd suggest rock, paper, scissors so there wont be any complaints about who gets to go first.

Not at all I have many fire elites and various builds for other elements, but no good elites for those elements, or weapons or the cash to gain them. If I could afford to create bars for every stat I would, and I am NOT expecting the same build to work everywhere. I suppose I just don't like to change much, old habits die hard.

fire eles are completely obsolete anyways. why in the world would anyone use those pathetic, high energy aoe, when a warrior with splinter weapon costs 1/5th the energy and do 3x the damage?
so to the OP: switch to air. at least you'll serve a useful purpose.

Maybe so, but unfortunately, that is not a valid argument for your plea to make Destroyers more vulnerable to Fire. As everyone here is agreeing upon, just adapt. If you won't adapt, let your team adapt... bring a Ranger with Winter, or just change to /R secondary yourself to bring it along.

wow we have gone from one extreme (I'll only ever use fire ele) to the other extreme (fire eles are completely obsolete)
the truth lies in between, and is situational

The game IS what it is with fire resistant destroyers. It also is what it is with timed missions in factions, and a host of other things that many people find less than appealing. And there is no "mould" to fit into (unless you're a die-hard subscriber to the cookie-cutter mentality) for best success in many of the later stages of the PvE storylines. Throughout each of the 3 chapters, there are different challenges that really go better with special treatment: Spoil Victor against Shiro, for example. With destroyers, the thing to do is switch out of the fire line to water magic, OR, you could bring [skill]Winter[/skill] on any of your party members' skill bars', and keep going with your fire nuking, SF spamming, cookie cutter build. (This has been proven to be quite effective against Titans in the RoF missions)
