For Those Thinking About Getting GW:EN (Must Read!)
please don't listen to everyone that complains on this forum.
GuildWars: Eye of the North is an amazing expansion to the game.
The people that keep complaining "Oh i played 12 hours and i beat the game already" really just have no lives. where's the sleep/ homework/ work/ friends come in? 12/48 hours on guildwars. huh?
well.. enough ranting on that..
This game is more leaned towards casual players. it took people 12 hours to beat the game.. but they had to do no side quests. when you do side quests it takes much longer. Also if you do dungeons. There is plenty of time to spend in dungeons. and they're WAY fun!
When people say "oh my god Grind for titles blah!"
doesn't every game have you grind? and really.. you don't absolutely HAVE to grind (for casual players) but people that beat the game quick.. Anet has to add in something for them. so Anet adds in grind titles so that it will keep addicts busy for a while longer.
but really.. it's not even that bad. Unless you find killing boring...
to wrap this up.. this whole point of the thread is GW:EN is a really great game so far!
Dungeons, New Storyline, New Heroes, HoM, New Weapons, New Aspects to the game, Mini Games, An Enviornment Better Looking Than Ever Before, And So Much More!
seriously.. it's great.
To all of you whiners out there.. i'm sure you probably want to come into this thread and complain some more.. but i'm asking you nicely. Please Keep It To Yourself!
Thank you for reading my book.

We also had the preview weekend which could contribute to the reason why some people finished it so quick.

Reading My Book? That's a first.
I completely agree with you as well. Nothing but complaints about this game, even though it is by far the most fun I have had in the Guild Wars universe. If the hardcore don't want a grind, what in the world COULD they want?
HOWEVER... I was disapointed that there was NOTHING involving PvP added to this expansion... I mean not even a Random Arena map? That just seems like a gigantic oversight for a game that is supposed to be half PvE half PvP. Hopefully we will see a downloadable PvP expansion in the future? (a la Sorrows Furnace, only PvP)

Whew. I was already getting mad because I thought this topic would also whine about how horrible GWEN is.
It's great.

Well dude,
After 2 years of playing GW I only want 1 thing: That Anet keeps off its sticky nerfbatfingers once a game -or expansion- is released! Because I really hate it when rules change while playing. This said, its obvious that what I read about GW:EN in this forum is not exactly encouraging me to buy it. But I'm patient. I'll wait and see how it turns out, and maybe I buy it anyway once the price drops in next years sales season!

If one plows straight through the primary quests I can see how it's over quickly. But theres a reason why there are secondary quests and mini games.

I completly agree with the start poster.
I'm enjoying GW:EN expansion more than I enjoyed Nightfall.
But everyone is entitle to their opinion.
Cheers

yup Gwen rocks
I am only taking my time Exploring every part taking it all in
seeing what the designers put there heart and sole and imagination into
that they wanted us to see in the environment.
Sure some play it as a game to be beaten asap thats there choice
but to others like me it's the whole world to take in and enjoy
wherever you look.
Now the Killer Bunny Lair is another matter entirely. lol

That's pretty pathetic. "plz dont listen to them, listen to me, im right, theyre not, k?"
I like GWEN so far but the way you're trying to convince others that you're right is ridiculous

GWEN is excellent. Without doubt some of the best content ever in GW.

I'm just saying GWEN is amazing..
if you look at all of the thread titles in this forum.. doesnt it kinda seem like GWEN sucks?
that's because stupid people complain all the time instead of appreciating a good game.

I think perhaps people had high hopes for some new features and were vastly dissapointed when things turned out another way. Which is why perhaps the great amount of complaints you are seeing are overshadowing the good remarks. That said GW:EN is a great game, but you can't deny some tweaks here and there would go a long way to making it more enjoyable.

If people complain and have good reasons to complain (and arguments too) then it means they're right, eh?
If someone doesn't like the idea of title farming just to get new armour then I guess it's called 'freedom of speech'

If you diminish people on the other side of an argument with name calling and illogical sentences (as Sephir pointed out), then youre just stooping to their level.
Personally I'm disappointed about the campaign as are a lotta people. That said, for me as well as many others its for very specific reasons. I do see some really cool additions that I think were well done such as HoM, titles, unique mini-games and repeatable dungeons. However I'm displeased about how it seems to me very little time and effort was put into weapons and armor and environment (landscape and mobs) skins as they pretty much all look like reskins of existing areas and items. I think someone thinking of buying the game yet wants to know whats the good and bad of it should be able to know. Im not coming out and saying "It sucks, It sucks," I'm just sayin theres a good side and a bad, and for what I wanted out of the game, I'm disappointed.

Right you are. The one who first came up with "get a life" or "you have no life" should be shot. It's annoying as hell. It basically says "you're sad and I'm better than you" even though they know nothing. Gotta love teh internetz.
On topic. I haven't bought GWEN yet and I wasn't planning to, but this topic (and other things) makes me want to buy it. Would you say it's better than Nightfall?

The thing that gets a lot of people is the cost to value ratio of GWEN. It doesn't come with two free slots or two extra professions and the price is at $39.99. Letting that go and comparing the rest of the game content by content wise there are somethings not up to par to the other campaigns. Armor for example feels rushed compared to Factions or even nightfall. Endgame greens are underwhelming and thats sort of expected. The primary feels short compared to proph and nightfall. The sides maybe the only thing that is greater in value over the other campaigns but that too remains to be seen.

Making sweeping insults at those who have taken issue with any aspect of the game, is not a good way to ask people to be nice. Besides that, you're right. GW:EN is an outstanding game - it's easily more fun than previous incarnations of GW and, visually, very slick indeed.
That doesn't mean there aren't issues that are significant to many, with some of the more peripheral aspects of the game (which I won't bring up here). Perhaps if those who are loving every aspect of GW:EN had entered the threads, where criticisms have been raised, a little more positively (without throwing around all the insults or arrogant arguments of the "that's just not for you, that's for me" nature), then we wouldn't be under the rather large cloud, that we currently seem to be. Players should be able to raise concerns about issues that bother them, without the inevitable chorus of "whiner"! That doesn't mean people have to agree, but those threads have tended to become rather ugly because of the attitudes on both sides.
