or even better.. run all the way across the map to aggro something and then run back and start casting at another target..
Zhed keeps doing that with me.. Vekk sometimes.. ><
And for some reason when rezzing they chose eles first and then monks and then you.. i always have to force res me..
i was doing a quest earlier and my whole party died except Vekk.. i flag him back and then start rezzing.. the closest to him were Dunkoro, Zhed and Sousuke.. who does he chose first.. Sousuke.. then Zhed.. then Dunkoro.. then starts casting at the enemies (WHILE FLAGGED BACK)and zhed resses the rest :\

Maybe its me but my heroes and hench are just that stupid to not run away from AoE spells. I'm always looking at what I'm attacking then next thing I'll know, Sandstorm is thrown out from the enemy and I'm guessing they aimed for the casters and what do they do? They just stand in it, its the same if you have protective wards, can't be be programmed to try to stand near them?
Also when Iwas in the burning forest of EotN, I walked to a point and my henchman were behind just standing near some trees on fire not bothering moving and just burning to death...
If only Hero/Henchmen AI were as smart as enemy AI...

I've had pretty good hero/hench groups so far. Lina's kept me as protected as I ever expect a hench to do, and Zho's interrupts are the shit. I have yet to see her fail. No complaints about Devona either, which surprises me because she used to be as bad as Koss about racing to aggro things off the compass.
On the downside... Mhenlo does like to tank still. As someone already mentioned, he'll rush to absorb the first hits. Even flagging won't keep him in the back. What a trooper. >_> I've also had issues with Gwen not running from enemy tanks because she's frantically waiting for something or other to recharge.
I've also had problems with Talon trying to ignore my flag and run toward far-away enemies I've targeted (but not called), but that's nothing new. 9_9

Ehh I actually have no idea if Herta is useless, because I'm never in the wards she supposedly puts up...I actually bring a lot of defense (2 henchmen monks + Herta + SS Livia + 3 copies of Aegis + Watch Yourself!), and henchmen are pretty good at killing people, so I haven't had that much trouble so far.
I really have to point out how annoying it is when 7/8 of your team is squishy, and all of them seem to rush AHEAD of me, the warrior, to gather agroo? I really don't understand why they have to walk closer than casting range, it's really irritating sometimes when I try to gather monster agroo...

It seems like the Heroes in GWEN seem to shuttle back and forth more. I find myself using the "lock on target" button much more now. Also, the AI seems to not understand how to use certain skills, which is fine- but couldn't we at least get some official notice on what skills are bugged with heroes? For example, the only way Ogden Stoned healer will use Signet of Devotion is if I push the button for him.

I could add a lot of suggestions here, but instead I'm just going to suggest the #1 on my list.
A "Stay there, don't move, ever, not even if someones dieing out of range, or you feel like randomly leeroy'ing, Yes, even you dunkoro, JUST STAY THE **** THERE." Button. Please.

I dont have a huge problem with aggro control. For what you're using (computer AI), its just not gonna be able to know every move on the map that you wanna do. I think the implementation of generally being able to control your henchie and specific hero movement is great for what I'm giving up by not going with real people.
I do find there to be many problems with heroes that I found even before GW:EN, so I dont think its a matter of all of a sudden somethings different. The problems I've always had is as the OP pointed out: mobs are smarter than my heroes. before the update that reduced the mobs running out of aoe in normal mode, it was undeniable that heroes were much much worse than some simple-minded mob at avoiding aoe. I still find that after aoe has found a place in pve again, heros still suck at getting out of aoe. A previous poster was absolutely right: if a mob sends in a maelstorm, my hero party is dead. They will continue to cast while in it for like 3-4 seconds, while all the damage accrues.
I've noticed it before, but its become increasingly annoying in GW:EN, where when i click for a hero to use a specific skill, if that hero was just about to use the skill and right before I click on the icon, he/she starts to cast, he/she will stop casting, thus using up energy, and then recast, thus using up twice the amount of energy. In using Gwen as a hero sometimes, this is really frustrating with backfire....as it uses 30 en instead of 30. I dont know if that kind of thing can be fixed (in pure logistics, it seems like it could) but its a royal pain.
Overall I agree that heroes could be pumped up a bit so that they act better than henchies and the difference isnt just that you get to choose their skill set, but I disagree that GW:EN has brought about a stupider line of heroes...but hey, maybe I just didnt notice....

Yes, this is always happening, and it seems a lot worse in GW:EN. I don't know if Anet just half-assed pathing altogether or what. I have this problem personally in towns as well. I'll hit ALT to find the NPC, and then I'll click him/her, hit Spacebar so my character auto-runs to it, only to find that she just hits a wall and comes to a complete stop, rather than trying to go around. Its even worse when the NPCs are behind shop stands.
I'm hoping its just a simple pathing problem that they will fix in a later update, but it makes playing Warrior as a tank quite difficult.

Neither is the rest of the team. Usually, I'll look for Herta as soon as the melees break aggro, and I'll throw the Flag down in the dead center of the Ward Vs Melee. Usually, Mhenlo and Lina continue to kite the melee mobs OUT of the Ward, and I continually have to flag them back into it. Can't they add some sort of Ward detection for these buggers?

Can't comment on the Henchmen as I've only used them once to test out a new Smiter build.. but Heroes.. bloody stupid heroes.. If I could, I'd punch them all in the genitals. I settle on flagging them into hoards & watching them die while I bitch at the monitor. Repeatedly. Then I map out & feel better for a while.
Main problems I've had:
- They don't move out of AoE. Ever. None of them. They all just happily stand there and die, even if I flag them to move.
- They constantly switch from the called target. A few times now they've even ignored the "lock onto target" function and attacked whatever they fancied.
- A few of the Heroes have developed some form of mania that causes brief lapses of sanity, during which they run off in a random direction, aggro some group of badies, and then run back & drop it on me. At this point they take off running again & leave me to die.
The irony of the last one isn't lost on me. I do it to them ALL the time & I suspect Anet is playing a cruel joke on me.

I said it in the other thread, so I'll say it here.
I'm walking along, wondering around Varajar Fells, when...
- Devona and Jora decide to hold a picnic in the middle of a mass-agro.
- Ogden stands around, admiring the scenery while he picks his nose.
- Mehnlo decides he's sick and tired of my crap and goes off to complete the rest of the game by himself with that stupid 55 build he uses in the Norn Arena.
- Cynn and Talon start 'exchanging builds' behind a nearby rez shrine, thinking I don't notice their absence...
- Zenmai throws down her daggers and tries to strangle the enemy with her bare hands... At least she's fighting.
Once I use the flags, they finally stop RED ENGINE GOing around and start doing what I pay them to do.

The only place where I've seen the AI totally crap out is in Slaver's Exile with the random spirits popping out. The henchmen prefer to stick to them rather than follow me so I have to manually flag them everywhere while I'm in the dungeon. >.>
