Agreed. I like to play with people, but my play style should not be FORCED on anyone. You should play the game the way you enjoy it!
As for the grind, when the game changes direction as it has and rewards sensless killing of the same mob over and over, that is when it fails.
No one will convince me that killing the same mob again and again is fun. No one will convince me that killing the same mob again and again so I can get some skills that I can use and have no other way to obtain them does not tip the balance.
If you disagree with this, try to pick up a team in DOA with rank one lightbringer. Either you grind up to 4, or do not get a team. This is the issue with anything tied to grind.
One suggestion I do have with all of this, being the grinders will not want the title grind removed is to hold a triple point grind weekend in GWEN. Then everyone is on a level playing field again. As it is now, they are not.

To me it felt a little bit rushed more than anything. But it is indeed *very very* beautiful. The thing I'm actually enjoying the most is turning the music off, ambience up, and exploring to my heart's content.
Oh, and the grove where the bunny hops?:
Looks like it came right outta Zelda. Simply gorgeous.

underdeveloped and overhyped
HoM is a fiasco, Anet has taken a further step to require grind, and taking all my toons through the same things ten times gets old fast

Don't be an @rsehole, no one has said you can't play solo as sometimes it's unavoidable or nice to have a change - but you say yourself that you play solo because you don't want to be tied in with playing with others - so I'm interested in why someone who only wants to play solo chooses to play a multi-player game rather than a solo one.
As for my habitat I'm quite happy with it thank you - 4 bed detached house in it's own grounds but no basement I'm afraid and mum died a couple of years ago.

on the box it states play with friends or solo with a trusty group of henchmen
in an early interview it was flatly stated that it could also be played as a solo rpg with the OPTION to invite friends
MAYBE IT IS A FUN GAME?
solo was planned for so maybe it is not just a multi player game

The real questions, now that we know what GWEN is, is with GW2 be more of the same.
Please remember...
I must not GRIND. GRIND is the mind-killer. GRIND is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my GRIND... I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

I don't really have the patience to read all the way through this thread, but this anyone consider the reason why they called it an EXPANSION pack. It's not a full game as is Prophecies, Factions or Nightfall. It's not meant to have new proffesions or a whole new continent and stuff. It's just meant to be an addon to the current story.
If you ask me, get over it. It's excellent for an expansion pack.

It's terrible for an expansion!

Expansions are ment to add new content. Well, sure this added new content, but was it worth the $40 we spent on it? I mean, I got through the entirty of the missions in two days, and in that time nailed most of what I wanted. This new content didn't keep me busy at all, didn't hold my attention long enough, and hasn't fulfilled my expectations of ANET's workmanship. I've loved Guild Wars and I've loved what they done, but this honestly hasn't done much as far as an addition: all it really did was tie up a few loose ends for those of us with Prophecies. I'm disappointed as crap.

No. Sad as it makes me to say that...no way. $20-25...maybe. $40?....nope, not a chance.

So now the grind to get....well....anything, is supposed to hold you over. Followed by doing the same grind, on your other characters.

Yup, it felt rushed, and to be very bold...half-assed. It felt like they slapped together anything they could get ahold of and said "here ya go! spend $40 on this! You'll love it! (oh and don't forget to buy GW2 when it comes out.) TY!"
...sorry to pick apart your post like that, but you hit pretty much everything on the head.

The designers have shown growth in their art... much growth. This expansion is exquisitely beautiful. And the quests and games are very imaginative and some very humorous. I love all the references to movies. I love the "Office Space" lines Blimm keeps saying. But but but I thought ALL Asura were especially bright... not Blimm huh? Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun. It's well worth the price. Thank you ANet!

I haven't gotten the game yet, but I really want it so each time I read a post like this I am hoping Anet is gonna jump at and say Surprise! GWEN was a big joke and then they make the game as good as it was supposed to be. I'm gonna be hoping for awhile...

I never really argued with these types of posts up until now....
Leave this kind of bickering to the Mods.... please.
ONTOPIC: I have always been the middle person. I liked PvE, and I liked PvP, I'd always switch inbetween when the other gets boring. GW:EN feels like it compensates for me. Not too much PvE content and with nothing new to learn to the PvP side. Meaning I can have a life, get through the game, research a little about whats new in PvP and join in with the rest of 'em.

Actually, the fact that so many players have the exact same complaints speaks volumes. It helps the developers create a better game next time.
I will add to the con list and ask the devs please not to re-skin so many monsters, characters, and armor next time. It leaves a lazy aura around such things, though I understand they are on a budget due to no monthly fees.

and what about the people that went through Factions in less than 2 days?
that proves Factions was just as short.
oh yea then he announced he was starting to farm the exploits before Anet could plug them and then already had the best farming spots noted.
timewise GWEN=FACTIONS it seems depending on the player
