Glacial Gloves now require 100 stones?
Okay so after a while, i decided to go nab me some glacial gauntlets, just for show. I didnt bother before since i was busy getting other armor sets etc. This was, alas, last on my to do list.
Lucky i checked wiki before i did this, turns out instead of the old 35, the gloves now require a whopping 100 Glacial Stones to be traded in the collector.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Glacial_Gauntlets
Now i really dont complain about anything in Guild Wars, but this change, this foolish and rather unjustified update has gotten on the wrong side of me. I dont mean to sound all whiny anyways, i just wanted to see what others think of this.
Discuss.
EDIT: Can a mod please correct the spelling error on the thread title? Thanks :P

Trouble is a lot of things changed after the preview.
Given that these things never seem to drop, i'd have said 35 was more than enough myself. I have nearly completed the game and have only had 2 drop.
Peace,
Ferret

lol I agree, 35 is more than enough, 50 is better imo. I only have 5 drop for me. Then again I never did farm for it. A lot of people do have the gloves, though. So is it that hard to farm the glacial stones?

2 characters through the game, 3 others at different points, I've seen 2 drop since the preview event.
Well, someone on this forum wanted more grind...seems someone at ANet was listening.

Poked some Spectral Vaettirs with my ele last night, just to see how much effort would it be to get a pair of gloves. Clearing the area twice yielded 4 stones for a solo run - too much effort for me at the moment but I might revisit the place once HM is introduced and the rest of the loot gets better.
Was not impressed by the huge increase in the required number of collectables.
Was not impressed by vaettirs having intrinsic 160AL either. Level 20 mesmers, what takes?

In my oppinion, these should have been craftable at an Armor Crafter, in specific the norn crafter in Gunnars Hold, like the other gauntlets (minus the magma gauntlets, which should have been craftable at Central Transfer Chamber, along with the destroyer weapons.)
EDIT: Spectral Vaettir use Elemental or Psysical Resistance, iirc.

160 armour?
I never even noticed.... but then I play a sin. Armour-ignoring damage FTW.

No, Spectral Vaettirs don't use any mantras, it's intrinsic, and I tried other damage types as well, including holy - a r5 Light of Deldrimor did 10 damage to vaettirs. Not that it would matter, there are enough armor ignoring sources of damage in the game, I just find it extremely irregular

You were being a tiny bit niave to think the requirement wouldnt change after the preview. Anet would have been using the preview to check how easily people got those rare drops and how easily they got onto the market.
Probably realised they werent too expensive and drops werent too bad and though to increase it.
100 isnt that bad if you buy them for 100-200g each.
Its better then the ninja mask which takes 250 sup char carvs.

Not really, the sup carvings drop pretty much all the time, so it wont take long to get 250, especially while Vanguard Rep hunting.
Peace,
Ferret

Their drops is just too low. So far I only got them from bosses. 1 of them. And I cleared all Norn areas at least once.

I dont see why it should have changed at all, especially with how broken the drop rate is. I mean take a look at Diessa Chalices and their droprates. If the droprates where substantially increased, then i can easily understand the upped requirement.
However nothing effective has been done to change the droprates. There isnt any substantial reasoning behind increasing the stone cost. Unless Gaile and co. can comment at all on this.

They want to grind you to the bone for your precious icy gloves.
They figure that hopefully it will distract you for a while from noticing how much they have totally failed to add new content to GW:EN.
