Instead of complaining, and making a petition for changing the armor, how about people try to be helpful instead of just whining? Instead of changing, how about adding new armor skins?

Submit your own designs and help Anet make something "original" coz apparently, the armor that they make is not good enough... btw, love the new ranger armor...

I would love to see other people's designs coz apparently it is very easy to be original. And it would be nice to have see armor made by the fans. Comeon, i am sure there are loads of people with lots of imagination!

Side-note : Loved those weapons designed by fans!

I think a large part of this whole reskin complaining problem has a lot to do with peoples' take on the word NEW. I guess different might have been a better term for the most part. We do have 40 "different" sets of armor.

A lot of you are complaining because they are reskins.. which to my mind means that the ONLY thing done would be that they used an identical shape and applied a slightly different texture to it. But from some of the examples people have shown there were more, in in several case slight model changes as well.

Also you are complaining that they mixed an matched parts one different sets to make these "new" sets. Frankly I do the exact same thing on most of my characters. Very rarely do I like the entire set of any given model type so almost all of my characters are mix-matched to make a combination I find appealing. So they attempted to do a bit of that for us. Whether or not we as individuals find these new combinations nice is a matter of personal taste.

I can see where these are considered "new", as in different and here to fore not used combinations or textures.

Anther thing that you might want to consider is the fact that GW:EN takes place in northern TYRIA. It isn't a totally new continent of humans like Cantha, or a different human culture on a subcontinent like Elona. GW:EN involves human refugees from the Ascalonian /Krytan cultures of southern Tyria. It only stands to reason that a large part of the armors we see are variants of what came in Prophesies with a few twists thrown in from the other campaigns.

Norns, Dwarves, and Asurans are NOT humans. their knowledge of human armor types would be heavily influenced by the Prophecies culture they are most familiar with mixed with a bit of their own ideas as well as a smattering of influence from the other human cultures. So in a sense, these reskins you are all up in arms over, make perfect sense.

Personally I was hoping for a nice set of female mesmer armor out of the four possibilities, and like a lot of you farmed and saved for it. But in the end I don't really care for them and so she ended up with a set of Marhan's Grotto armor from Prophesies. No biggie. Several of my other characters will look really good in the other GW:EN sets available.

It really comes down to personal taste. As I pointed out in another, similar thread, what one person finds hideous, someone else will positively drool over. But seriously, basing your entire enjoyment or lack of same, of an entire game because you don't think they went all out on armor seems a bit extreme. Especially if you stop and consider my point about the cultural influences.

Besides.. All of this armor is by default based on the shape of a human body, which unless I'm severely mistaken has a more or less uniform shape on average. So expecting some major innovation in armor design each and every time, while a nice thought can only go so far before you get some really out there, silly designs.

A personal example of this, in my own opinion, would be a large part of the necro armor in NF. I took one look at that and thought to myself.. WTF were they on when they dreamed that up? But again, I'm sure that there are some of you out there that looked at those same sets and went "OOOOOOOOO!! (Insert drool here) Finally.. Something I like!!! Bout damn time Anet!"

...first the petition...THEN submission of new ideas...posting a bunch of pictures is not going to make nearly as big a difference as letting anet know how mad we really are right now, and I think it has already been mentioned that the armors should be added...not replacing the old ones(no matter how bad they suck)

Actually, posting pictures will be far more explicit than any words people on this thread may come up with tbh. A picture and the exact expectation of the fans and what they expect/want and consider "original" is far more explicit and shows Anet where they fail the expectation of the players. And which the palyers ain't gonna consider as "reskin"....

Yeah, I'm also kinda mad that 2 of the sneak peak pictures we were shown of GW:EN were of Anton and that necro hero. A.net was trying to make us think those would be real armor sets for the necro and sin.

much better i'd have to say. That gives a bettter definition of what players want. It's more like let players have armor similar to heroes, kind of request instead of just complaining and claiming that armor are reskins. It's more we want armor with same design as heroes.

I can already see a pattern to it. The heroes armor shows lots of skin...lol ... It's more like players want more skin... bleh...forgot that majority of players are boys...

...uh, try actually reading several of the other forums (and many of the posts in this one) and it's painfully obvious that we're all jealous of the fresh style offered by hero armors...it's not about skin(except for some people...ok...)it's about ORIGINALITY. Do I want to look exactly like my heroes? No, but what I do know is that if they can create something new for them, WHY NOT US???

Actually, most of the posts in this thread are of the type "Anet sucks and are lazy, and their design sucks. Their designs in NF and Factions were better...I'm going to quit/slashwrist...Boycot GWEN .etc.". Sounded mostly like a whiner thread like so many on Guru. I'm sorry if I missed the posts about jelousing about Hero armor. And No. I did not bother with other forums apart Guru. GW online seems to be about same as Guru, and others, I just dun't care. Creating something new is hard. Originality is hard. Even the hero armor look similar to some stuff already existing in other materials. That is why I was suggesting that fans actually made their designs and show Anet what they want/expect. What if Anet comes up and do some new skins but which the players are going to label as "reskins" once again? And thanks to the hero pictures, we have a better view of what people are asking on this thread. True, not the best, but still better than nothing.

Just because its a video game, does not mean that ideas, concepts from the real world cannot be applied to it. The reason why I didn't like their armor before was because of the textures, more so that its form. The change in textures to me did the trick for a few armors.

Maybe its just the person I am, I just take thing cool, give people the benefit of the doubt. I don't let things get me all bent out of shape up, because at the end of the day, disappointment is a part of life, this is no different in video games.

hey, I don't see anybody walking around in guild wars wearing jeans and a t-shirt...and while I should know that disappointment is a part of life (duh), that doesn't mean I can't complain about an issue that can and should be dealt with. After all, that's what this thread is about. We're pissed at anet for shipping out a bunch of crap armor, and they need to know about it. Seriously, if we didn't say anything about other problems in the game, they probably never would have been dealt with, and we'd be stuck with problems such as...not being able to vanquish all of nf because of hard mode removal, clipping issues, etc...get it?

I am not trying to force you to do so. I am not trying to pull the thread down or whatever you think I am doing. I always fight for the greyzone.

I am suggesting players to post designs to help the addition of new weapons/armor. I am NOT suggesting people to post design to laugh at their face like "haha! you can't design it yourself! suck it up!" That is NOT what I said or am trying to do.

Don't you think that it would be better if we get a preview of what skin people want 1st? before convincing Anet of adding whatever skin?

I dun't see the point of asking things to be changed and then go back to the same spot i.e again with the same stuff but with different textures again.

That is why I asked for screens and designs. And thanks to your hero sceencaps, we do have a better view, not the best but still better than before.

/signed. I can only hope that the hero armors become available for players. Don't really care how they bring new armor in , whether by replacing some of the current ones, or by adding an entire new set for endgame or something, as long as they do it.

Creating something original is not hard. At all. Look at the thread concerning Destroyer armor. Boom. Something original...right there. This thread is for requesting a change (or additions) only. You want pictures? Start a new thread. Either /sign it, /notsign it, or leave. I'll even say it one more time: players want originality, they want something different, they want something that says "I grinded for 12 hours and spent 60k on this, and damn do I look good." And if Anet were to produce a mere 4 fresh sets per class...that's 4 chances that you'll find at least one thing you like for your new character.
