Well lucky warriors, atleast ONE class isnt getting rehased armor. Now I feel so much better knowing the warriors are fine. How about you compare elite elemetnal armor from propherces and GWEN and then tell me that the comparisons arent a complete piss take!

I appreciate its the same continent and maybe they want to follow a trend, but being the last ever expansion we get, we should have got better.

We have to play GWEN for 2 years to make up the gap before we get GW2 so it should offer more incentives to play. If the armor is that bad, that most people dont want it, it removes a HUGE incentive to play.

I've seen GWEN armors on wiki. Every single one I saw was horrible; there wasn't a single one where I went like "wow, I gotta have this one". All were "meh..". With Prophecies Faction and Nightfall there were a lot of armors where I went "must...have...".

It's actually a reskin of one of the most favored ranger armor combos (for males, anyways). Even though it does look cool, they should never, ever reskin FoW...

At least I'll save some ecto when my ranger gets there, eh?

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed by the armor as well. Especially since GW:EN was supposed to be elite territory, with the level 20 limit and the high prices/requirements of, well, just about everything worth having. I thought the armor we would earn would be more equal to the effort we put in to grind titles and gather material. They advertised those 40 new armor sets, and while I figured it wasn't going to be 40 100% new armors, I wasn't expecting the vast majority to be such sad-looking reskins. As someone already pointed out, some of them just look like combos that don't quite mesh.

The whole thing just screams timesink/goldsink. A cheap way to occupy our game time until they get GW:2 up and running. I'm enjoying the quests and plot, and I LOVE most of the new areas, but there are so many areas of the game that just feel like the design team just stopped caring in the middle and took shortcuts. The Hall of Monuments is just SAD.

Oh well, on the plus side, those of us without a lot of money will be keeping much of it, since there's not a whole lot up north worth buying.

EDIT : looking at it blind people designed ele armors (for male) after prophecies, cause factions n most of nightfall are pretty bad looking only exception is Vabbi ( which hardly anyone can afford)

Well, partially signed. There are several armors I DO like, and there are at least three I am going to buy (although I was quite lucky with classes and gender there). The problem is not that they are reskins, since good reskins can also be good-looking. However, if 80% of them are nearly the same model (and some of them even exactly the same model), then even a good reskin is not enough. It may look nice, maybe better than the original, but it lacks originality.

And claiming that this is normal for an expansion is the worst excuse ever. After all, this is the game that should encourage us to buy GW2. It should be even better than the previous chapters, because screwing that up makes certainly a bad impression. Although there is still hope, since GW is - fortunately - an online game, which means it can be constantly updated. So if Anet realizes that this load of reskins is harming to their future sales, there is a fair chance that they will do something about it.

I agree that they should not change the already existing armors. After all, there are some people who like them, and besides - the work is already done (even if it was only small work on some of them), so why throwing it away? They should just add some new armors, I think one for each profession would be enough, and expand the gloves to full armor sets. The new armor could be unlinked to the ranks, and be available after the completion of EotN - and thus ultimately the completion of Guild Wars.

...to those of you asking us to stop complaining, apparently you don't mind wasting $40...and yes I have seen just about all the armors available...I'm no longer holding out that maybe...just maybe...the asuran ele armor might be awesome...cuz IT ISN'T. It looks like a bunch of 1.5k CRAP. So once again, I'll make my statement...ANET get your thumbs out of your asses and A)get the ball rolling on some additional armor that we don't have to spend $30 in your online store for or B)cough up an apology and don't screw us over again in the future...even tho as it is, you aren't going to even get the opportunity after the shitty little stunt you just pulled.

I agree, if Anet wont do anything about that, I'll likely wont do anything watching the GW2 box on shelves in 2009-2010.

I think that most of these posters in those complaining threads about armors wont buy it.

Go look at your clothes. Your real clothes, and see how many of them are reskins. Better yet, look at jeans, reskins up the arse.

Preferences of armor and clothes are relative from person to person. You may not like the armors in GW:EN. You may not like the fact they were reskined from previous models. Personally I hated all of the Monk armor in Nightfall and all of the Monk armor in Factions. The only armor in factions that I really like was the 1.5k Kurzik. Is that ANETS fault that they didn't make armor that I liked? I say no, though my tastes for armor is a bit different from what they usually have in mind, that doesn't mean those people didn't work hard on designing those armors. Maybe they cut a few corners on the armor, but overall they new skins look cool(well most of them at least).

If anything you remember this. Its not ANETS fault you wasted your time farming, its not their fault you didn't like their armor designs, and they definitely did not force you to buy the game, nor do they force you to stay. If your that angry at ANET, then just stop playing. In fact stop playing video games all together, because if you didn't notice, All games All have reskins in them, Always.

Just because people are playing the game doesn't mean they're happy with the reskinned armor sets. Saying that there's one or two that aren't reskins is pointless since it was specifically stated it was 40 new armor sets.

I'll agree though, nobody forced us to buy anything. The problem is, don't hype something up if you can't deliver. Fable is a good example, there's a second one coming out but I don't know anyone that even cares because of how bad they failed at presenting what they promised in the first one.

Pull stunts like that and people's trust in a company goes down, something Anet has really done for me with GWEN. Not just because of the lack of "new" armor but for many other reasons as well.

Sure clothes in real life are reskins but this is a video game, worst comparison ever.

These are just SOME of the necro female armos that are slightly remodeled and/or reskinned.

The 40$ I spent wasn't all the the armors. It was about the game, the storyline and everything else (Screw weapons I have the best I could need..) I hardly like any of them, and hell I hardly liked any of the Fem necro armor in NF and none in Factions (But I do love Vabbian, drool.)

Yet even when when I was looking at the fem warriors Asuran I laughed my ass off how the model is exactly to my 15k Kurzick to the T. Looks great but is funny to see the complete reskin.

Even doing that little project I realized how factions armors are reskins of EACH OTHER. Look at canthan or anything to see the line of: Noobie armor, Greater Armor (Extra symbols) and Elite Armor (Even MORE symbols). So really Faction's armor is reskinning itself go look. Same in Proph, Look at Monk Censor and Judgment (Mango Pointed this out).

Like others have said there have been reskins, but in GWEN they just did a poor job of reskinning. Very poor job, hard work yes but it's too obvious of the reskinning to even like it. Nightfall wasn't bad about reskinning you may notice it here and there but no one made a thread about it (at least not of this size).

/half sign. There's no way to reskin all the armors but there could be added new sets of armor like they did for Prophecies (Labyrinth, Knights..) But I can still enjoy the game the other loot and my old armor still I just find it disappointing to gain titles that don't do anything honestly just to get armor you're not going to care about in the long run (save for the storyline..)

This has got to be the stupidest argument yet. HELLO, I DON'T WEAR ARMOR EVERYDAY. I DON'T TOTE AROUND A SWORD OUR CAST DOWN FIREBALLS AT DEMONS IN BETWEEN CLASSES. Games are different from real life...and to top it off, I'm sure there's more than 40 different styles in real life to choose from. And here's one for you...if I didn't like an armor that anet had created before why the hell would I like a reskin of it??? But...if Anet tried to make something different, something that fits more TASTES, there's actually a chance that I may like it...therefore it IS their fault. And chances are THEY DIDN'T WORK HARD. They didn't just cut corners...they lopped off a whole half of the armor project: the MESH half. And yes...it is their fault for misleading the general populace into believing that they'd get "NEW" armors, resulting in people acting SMART, and saving up/farming so they'd be able to get these "NEW" armors when they were finally available. So yes, I most likely will stop playing guild wars for a while, and until they prove themselves I will not waste any more of my money on them. But stop playing all games cuz they have reskins? I don't play Halo for new sets of armor...or Gears of War...or Bioshock...or Assassin's Creed...(and frankly, at least other mmo's aren't THIS lazy about new armors). So here's a tip, quit using flawed logic when trying to defend a point that I don't think you even want to defend. Sounds to me you just like arguing against majorities. In the mean time, if you'd actually read thru the whole forum before opening your mouth again...you might see that we just want Anet to come to the realization that they have a bunch of people who are pissed at them for being so half assed.

While waiting for GWEN to come out, i was hoping to wear the awesome armor the Norn used in the concept art and screenshots. When the preview event rolled in, I discover that there was no such armor...

I really wanted to see those Norn NPC helms

The Norn armor is very cool and I'm surprised that the character armor is basically nothing like it. I'd gladly buy a set that's all Mad Max crazy metal and muscles like the Norn... but the sets they actually sell are like Ascalon frickin armor.
