It's not as bad as you think, i haven't done any farming and i'm not too far from r5 norn (20k points atm). It should only take 2 cleared zones to reach my r5. I did all the norn quest and dungeons which give norn rep points and killed along the way to get that much and i haven't repeated any quests. Try using guidwiki to get all the quest you need which give norn points.

If it can be done that way, I won't have nightmare. I am falling asleep trying to farm Norn points on the same damn map.

baaba, your desire is a tad different than the OP's - in your situation, you should have the right to gain any armor, just incase you should need to look your best while you're taking a dirt nap waiting for a rez :P
I'm only kidding

I was about 10k Norn rep after the preview with some exploration. I've tried Varajar fells a few times, and I can net about 3000 (400 kills) in about 1,5 hours. Maybe I just have a bad luck with the bonuses, since some people say they can net closer to 4000 points. I have about 16k now, but I couldn't bring myself to do more than one run in one night. I don't want to start hating the game already.
But still I'd wish there'd be more options. For me, new armor is the biggest part of an expansion. Even though with all the re-skins, there are still a few sets I'd like to get, but I don't still consider vanquishing areas for rep that much fun.
Someone talked about the Sunspear "grind". That's not a very good example, since you pretty much automatically gained the necessary ranks just by playing the game. That's not the fact with GWEN rep.
However, the fact that repeatable quests give minimal faction now compared to preview is annoying. If Nornbear would still be 500, I wouldn't mind doing it every now and then, but at 100, it's a joke.

Bah.
It doesn't even come close to the grind that the later levels require.
I'm nearly at level 5 Norn rank... and I'm going to carry on to level 8 with my Assassin at least.
You might consider it a grind to kill everything in an area; I just consider it being thorough.

i have r4 asura, deldrimor, and norn on my ele...i get sick thinking about my other 9 chars who potentially want EoTN armor. that's 260,000 points to farm, and that's only if i want one new armor per char.

Even if not for the armour and stuff..... I'd farm the ranks for the title bonus.
As it stands, Rank 4 Norn title gives me a nice chunk of +70 Max Health...
I'm not sure whether it really affects my Heroes or not (didn't change their health when I activated and deactivated it in an outpost), but they certainly display the icon.

Nonsense. I don't think that only E-Bayers have FOW. But I KNOW that you have to grind quite a bit to get FOW armour. Someone who has FOW armour and then turns around and complains about grinding in GWEN (which is maybe 1/50th of the grind for FOW) strikes me as someone who probably e-bayed their gold for their armour.
Personally I'm glad as all hell that Title points are something that can't be bought or traded. I think it's a WONDERFUL idea from Anet that really helps to seperate those that work from those that ebay.
I don't think that everyone that has FOW ebayed it at all... Just that a LOT of people who do have FOW armour ebayed it. It cheapens the armour set for the rest of us.

OMG.... I can't believe the whiners.... you want points you work for it. Are Anet expected to hand out freebies to people for doing nothing? Come on... you want to get good stuff then for once you have to work for it. Not be run to places like many are for Droks armour, or ferried around FoW to buy fissure armour.
I currently have rank 6 norn, rank 5 dwarf, rank 4 asura and rank 3 vanguard... and I've not "grinded" much at all. I done a few runs round Varaja Fells for norn, but the others are exploring areas opening the map up and with the Dwarf down to doing dungeons as they are great.
If people want to max a title then be prepared to work for it... if want good stuff then be prepared to work for it. I loved the stuff done to get the Moa where I had to fight in a tourney for a book, and have had to have done things in factions to get an incubator.
In my view, Anet are doing good making people do stuff to get things in the game now, so its not all hand me outs or being run here and there for things.
So will say again, want it then work for it.... don't wanna work for it, fall by the side while others get it.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Dungeon - here we can see the points gained for the titles in the last columns for completing dungeons. Well, i did Darkrime the second time and i received 200 Norn points instead of 1.5k. Did we receive the "true" sum on the first completion only? Perhaps someone experienced this too.

Let's look that way... Nightfall has 7 points of Sunspear per monster. Yeah, it's not all monsters, but in a good spot you can get a lot of points. How much is in GWEN? 1 point per monster. WOW! 2 points after you kill 75 monsters. WOW! So to get 20k points, you need to kill ~7,5k monsters. Yeaaaah... Not a grind/farm, eh?
I was at the start of Factions, but 100k isn't that much.
10k = hour. Of ABing, not FFFing (because FFFing is MUCH faster)
You get 20k points for 10k, so you get 20k points per hour (if you donate to get skills/reputation for guild). So it's 5 hours to get 100k. One day and you're done...
And you get points in GWEN 5 times slower than in Factions.

Perhaps I'm just looking at this in a weird way, but since reputation serves as your "attribute" for determining the power of certain skills, I look at this like "leveling up" beyond 20. It opens up new build options and more potential diversity on a skillbar.
I think we all can easily take it for granted that our characters can reach max level so quickly. This is essentially making a character more powerful without a higher level cap, which can yield interesting results.
And maybe it's just me, but I actually enjoy clearing out Varajar Fells...

It is mine and I didn't get hit with a slack stick.
Anyways, you have to do "some" farming to get your title no matter what and I forget to carry the Hero's Handbook. gg.

Right now I am R3 in Norn title and pretty much stuck. I can't find any quest that will give me any Norn title points.
Do I have to farm the map for hours to get that title?

The best way is to post a thread in a forum whining about having to grind...
That'll get you your points instantly.

Hm... I think that page has inaccuracies. It says that completing Frostmaw's burrows gives 3000 Norn points, but I'm looking at my quest log now where it says the reward is 10k experience and 2k gold. I have yet to complete Frostmaw's for the first time.

EGAD! How can that be??? This isn't your average run-of-the-mill farming. Every 25 kills you get a random bonus. It may be a time attack or a rampage in which case you have to be alert and aware and start killing as fast as you can while hearing strains of the William Tell Overture (theme from the Lone Ranger) in your head.

4,000 points to finish rank 3 (8,000 total)
8,000 points to finish all of rank 4 (16,000 total)
10,000 points to finish all of rank 5 (26,000 total)
22,000 points total.
The repeatable quests give you 500 points each. So you'll only have to run a mixture of them 44 times!
Or you can wipe out a zone over and over and over and over for about 400 points per wipeout if you're lucky, and I mean leaving nothing moving of any sort.
Good luck you'll need it.
EDIT: finishing the game and turning in your full book gives you something like 2,500 rep for whoever you choose. That'll cut 5 runs off that 44 total.

Say that to my 3500 points in Drakkar lake alone. You move too slow

umm, i'm still 'rich' off the drops (+sales of inflated sigils) made from playing tombs ~2 years back. i didn't see tombs as 'grind' then seeing as that's where (and many other of my future guildmates) got into pvp and then gvg
so your comparison of "HA equally as bad a grind as pve" doesn't really apply to me unfortunately
