Do I have to farm the UW for hours to get that title?

If you want something nicer than droks armor, you have to work/farm/ebay for it. This is nothing new.

but i just used to gold i earned from selling HA drops for my fissure set + other armor
now i have to farm PvE for a title just to get a new set? /rage.

That I don't know, sorry. (got it from wiki)
Anyone here have practical experience? I think it took me about an hour to clear Drakkar's Lake (spent a lot of time running back and forth looking for bosses to kill, though).

roughly 1.5 hours. It's not too bad... though I still hate the grind too.

Speaking of wiki:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Norn_Title_Track
"The quickest way to gain points is clearing the Varajar Fells map while under this blessing. There are about 400 enemies in total, giving about 4,000 Norn points on average per run."
That's 4.5 runs to get you from rank 3 to rank 5. Not so bad, is it?
|
Thanks, missed the bottom part, yet in the screenshot I posted I did get 100 points for doing it a second time so there is an error somewhere, perhaps it was in one of the recent updates Anet did, like changing the gloves from 35 glacial stones to 100.

I consider HA equally as bad a grind as pve. Being forced to play those awful maps against (and with) such awful, gimmicky builds is just about as unappealing as clearing PVE instances over and over.

I map a zone and completely clear the first time I enter any new zones. It adds to your Mastery of the North at the same time.
Then I just take the bounties as I'm going out and doing quests.
Without ever having to "farm" I currently have over 40k Ebon Vanguard rep, 27k Norn, and just under 10k Asuran with only clearing 2 zones.

I'm pretty sure they took out the reputation point rewards for completing dungeons. Not too happy about that :/
But o well, I'm mostly just gonna cruise around the different areas. Until I get the armor I want. I'm not the sort of player who needs his armor within a week of the game being released (no offence to those who feel they do).

for you if you can't get a decent group maybe, there are players who play HA primarily, but no one buys guild wars to grind titles

I seem to be getting only points for the Deldrimor track. Not sure if that's from completing it, or killing mobs. But my Norn track hasn't moved much since I did those dungeons.

How many threads and posts do we have for "grinding is bad in Eye of the North" now? Guess most of us know the answer to this question: it's enough already.
It is simple to understand why Anet added title requirements to various npc's. Have you notice the average cost for an elite armor sets are 15,000 gold each piece? In saying this, have you notice that the cost for an elite armor sets are 10,000 gold per piece in Eye of the North instead of the original amount?
Now onto the problems with farming the reputation points, we can all ask ourselves one simple question: do we have to farm the specific location over and over again to earn these titles? No, we don't. If you actually take your time exploring various dungeons, playing the game and doing some quests, it is highly unlikely to not have a rank 5 in these titles.
So for the extra price of 5,000 gold for a armor piece, 25,000 gold if you wish to have the entire set, are you willing to give up the alternative option that you can complete just by playing the game?
Let's go off topic a bit here, and I will tell you a story.
There was a immortal who was commited to help the mortals who are suffering. He arrived at a town one day; he asked the people what is the source of their suffering. The people complained that there aren't any wines avaliable. Relevantly, he used his power to give these people wine. The next day, he asked the people that what is the source of their suffering now. The people complained that there aren't any good side-dishes to go with the wine. So the immortal used his power once again, but this time, the wine vanished. "Now you won't have the problem of not having these side-dishes to go with the wine." He said to the people.
Knowing the moral of this story, how will the community react even if Anet does make a change to the game?
"GW:EN IS BORING!"
"Have you tried the dungeons?"
"No, I am a casual player; I don't have the time."
"THE PVE-ONLY SKILLS SUCK, MY PET DOES MORE DAMAGE!"
"They are not bad. Why, what tier of the title do you have?"
"One."
"Why don't you farm it?"
"THAT'S GRINDING!! WE ARE ANTI-GRIND!"
If you had used the poor rewarding system from various mini-games as a reason to your arguement, it would've been logical and valid. Nevertheless, you did not; therefore, I can only conclude that the reason to your complain is based on a few factors: you are seeking attention and greater profits. If you don't mind, please shut it unless you really have a few valid points to your arguement. Note that there are people who are enjoying the game, and we don't want to end up as the people in the story just because some people have misinterpreted our thoughts.

Oh I can get good groups, but why would I want to subject myself to the torture of playing HA? Its a horrible pvp format, I'd rather GVG and come to think of it, I'd rather pve.

Interesting. I've done much the same (albeit without hitting the dungeons) with the Ebon Vanguard territory and quests, and I've only got around 12K. There are still a couple of quests in Sactoth Valley to do, but I somehow can't see that netting 30K reputation...
I could see it being possible if you cleared the zone every time you entered rather than just the first time around, but I'd be inclined to describe that as farming that just happens to have some questing on the side rather than the other way around.

Hardy har har! Everyone is all pissed off because you can't eBay title points like you can gold. I saw some guy complaining about having to "grind" in GWEN and his avatar in the forums showed him with FOW armour... Farming to faction 5 is not THAT much of a grind people... I've actually learned to enjoy it. Seeing the whole map of an area is actually quick cool.

To the OP:
If the armor you desire was at the first GWEN town, and required nothing but gold and materials to acquire, would you have bought it right then and there?
Secondly, if you answered yes to this, what would you then be doing afterward?
More than likely, running around GWEN amassing kills toward the title that you now have to obtain to get that armor. The armor has no advantage over your current armor (assuming you have max armor at this time), and therefor is purely optional. Extend your experience a bit and set your goal to get those kills, then wear that new armor as you smash and slash and burn your way through the 18 dungeons GWEN has.
GWEN's grind, as people are calling it, is self-imposed. There is nothing GWEN offers me to make my character any better than I already am in terms of armor or weapons. And the skills, honestly, are just as optional. I have faith you'll achieve your goal for your new armor, but try not to take what you have to do to get what you want as anything more than what you'd already have to do to get what you need in Guild Wars.

Yes. I only pick armors that I like then off I go. I will then go PvP. My main focus is only PvP in Guild Wars.

Yeah that's just the bonus from the droknar's beacon. Better than nothing I suppose. I was responding to a post that was talking specifically about the rewards for the quest associated with completing the full dungeon.
For the OP, too bad you can't transfer balthzar faction to reputation points.... o well
