One of my monk characters got the tapestry shred from her by giving her about 10 (didn't keep count, just gave her every one I found through several days of playing) red iris flowers. Never got the quest from her, but did get the tapestry shred.

This is old or inaccurate information. I made a monk last night and gave Gwen a cape and flute. I haven’t gotten the tapestry yet, but I haven’t given her any flowers yet either.

My Ranger which is my 1st Tyrian char did give her cape and flute but didn't give her enough flower for her to give tapestry shred.
So I made another Tyrian char to get tapestry shred and transfer to my ranger.I got no problem doing the quest.
