Getting to Gadd's Encampment=ridiculous
Okay, so I've been trying forever on my domination mesmer to get to Gadd's Encampment and finally just got there today. I'm only working on the Asura quests and such because I want the armor. It's ridiculous that we even have to be a certain rank to get it but that's not what this post is about.
We have to go into the Shards of Orr to get to Gadd's Encampment for a primary. I accidentally had a master's quest active at the same time and got completely overwhelmed. So I zoned back into town and abandoned it, hoping the mobs wouldn't be so big. Well, I was wrong. The same exact mobs were there and they just took out my whole party. And then at the very end, when I was like right by the portal, we all have 60dp and couldn't fight the skeletons. Two monks in one group, heroes not focusing, and poison/blinding coming at us from all angles. So here we are, right by the exit portal, and we can't even get to it. So what does this tell you? It's riduculously hard to get to Gadd's Encampment. Possible, but barely. They should seriously fix this.
And I don't want to hear that I have the wrong heroes, bad builds, etc. I've tried this several times with different builds and just now got through it, but at 60dp.

i still haven't done that part of the quest but i've tried, and form what i can see, that part can be ran.
but i do agree that being a primary quest it doesn't and shouldn't need to be that difficult to go through

The way I got through there was by switching to an illusion based build, keeping Distortion active at all times, and "exercising the better part of valor" (read: running like my undies were on fire while flagging heroes/henchies to cover me)
Not the most heroic way to get from one end to the other, but it worked

This is probably one of the hardest dungeons. And yet you still have to go through it for your primary quest. The big thing is the enemy uses a spamming blind which makes your melee almost useless. Not to mention the healers are very good at there trade as well. I suggest a snare and burn which is the quickest (at least for me) Slow down there melee attackers (example Deep freeze) so your casters can rip up the healers and casters then turn attention to the warriors. They stay in good tight groups making it easy to snare. Searing flames X2 ele will help speed up the process. This is quick help for getting to the encampment. If you are going to try and finish Shards of Orr then a 3x Smiter is defiantly the way to go. Holy dmg is x2 against undead

Take the alternate route: go through battledepths - bogroots - sparkfly. You don't even need to have gadd's quest active to do this.

FYI, you can completely avoid Shards of Orr and still reach Gadds Encampment...Go into Battledepths, take the Asuragate into Heart of the Shiverpeaks. From Heart of the Shiverpeaks, there is an exit into Bogroot Growth Dungeon. Bogroot is a dungeon at the north end of the exporable area outside Gadds Encampment.
I know this path works because its how I got my Ranger to Gadds...

Mesmers have one running skill - Illusion of Haste. You just have to make sure to recast it before the enchantment timer runs out, otherwise you end up crippled for a coupla seconds while you recast it.

Ok my ranger just get pass that bit last night. I cheated though, I used 3 BP interupt rangers, with Judge's insight and Olis as MM. :P Devona, the 2 moks henches and Cynn.
When fighting the mob, set the 2 rangers to target one of the healer and the rest go for the cleric. The the wizarrds then necros always leave the brute til last. Repeat for the next mob. When the minions are up it was simple, I know it's stupid tomb team (kinda) build but work for me.

Then I guess you don't want the right answer. It's not your fault and you did everything right. It's the game's fault.

yeah the undead ele's are ridiculously over powered. stupid blinding surge...not to mention they target spike...I had to do it 3 times before I said screw it and went it with the steam roller....I used 2 SH ele's (1 running the standard build the other echoing SH or Meteor Shower), 1 Healer, 1 Prot, 1 Smite (w/ echoed ray of judgment -360 damage to a target and all adjacent targets is nice), Earth henchie, 1 warrior henchie and my dervish with Avatar of Balthazar for the holy damage even though hate using avatars..

I personally didn't find it so overwhelming. Fair enough, the load of souls which quickly heal the same soul was annoying, but I just ran past those and blinded any melee who crossed me. If I remember right, the place is mainly melee enemies, so the usual blind and wards will work.
