They could still do that, especially if they're open about doing that, and still have the class-specific graphics to display in the Hall.
See my post a couple of pages before, but what it boils down to is this: The Hall still only tracks the same information as it does now (so, for instance, it passes down Vabbian armour rather than specifically passing down female Mesmer Vabbian) but it checks with the profession and (possibly, although showing male/female variants wouldn't be too bad) gender of the character that the Hall belongs to in order to determine what graphic to use instead of the current defaults.
After all, it's not like you're ever going to manage to get Mesmer Elite Canthan and Warrior Elite Canthan in the same Hall, are you?

Perhaps there is a way for Anet to satisfy both sides (at least in some cases). For example...
Fellowship - Let people display any of the heroes that they want to display without restriction, but if they want to be able to gain a benefit from this shrine in GW2 then 5 or 10 or however many of those heroes displayed must have upgraded armor.
Valor - Let people display the weapons that they want to display, but if they want to gain a benefit from this shrine in GW2 then 5 or 10 or however many of the displayed weapons must be...whatever requirement.
Just a thought...

I can understand all the monuments being character based though I do find it very annoying that only one of my characters can display a certain minipet.
The armor doesn't need to be account based because even though my mesmer has vabbian armor doesn't mean my ranger has it and needs it displayed in her HoM. My ranger uses her Forgotten Longbow but has no need for the Kaolin Domination Staff. I'm not sure how focus and shield items work because they're not customizable but I do use them across characters.
I see it has caused quite an uproar and I was too disappointed, but now that I have thought about it, it makes sense for them to keep it that way. The HoM is your character's achievements, not your characters' (plural).
The only thing I truely want them to change is the armor placeholders. For me to even like HoM they HAVE to be my characters armor set, not some other professions... and it would be nice for it to display ALL of the sets, not just 5. My mesmer has a nice collection of armor and I cannot stand looking at some other set of armor. I know it sounds harsh but I'm weird like that ...

My take on minipets is that they should not be inherited to GW2 regardless... Your character will not survive that long why should your pets. And if you want to take the stance that they aren't really pets but toys, well, how many unbroken toys has your family passed down for the last 600 years? Can you think of any toys at all that have survived 600 years?
Instead the HoM could serve as a mini pet storage facility... any character can put the pets in there and can display them and any other character on your account can also display them, take them out, rearrange them, whatever, without customizing them. However, again, no inheritance.
As for heros... well, I was a bit bummed out that my Sousuke does not show his primeval armor, but you know... not a big deal really. Whatever. I have to guess, if there is some kind of 'inheritance' to be earned by displaying your heros then requiring that you cared enough about them to earn their elite armor forms is a fair requirement.
I'd like to see some ability to put in PvE titles, but frankly it would be annoying to have all of them in there. I could care less about my drunkard title track for instance and so that's a no-brainer for no inclusion. Even some of my higher ranked titles like Tyrian Master Cartographer... I can do without it. How about letting us pick the 10 (or some other reasonable number) of titles to display?

I think that I will temporarily suspend my "/signed" vote until we see what the HoM actually looks like after the launch of GW:EN. I've been reviewing all the marketing and comments from ANet leading up to the preview event and I may have been too quick to jump to the conclusion that the HoM that I saw is the HoM that we will get.
However, I think that the HoM will still be character based which is a shame. But I won't boycott GW:EN or GW2 because of it.

I agree 100% with the change suggestions to Devotion and Resilience (as those are the only two I tried out). I'm sad that my other chars can no longer play with my minipets, I customized nearly all of mine to my necro without thinking and if I could undo this, I totally would. I do consider my nec my main char, but she's not so selfish she needs all my minis :P I think customizing the minis to the account is fine, but if this is not possible, I at least think there should be an option to uncustomize the minis, or just remove mini customization from the game altogether. Also, I think the armor displays need to be redone. My char is female. There is no reason whatsoever for there to be statues of male armor in my hall. I also think it should show armor specific to my profession. While I got lucky the Vabbian and Elite Luxon do show the fem necro armor, none of the others that I have do (I think the Granite statue is a fem nec set, but its not a set that I own yet). And I think having Marhans Grotto Armor and Granite Citadel Armor is dumb seeing as there are multiple sets available from these outposts. I'd like to be able to show off both sets from each outpost but I can't which is a pain considering I took the time and spent the money to add to my armor collection.

I'd love to have a festival hat style NPC that could re-create my customized minis on demand. That would make mini pets perfect in the HoM. You'd still have to think about which character you wanted to to put them into the monument with originally, but you'd be able to use them on the rest of your account after the fact.

I agree on everything but thing about minipets. Why cutomizing? it would be really better to leave them as they are (non customized), or at least account based. I hope ANet will really get searious about HoM problem.

Hi. I grabbed a couple of minutes of James Phinney's time just now and he would like you to know that we are still working on the Hall of Monuments. Some of the concerns that players have voiced have been or are being addressed, although obviously not every change that players have requested will be made.
Adding to that a bit, I think it's important to remember that Guild Wars is a constantly-evolving game. What you saw in the Sneak Peek Weekend is not what you will see upon release this Friday. And what you see upon release may be different than the HoM a few weeks or months down the line. Your thoughtful and constructive comments are welcome, and you know that we do listen to feedback and suggestions. There are certain core design objectives -- "visions," if you will -- that I sense will not be changing, even if there are a number of players who wish it so. However, there are other elements that may very well change, although I do not have specific information about that right now.
I hope this info is helpful, and that you are reassured to know that you are being heard and that your input is being considered. --Gaile 23:06, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

ur wrong, GW2 will play 100 years later, not 600 !!!
And who says, that minipets are real living creatures with a life and that they have an age ? Minipets could be also simple magical things with the shape of a creature, which know no age ...
people, get FANTASY and don't see ever everything only in black or white ...

I didn't play the preview, but what I'm hearing is that it's a character-based hall, where you can only display account-based titles? That it's a hall in PvE where you can only display PvP titles?
This is just so retarded that no adequate words exist to condemn it harshly enough.
I don't give two hoots about a shrine to mini pets or high end armours but as and when I finish Legendary Vanquisher I expect to find a slot for it in my HOM. PvP is all very nice isn't it (can you get to level 9 by /rolling BTW?) but if you're telling me my years of grind on Wisdom, Treasure Hunter, Cartographer and Skill Hunter leave no lasting legacy for my GW2 characters, but meanwhile ebayers with a stack of fluffy mini-pets (no impact on gameplay) can unlock special content...... I can feel my axe twitching......
Anyhow, no point making slurs on other players....gr8 if Pets and Junk is your thing, but not including PvE titles in this is [insert the most severe word you can think of here].
Don't disappoint me A:Net.

The monument of Honor should be able to display the titles you want it to, and preferebly have a short story with each and every one of them. It would also be nice if certain titles changed the appreance of the monument. This should be character based
The monument of Resillience should display the correct profession, and it should have an option to display armors you stored through other characters, though in back ground or a bit blurred so it's visible that they belong to other characters. So it's acoRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO based but you can see what belongs to the character you're playing now.
The monument of Devotion should customise(is that spelled correctly?) minipets to yuor account in steds of your character. It should also display all minipets and pets all your caracters have stored. It would also be nice if it could function bit like a storage without having to switch characters. For example: My necro has Kuunavang, and a copy of her is in her hall of monuments. My mesmer wants to take it out, but I don't want to wait for the loading time to switch between characters. So I go to the hall of monuments, select Kuunavang and press the button that says: "Place in my Inventory" Guild Wars now automaticly switches kuunavang from my necro to my mesmer without having to log in on her. This should be account based
The monument of Valor should display the weapons you want it to, like stated in the first post. This should be character based
And lastly: The monument of Companionship. I agree with someone else who said the system is good this way, since having a hero itself is hardly an acomplishment. However, a compromis could be arranged that you can display the heroes even if you don't have the upgraded armor, though if you don't they're made out of, for example, stone and not painted and if you do they're made from brons, creating more room for details and painted in the right colours. Also you should be able to choose which heroes to show, since I saw there were some problems with that.
For the rest, there should be a quick button, and it would indeed be nice if there was something to customise aside from the monuments themselves.
Hope you like these ideas

Maybe people should be more careful what they ask for. If its account based then you'll only be able to add titles, items etc that are themselves account based.
Pets are not account based, armor is not account based, heroes are not account based, most titles are not account based.
So what we'll be left with are only a monument with account based titles then...oh, that wasnt what you wanted? You wanted character based? Oops.
