Them as in the armors, not them as in the heroes. I like Master of Whispers, I don't like his alternate armors. Same goes for Morgahn, Tahlkora, Zhed, and a couple of others. I see no point in getting armors I don't like just to display the heroes I do like. Might as well just put up a one-time fee of 10k to just display each hero. Would be about the same to me.

Do you view the heroes as part of the identity of your character??? Most likely no, because the heroes are NOT your character. IMO they shouldnt even be involved in the HoM but its not my decision.
If you like your heroes enough to want the in HoM fork over 5k and get them armor, atleast then they are displayed. If not... why care?

That isn't an explanation as to why it should be as it is. My point is it makes no sense. Simply forking over money to display something you already worked toward is stupid, to put it bluntly. Saying that it should require more effort is irrelevant, because anyone could say it should require even more effort than that, and be topped further. Why just one armor upgrade? Why not all of them? Why not also have the stipulation they must be fully outfitted with max everything? At what level is the amount of "effort" just right, and who determines that?
The monument is designed to display what heroes have joined you on your travels - not what heroes you have dressed up or what heroes you have spent time and money on. That's why I suggest it be made to show heroes only when you acquire a "full set." That is an accomplishment. That requires effort. Not enough? Too much? Who cares. Point is, with this suggestion, you have completed a "collection" just like the armor monument. That makes sense to me.

I would agree 100% with that if it were atleast a little bit more difficult to gain the heroes. I have gotten all heroes bar razah on 8 characters, and it was so easy to do I barely remember doing it. Razah is harder, and I have never bothered to get him, however I have been told it isnt too difficult a quest.
Ill repeat this is a hall of achievement. Achievement isnt wat u think is good, but what is actually good. U may be exceedingly proud of ur 60% explorer in 1 continent. 90% of the rest of other people wont care in the slightest about it, because it isnt an achievement. Same thing with heroes. Its simply to show that you have gone to an effort on the hero, not just assumed its right to a place in the Hall coz it exists

I do not want my Perfect req.9 Elemental Sword to have been a waste...I would really love to display it in my HoM for all to see.

Again, by whose standards? Yours? Like I said, what I think is an effort, you don't. What you think is an effort, someone else won't. It is a subjective thing entirely. Look at the PvP titles in the hall for a great example. Someone at Anet obviously thought it was a great idea and involved "proper effort," just about everyone else disagrees and thinks it's too much.
Besides, I think having a requirement of simply gaining the hero and getting their armor upgrade to display them is not enough effort. I believe my suggestion of getting a full set is much more effort. As it is, people can simply make a new character, pick up about half the heroes and get their upgrades in a matter of hours, and already have their hall showing a number of heroes. What I suggest involves having to beat all of Nightfall and do each and every hero quest including Razah to show anything.
It's a bigger reward (all heroes) for a bigger effort, IMO. But then again, that's what we're talking about here, isn't it - opinion.

Even if it is harder (which I am in no way saying) to get all the heroes.... it requires a far bigger sacrifice to get them their elite armors. 5k vs doing what you are going to do anyway... hmmm. And thats not just 5k... thats 5k+ X The number of heroes u want to display. Thats reaching 20k+ easy. I dont know about you, but I dont chuck out 20k at a whim. Your right... u can show heroes in about 6hrs. However inorder to show them overall its harder to gain the items/money inorder to get them displayed.
Do u make a character to take a little distance and then abandon??? No, you take them to finish the game with. If you didnt, u dont expect them to be monument worthy. If you do u get the heroes. For these reasons your idea is flawed. Anet has it perfect with the heroes.
Weapons, Titles, Armor are all fine, and mini pet should become a pet storage system to avoid abuse and adverse consequences to use. Thats my opinion and im going to leave it at that. I'm not going to return to this discussion because I have stated my PoV and there is no point in me repeating it several more times.

I don't really agree with that... my main character is a Dervish and I still wear the Elonian Armor that I got when I reached the Consulate docks. I'm not wearing it because I'm poor or because I haven't advanced far in the game. I'm wearing it because I think it's the best looking Dervish armor (so far). So because of that I shouldn't get to display my armor? I've got ancient armor on my Necromancer and Vabbian armor on my Warrior because those are the armors I wanted for those two particular characters but because my dervish is wearing 1k armor it's not worth displaying...that's a little stupid at least to me.
Anyway, I agree that the hall of monuments needs a lot of work; I was disappointed by it. I hope that it was as crappy as it was because they were not finished working on it. I've got a lot of PVE titles that I worked a lot of hours to get yet they are apparently not as important as PVP titles?

Hmmmm kinda wondering something reading all this....
I have no PVP accomplishments only PvE and these showed up just fine for me.
Hero's & weapons didn't work at all for me , mini's well still need to go through my collection what I want where so no idea.
Armor seemed bugged showing of random (think that will be fixed after to be honest)
also besides the obvious gateway to GW2,does everyone realize there is a story line function to the HoM and that that can exactlly be why it is character based ?(this is partially unconfirmed as of yet)
Yeah sorry only found this out earlier myself so I though I'd add it here.

Two notes:
- I agree HoM must display a copy of your character, not a statue representing the armor in general // HoM could also even used as some type of armor storage BTW.
- About PvP titles requirement too high: Well, maybe that will give you something related with ONLY the PvP part of GW2, so if you aren't a PvPer ... anyway I agree the requirement look too high, specially the rank12 // at least they plan to easy the titles, look at the future Gladiator one.

They need to add a minipet NPC, like the festival hat guy. And register any max title, not just PVP titles.
Also, making the armor monument show the actual armor we put in it would be a nice touch.
And while I'm at it, scrap that "upgraded hero armor" requirement on the ally monument and fix the pet statue so it shows exactly what kind of pet you have.
And I'm not sure if that weapon monument even worked (My sin tried putting Thunderfist's Knuckles in there and it wouldn't take them), so I don't even know where to start on that one...

Well all it said about me was that I beat all three games and had reached Kind of a big deal on the Kind of a big deal title track. It doesn't say which title(s) I have maxed.

I was SURE that the only way to go with the HoM was account-based, but nope, A-net in their wisdom decided to make it character-based. So now my 10 PvE characters are going to have one dodgy HoM each instead of an impressive grand-team-effort-HoM.
Paint me underwhelmed by the whole thing. Fortunately I was never planning to roll my accomplishments over into GW2...I'd prefer to start afresh anyway.

Now, I have not seen the hall of monuments yet, but I am told it is character based. As a player who uses multiple characters, I would stand to benefit from account based, rather than character based, as I tend to cycle between characters and never focus absolutely all my attention on one character only.
For example my elementalist is my character with the high Sunspear and Lightbringer titles relative to the others... my ranger is the Survivor... my ritualist is the Cartographer... each one has something different, but in the end it was me, the player, who did them, on my characters, not several different people, so in the end splitting them up does not make much sense.

There should be a place for PVE titles.
You should be able to show green and gold rare skinned weapons.
You should be able to show level 20 heroes without armor upgrades.
You should see your armor when you put it in.
You should be able to show armor of which you don't have a complete set (for those 'combo' people).
It should be account based.
Simple. Six things they must fix.
If GW is about casual playing then why make a monument to grinding?

It was a huge anti-climax - I dont mind striving for tapestrys to unlock the displayable, but "Oh My God" - My FoW armour is a nasty Rit and female Sin kit - My PvE titles just "dont count" - Care less about the mini-pets but respect those who do - would have been kinda fun collecting them all I guess - And how about a statue of ME!!! - and if someone accuses me of being a moaner - SO WHAT!

Resilience needs a serious overhaul. I was lucky to have Warrior show up for my Primeval, not so much for my Luxon.
Valor really needs an upgrade as well. 11 slots is all fine and good, but really, shouldn't we be able to display the golds that we've spent hundreds of plat on?
