Silly’s Ultimate Question & Answer GW:EN Thread!

In Guru’s ongoing effort to make the forums easier to read and understand, I present to you a very large, organized set of information and typical questions that are asked here daily in the GW:EN forum. This thread will do the following:

Allow anyone to check this BEFORE asking questions or speculating. Doing this allows us Mod’s to not have to constantly close and delete threads because of the same questions asked over and over again.
Keep all of the typical questions in a easy to read format, no more searching for questions!
A nice, Q&A that have been asked over the past week or so, it WILL be updated.

I will start out assuming you own Guild Wars, and are interested in what GW:EN is. I will also assume you’ve been living in a hole for 5 months, and have NO idea what any of this is. With that said, here we go.

1. Basic Information:

Q: What is Guild Wars: Eye of the North?

Q: What kind of storyline can I expect?

The expansion will be released for "an expected price" of $39.99 in North America, £24.99 in Britain and €34.99 in Europe.

2. Pre-release Bonus Pack Information:

Q: I hear there is a Prerelease bonus pack. What does this do for me, and where can I get it?

As it is, currently NOT all stores have the Pre-release pack, although the ones that say they will, most likely WILL have it by the time of Sneak Preview weekend, which will be held on the weekend of August 24-27 2007.

GLITCH! People have been having problems when inserting the Prerelease key. This glitch makes the game say it is expiring in 30 minutes when in reality it is simply the Guild Wars Trilogy Trial DVD trial promotion that is expiring. This is a totally harmless glitch, don’t be alarmed.

3. Heroes in GW:EN

Q: I am buying GW:EN not only for the gameplay, but for the new heroes that I will be able to get, what/who are they?

Currently, most of the heros are unknown. This will change obviously as time progresses, for the timebeing (this will be updated) the following are confirmed as Heroes:

Jora - Hero Warrior (Norn)
Ogden Stonehealer- Hero Monk (Dwarf)
Pyre Fierceshot - Hero Ranger (Charr)
Vekk - Hero Elementalist (Asura)
Gwen - Hero Mesmer (Confirmed Human Hero)

Currently the rest are unconfirmed, although we know there will be more!
Gwen has been confirmed to be the Mesmer hero for the new expansion. All of the other new Heros have been announced, and I will add this as soon as possible.

4. Who is Gwen?

Q: Who is this Gwen girl, and why do I care?

A: For those who played Prophecies, you would have met Gwen as a child, before the Searing. In GW:EN, Gwen will play an important role joining and leading the Ebon Vanguard (a faction in the upcoming expansion).

Many people speculate that Gwen will be a hero, and be a Mesmer hero. Since no other Mesmer heros have been confirmed, it is safe to say that Gwen may very well be the Mesmer hero that we will get in the next expansion.

There is a lot of debating going on with if Gwen will indeed be a hero or just be a side-ally, like Kormir.

5. Bridging the Divide - The Hall of Monuments

Q: What is the Hall of Monuments, and what is its purpose in GW:EN?

6. New Skills in Guild Wars: Eye of the North

Q. What new skills are available in GW:EN?

A. With all new major expansions to Guild Wars comes new skills. GW:EN is no exception, and with that said, heres the list of the 100 new PvE/PvP skills:

7. New Condition: Cracked Armor

Q: What is cracked armor, is this a new condition?

A: Yes, it is a new condition, and we knew about it months before the list of skills were given to us.

8. Other Races

Q: Will be able to be new races in GW:EN?

A: No characters can be created in GW:EN, since its an expansion, not a chapter, and thus no character creation. However new races will be introduces in GW:EN and will give us a peek into what to expect when Guild Wars 2 finally arrives.

Q: Cool, what races will be introduced?

A: As currently known, the Asura, Sylvari, Norn and Charr will be the new introduced. Although we already knew the Charr from Prophecies.

10. Gaile/Frog Talk

Any information given by Gaile concerning GW:EN will be placed here, in no specific order, although in order of date given to me.

No new Elite skills in GW:EN
Data Center has been fully recovered
Dungeons are set to a party Size of 8.
A new "Platinum Edition" Guild Wars will be released in Europe around the beginning of September, and in North American sometime in October, available on the Online Store and PlayNC on August 31st.
The new Platinum Edition includes Prophecies and GW:EN
New Wallpaper will be offered soon.
Guild Wars 2 may have day and night cycles.
With the Data Center failure, some data may have been lost. A rollback would not be possible as the failure did not directly affect everyone.
No extra storage pages with GW:EN
GW:EN does not offer more character slots
AB servers might not be working right
Characters in GW:EN don't need to be ascended
Brand the Boss winners should hear from ANet soon
Return to Tyria Sweepstakes for both North America and Europe will be announced this Friday
No news on a "ranged"-pet for GW:EN
No known plans for a Guild Wars Movie.

I was going to ask you how you know Gwen will be joining and leading the Ebon Vanguard....then I went to check the wiki...there have been updates there since I last visited. Those sound files clear that point up.

Those pics have been removed multiple times from multiple forums. If anyone does post a link, I suspect it would be removed fairly quickly.

Yes, those armor pictures are NOT supposed to be shown on the forums, and they go against copywrite laws. So don't ask for them...we will get them when we're allowed...meethinks.

As for the Hall of Monuments: The new video from IGN mentions "each player" gets their own HoM, so that says to me it is account based (thank God).

Yes, this has been confirmed, so today or tomorrow I WILL be changing this to make it alot more useful, as things have changed!

Just bought a new computer and setting it up, so I haven't been on much, but I look foward to making this Guide alot better.
