It's not nerfed good enough. You can still keg the enemies blocking the door. Just did it. Works great. Did it solo, btw. Extra 10 sec's at each door. With a group, much quicker.

300 asura faction upon completion.
I guess ArenaNerf wants us to spend hours farming Magus Stones if we want to craft armor, even though armor was one of the MAIN PARTS of an expansion that we paid for...

This is still 100% doable just takes longer cause magmus has like 30x the health. Great run for onyx gemstones, Gold weapons, Blobs of ooze (7 can be traded for item that takes off -15% dp for whole party) and asuran faction.

Strange they wanted to change this at all. It, slavers, glints and cathedral is about the only places you actually see people party any more.

Alas, this is - at best - only a vague exageration, based on the 20 (fully triggered off an 8-man party) Pain Inverters it took for me to kill him. There was some regen in-between, since pretty much each PI came off a full wipe, but still... This is a *HUGE* boss buff, although still doable. If they're going to feed a guy this many steroids, they should at least give him some more treasure to guard!
As an aside, I guess ANet must have some kinda useage-monitoring stuff in place (y'know, seeing how many people go where, how many of type-X reward is given out, etc) - thus, if they see hundreds of Magmus' Chest being opened in small time periods, they probably figure something's going on that makes his chest so popular, and in this case they've nerfed it...
So, my question is - do they also look at what quests/dungeons *aren't* done, and similiarly investigate why this part of their game is being ignored by their players?

I'm wondering... if the boss was super-buffed, is it still acceptably doable with a normal party of 8? I don't mean 8 "runners", I mean a balanced party fighting all the way.
I get the impression that with such a buff, 1 human and 7 H/H wouldn't be able to kill the boss now. Only one keg dropper and 7 easy targets?

You don't need to drop kegs to beat Magmus. It's done in chest runs because it's quicker, since everyone is set up for run/survival and not offense.

Sheriff, my run into HoS was with an 8-man H&H (good for Pain Inverter bosses, since they will willingly group around you and thus you get maximum effect when the boss bombs you).
For reference, it was me (Beast Master Ranger), Zhed in Water mode, Ogden and Gwen, with Mhenlo, Cynn (I know, but she helps to clear the way), Lina and Herta.
The run to Magmus was easy enough - since I had always fought my way through to him before the buff-nerf anyway, I hardly noticed a difference.
However, before the buff-nerf, I would hit him with one PI, he'd take up to 720 damage off his first attack and die right afterwards from his second set of damage dealing effects, and then I'd mop up the oozes...
Now, the one PI still does ~1500 damage to him, but it doesn't even graze his HP bar (and of course, the party wipes from the damage inflicted). Like I said, it took about 20 PIs (plus some battling when by chance we survived) with a roughly equal number of wipes before he went down. And the oozes were much more annoying since Magmus was still alive when they appeared...
I wouldn't like to face him *without* Pain Inverter!!

Did you tried to kill him after the update? Even with 8 runners giving him something like 200dmg per second with kegs he survives for a long time and can easily wipe the entire group. I don't know if it is really possible to kill him without kegs know...

I've done the chest runs since the update yes. But no, I haven't fought him in a regular team. I never said it'd be easy, but suggesting it's impossible is more than an exaggeration, especially considering the post made before yours...

I will admit when there is something I like in GWEN. The changes made it a little more challenging, but even more fun. I am still getting laughs with my alliance and guild. This is just fun!
Again, for the ones that think this is about $$. Please remember, I can go anywhere to make money in the game. This is about having fun with a team!
Please remember...
I must not GRIND. GRIND is the mind-killer. GRIND is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my GRIND... I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

The run is definitely still doable, but Magmus is a lot tougher. With enough barrels he goes down, but I'd hate to face him without them. Did you guys see that the whole party is now rezed at the completion of a dungeon? Love it.

Yeah, love that addition. I am glad they made it harder, but still not to the point where I can't play with a pug or with my alliance/guild.
You are not gonna get rich off of the run unless you are very lucky, but it is a lot of fun to do.
