The HoM itself doesn't matter. You're entirely okay putting your armors, heroes+charmed pets, or titles in the HoM, but you need to think carefully about putting Miniatures or Destroyer weapons on a monument.
The things you unlock on 1 character will work directly on 1 character in GW2, so you're probably better off focusing on destroyer weapons/miniatures on just a single character. However, I don't think it will matter in the big scheme of things. I honestly don't think Anet would make unlocks in GW2 something you can't obtain a secondary way, whatever they decide to do as unlocks.

I'd suggest you pick your favourite character and work on their HoM. Better to have one good HoM than several average HoMs. Same with titles, you get a better result grinding points on one guy for max titles than grinding say rank 5-6 or several guys. Unless you really like vanqing the same place over and over.

that is exactly correct and has been officially stated.
the design team will give some very nice *UNIQUE* items/skins/minipets/skills according to what is in the HOM and you can add any qualifying item at any time even after GW2 is live so there is no deadline or rush.
the one thing the design team is being very careful of is that whatever unlocks you get they will be nice but give no advantage over a new player
and i have my opinion of people who say i worked so hard i deserve................it is a game

/agree with mirage, I wish they would cut the destroyer weapons, I wish they could make every weapon that you have in the HoM,saying u have crystalline sword and want it to show it on the how,but cant..but instead lets put destroyer weapons instead, and only destroyer weapons. And I really dont understand why the weapons have to be customized when put it on your HoM.
Just wishing A-net could make this happen, that you can take any weapon of your chioce and put in your weapon HoM section..I think A-Net should make this possible..
Dont you guys agree?

This has been debated many times already.
We asked for two weapon displays, one for destroyer/unlocks and a second for any weapon we choose with no unlocks attached. They have yet to respond.
Personally I tossed in a destroyer weapon for my main char but will hold off on getting any more for my secondary chars untill it is made very plain exactly what reward is tied to what part of HoM and weather or not you require ALL destroyer weapons or just 1 per char to get it.

Just wondering... has there been any word lately on allowing us to, at the least, display greens? I find it impossible to believe the current excuse for a "Monument of Valor" is its final form.

I just got two destroyer weapons for my main character. I had to dye her obsidian armor and existing gloom shield black to match everything up, but the biggest problem is the HoM statue of the weapons. It's very small. (I think the statued axe is actually smaller than the one I'm wielding.) So my recommendation is, if you can't afford destroyer weapons at the moment, focus on other aspects of gameplay and save the weapon purchases for later. IE, before GW2 comes out.

I haven't bought any destroyer weapons yet. I have more than enough weapons already and I'm in no rush to get redundant weapon sets in preparation for GW2. Furthermore...
The way the HoM works in GW1 seems to be a work in progress. There remains the hope that more variety of skins can be added and this thread suggests that they may add new weapons that can be added to the HoM. Based on this information I'm thinking there's a noteworthy possibility that we will get the option to add new weapons to the valor monument.
Secondly, I'm waiting until some useful information is given about how weapons in our monument will transfer to GW2. From the sounds of what Gaile said here I'm not expecting all 10 professions to be translated to GW2. If there will be profession consolidation then I probably will want to consolidate my weapons accordingly. Overall the fact that even basics like the number of available professions are up in the air makes me feel that I would assume too much if I purchased destroyer weapons for GW2 based on the types of weapons I use in GW1 (e.g. my monk uses a sword often for +5 energy and in GW2 a caster monk with a sword could be non-sensical).

If I put a destroyer staff linked to Spawning Power on the HoM will this guarantee me the ability to make a Ritualist in GW2? I wonder...

Raven, the purpose of only allowing destroyer weps in the HoM is to make people play the new dungeons.
Period.

It should also be noted that the destroyer weapon monument is the ONLY monument that does not allow objects from other chapters in it.
Titles are from all chapters.
Heros/pet companions from Nightfall and Gwen.
Mini-pets from all chapters.
Armor from all chapters.

Quite right, but it also was a selling point of GWEN:

So, you can understand if some people feel mislead? (and before you respond, yes, I realize anyone who owns GWEN can get Destroyer weapons. But that's not the point. No other HoM tapestry is GWEN only based... why should Valor be the exception?)

Ranger pets come from Factions and Prophecy, too. (which is probably why they were included in the first place!)
I can only surmise that the Monument of Valor is either incomplete or a blatant attempt to get people to Dungeon grind.

Well, when you put a Destroyer item in, it goes in as a generic version of your item. A Furious Destroyer Sword of Defense becomes just Destroyer Sword, and a Destroyer Strength Shield of Fortitude becomes Destroyer Shield. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

i got one destroyer weapon..simply becasue I diddnt want that wall to be empty...the destroyer bow is down right ugnly and the stats are horrid..the engame bow is better..for what you pay in materials and such for the destroyer weapons..their stats should be a whole lot better than what they are.

They wouldn't need better stats if they were good looking like the tormented ones for example, but since most of the destroyer weapons design is not so good, its only worth buying them if you want them in the hall or you're a collector of high end stuff. Personally id love to put some of my custom stuff in, and not some ugly destroyer stuff...

I'm sure you can't take a Destroyer weapon customized for one of your characters and display it in HoM for another character, but what I'm wondering is...
Can you make a Destroyer Weapon, display it in a HoM then give it to antoher character? Does adding it to HoM customized it like Miniatures?

As much as I (and I am sure many others) would love to display our greens, I really doubt they would allow it. I would like an official statement either way, so I know to either sell my greens and get a destroyer weapon or get a tormented weapons or just save my greens.

Found the answer myself, yes they get customized.

As far as I'm concerned, HoM doesn't even exist, despite the deafening hype Gaile and Anet gave it.

Weapon customization has already been fixed, and the dev's now of the mini-pet dilemma. It's going to be changed so a mini costumized to your character can also be used by all other characters on that same account, if I'm right. That's 2 things already that's changed after the community voiced their concerns, a little more faith in Anet would be appropriate.
