Hard to say. I love the Grail of Might and Powerstone of Courage. Both very useful. It's hard to find places where you'd really, REALLY need them though. Fair enough, they do make the game easier and they are more luxuries than necessities at times. I always keep a Powerstone of Courage incase things go BRUTALLY wrong.
I guess for people who rely on them more heavily than I do, they're well worth the money they spend on it. As for me, I can easily live without them, but that doesn't mean I won't use them for fun, like the Grail of Might, or for absolute necessity, like the Powerstone. Also saves me giving out the candy canes I've been stacking up on.

I think they are great, and they even allow some (not so organized teams) to vanquish some tricky area with eaze. Example would be, whole team going from 45%DP to a 10% Morale boost....love those...Perfect Salvage kits are cool too. All around good idea and good update to the game. Thanks ANET....

I would have to agree, they were a great addition.
The perfect salvage kits are a great tool to swap mods from one skin to another, ie I get a nice shield and swaped 2 perfect mods of a shield with a skin that didnt mesh well with my armor.
The other consumables all have thier uses, just like the cany canes before them.

The consumables vary from nice bonuses to monster items. The problem is they are overkill in most places, but in certain areas the are more than worth it.
Powerstone of Courage is the big reset button. Having one of these in your inventory at all times is a good idea. That way if the party ever takes severe DP and you decide it is worth pushing through to the end and erasing the DP you have the option.
Scrolls of Resurrection are mostly for areas where you can't wipe. Anywhere where all party members can die and then res you should just go wipe and res at the shrine. Not too valuable really.
Essences of Celerity are the best item by far. This is turbo mode for your entire party. Massive overkill for most places, but makes your team pretty much unstoppable.
Grail of Might, really just a mediocre bonus. Nice to have on you, but not really worth it.
Armor of Salvation, a pretty good defensive item. Somewhat worth it.

SIMPLE MATHS :
1 - 60% Dp to +10 MBoost with rainbow = 12 rainbows
2 - 60 Dp to 0 dp with clovers = 4-8 clovers
3 - 60 Dp to +10 MB = 1 consumable worth 1.5k ish + 1 pts
4 - For evrything else, theres Mastercard

Massive overkill imo, and also a big money sink. There's never a time where I've needed any of the consumables, because we either win, or we all die and lose...

Powerstones are nice to have for freaky accidents, when playing with heroes&hench. Menhlo & Lina like to stay in dungeon traps..
For normal mode the rest of buff items are overkill.
Perfect Salvage kit is pretty useful.

I like the consumables, not only because they offer an alternative to the candy canes and other stuff people stock up on to tackle tough areas, but they can be a blessing in some of the later missions in Hard Mode. They can also be used as a gold sink but atleast it's a gold sink that has a use :P

I think they're a nice shortcut for some of the harder content in the game; if you're running into trouble you can throw some money at the problem. I expect to make spot usage of them when clearing out all the dungeons in Hard Mode, for that extra oomph to push through the tight spots with hero/hench. I'm sure they're useful for all but the best teams trying to do content they normally couldn't.
As long as the game never becomes balanced around those consumables, ala WoW, I think they're a boon.
I get more use out of the Perfect Salvage Kits and Scrolls of Resurrection, however. Perfect Kits are awesome for swapping mods around, or for pulling out the expensive crap mods whenever I buy a new weapon; putting some Scrolls of Resurrection in my inventory will give me a similar failsafe of having a Ressig on my bar, without using a skill slot.

PvE with consumables = super easy mode. Honestly, these things make mostly everything in PvE impossible to lose, unless your a full team of warriors with healing signet and frenzy.
Nice gold sink too btw.

I may be crazy but I would have prefered if consumables were only attained through questies.
U
se up your skill points on skills. Skills are like pokemon. You have to collect them all if only for the sake of having a character with tons of skills. Actually I think the only reason I use my skill points up all the time on skills is because I have a wicked ADD and can't use the same build two sessions in a row.

Getting a lot of good reviews, and a few of bad reviews..
Right now I have like 70 unused skill points ( use a lot of tomes most of the time ) an I'm thinking of spending a bit of them on consumables.. Not sure yet..

Nice addition and useful in many situations. As mentioned above henchmen can be idiots and it is nice to give them the boost to help in hard areas.
Anyone know a good area to farm Granite?
