More often than not the skeletons will stop chasing you and return back to a small group. But you'll find that if you go near to them again, they suddenly charge at you for no reason. If you havent guessed, they run straight into the Shadows and start having a nice scrap. so you can run by (you still get hit by the odd spell though, never had Deep Freeze come my way yet though).
Only failed the run 3 times. The morale was, never do it while annoyed.... i kept doing dumber and dumber things (thats why i was killed 3 times in a row).

I was just wondering if any solo rangers on american server would like to maybe team up and split the entrance fee 500/500 to fow. Im a w/me so I would go farm the beach and spider cave, and you would go do the forrest we would be far enough that we would not get each other drops. Also 2 man makes shards drop a little bit more frequently.
Also guide is very well written and seems to work very well.

For those having trouble squeezing by the icehands, I have found that if you cant follow the left wall to get through, going to teh right, the long way arroud is sometimes much safer/ a sure bet.
It took me 7 or 8 tries to actually make it to the forest untill i discovered this trick.

Just a couple questions/comments:
1.) Is this still easily doable with the new nerf to damage reduction? (I saw it done earlier today, just wondering how much harder it now is)
2.) I've seen solo rangers go with chest run groups to make the run (whammo meatshield escort ftw!)...does this interfere with drops (namely those lovely shards) at all?
3.) Excellent work Remmeh, I bow to you.
4.) Thankyou Lams3k for inspiring her, the two of you are my official ranger idols. (not to be confused with american idols)
Thankyou for showing this to us Remmeh.

nice build, the one i use has one skill different (dodge in replace of dual shot) and i use studded armor for extra lightning protection. just something to give more armor against those rock borer worms. =)

1. yes. the damage reduction was sort of icing on the cake... i do it now with a drago's and a vampiric shortbow.
2. it shouldn't as long as the others aren't anywhere near the forest.
3. thanks

1.) Actually for me the main point of this guide/build is not the skills used nor the equipment but how to kill the monsters you're facing. The combo dual/poison/kindle is great to deal heavy damage, and therefore make it faster. The defensive part (the stance, troll, the -2 bow) will help you stay alive but once you really know what to do with those mobs you can eventually play without. I never use the -2 in a stance bow, and a few days ago I clreared the forest without mantra of lightning (I had mantra of frost instead for soloing some part of the Shiverpeaks and forgot to change), and I actually cleared the left side of the forest one time with... a B/P build after all my teammates had left, except 2 of them who stood to watch (ie: I only used barrage, savage, WD, and a 4 arrows troll ungent). Learning to stay out of the spell casting range of the Shepherds for example is more important than having Mantra of Lightning on. For spiders, taking them one by one and using a shortbow to interupt healing spring and distracting shot for apply poison is more important than Physical Resistance pr a 10 arrows ungent IMO. So to answer your question: yes, if you know what to do (ie: if you carefully read here the tips about the different groups), than it's still really easy.
2.) I don't think so, but if the runners decide to go to the forest for a chest they may mess up with the location of the groups - that's probably not a big deal. Just make sure there is not another R/Me in the team if you wanna do so. But IMO if you know the build, paying 1k to get there is not a big deal, as you get way more than that back, and the run is not that hard - there is just the tricky part with the Icehands at the end of this damn corridor: make it easy, and wait for them to fight with the 3 shadows and that will be ok.
3.) Ditto

Hey, well I just sort of stumbled upon this thread while looking through the forums. Looked awesome so I'm putting it together right now. I was just wondering, what are the changes, if any that have been done to the build since the original first post version. Also, what program did you use to record that video? Let me know if you can =D.

First off, excellent guide. I did this for the first time last night and it worked great. Took me 4 tries to get the timing on the run down but after that I went 4 for 4 without dying.
My last run of the night netted me 3 Shards so it was worth it.
Only prob I had so far was with the spiders but I am going to pick up a Vamp bow tonight and try again. Right now I am using a Drago's Flatbow and the modded quest bow you posted about. I also have the zealous Ironwing bow but energy doesn't seem to be a problem here.
I see in your last post you now have 16 Wilderness, did you switch to a Sup Wilderness rune?

Yup, I swap to that for a stronger troll, higher kindle damage, and longer poison. When I run I use all minors.

When you get into FoW, head off to the right immediately. Right before aggroing, hit Storm Chaser and hug the right wall. I've never managed to get Rastigan killed ever.
Finally please stop PMing me ingame about this =) Thanks =) I'll check this thread once in a while.

i was just wondering if you could replace poison arrow with barrage. its seems like the spam, and the ability to hit more than one target might be better than the degen. and as for the spiders, the barrage spam and interrupts made need no room for poison applications. some one just help me out, im short on money and want to see if this is probable rather than go try it and die. thanks

Poison Arrow, Kindle and Dual Shot work great for this area, no need for Barrage.
