I did it with heroes and henchies using the old method of trying to find a scarab outside the fort, teleporting over using necrotic traversal, using vampiric weapons to kill myself and my heroes then rebirthing across there. I found afterkilling the first boss my henchies randomly teleported outside the base on their own *shrugs* It did take my quite some time to get a scarab that i could kill but it was worth it.

The standard procedure for the Necrotic Traversal trick is to fight off the Enchanted Swords and Hammers at the entrance to the fort, run past the enemy ghostly to the ledge to the left of the exit and pin your heroes/hench there. Hope for a fleshy boss within longbow range or get lucky with a scarab, kill it and Necrotic Traversal down to the corpse. Stay within healing range of the H/H and kill off anything else that you may have aggroed. Now the clever bit - flag the whole party back to the enemy ghostly and they should kill him with ease. Then cancel the flag - poof! a full H/H party beyond the locked gate!
That's the bonus sorted with the minimum of effort - unfortunately it can take a few tries until you get something fleshy within range.
Sadly this has to be done separately to the mission - there's no going back :/
(Although, theoretically you could by using the old vamp weapon/rebirth trick and leaving a single hero behind - would be a bit daft, though)
I will leave the simple details of the main mission to somebody else (*cough* prepares to take notes *cough*)

So I probably should have replied to this earlier, but I'll do it now in case anyone else is stuck here.
The method I used for doing mission+bonus was pretty standard - defend the Ghost until you kill the boss that comes in, then leave one (ZB) monk with the ghost, defending him against wurm siege and any other mobs that show up. The other 5 members of the team go out and kill the bosses.
Team I used;
Mesmer (me!)
Ele (player)
2 warriors (heroes)
2 monk (players)
The downside to this strategy is you usually need 2 monk players as heroes are not very good when split, and can cause you to fail. It can also be nearly impossible to kill the bosses with 1 monk and 4 other characters - you have to be very careful with pulls to not aggro Forgotten + Scarabs.

Tried this mission about 9 times over the weekend, since it was a PvP reward weekend, and all but once there was no scarab to necro tran to. The time that there was one, it amazingly crawled across the gully and somehow came into the fort and died there. I still have not found my P key from slamming my keyboard.

I know how that feels, Shiishii.
The most fail-proof way is by luring a boss/scarab (but can require a couple of rezones), killing it and NC/CC over.
However, no need to kill self/heroes and rebirth.
Just equip NC/CC on all heroes and lure some additional scarabs.
On the bosses.
There are 2 spawning points and 2 different spawns.
Only one kind of spawn is right.
That's a ranged boss in range of a long/flatbow.
When you get the warrior boss and no scarabs in range, he's tough to get down and needs a snare since he keeps running away.
I'd surgest zoning in that case.

Doing it 2 parts is the best way. Bonus run then a mission run.
The NT way is the easiest way. I didn't think the ranger boss left a corpse but it did.

If you take a 2nd person with you rather than hero/hench, you can leave him behind and have him trigger the ritual and everyone runs back quickly.
