Whole tournament is a walk in a park for monk or necro.
Just make 55hp build with Spoil of Victor and Vampiric Gaze (this is against mhenlo)
My monk build was:
55HP armors+weapons
Prot spirit
Healing Breeze
Essence Bond
Balthazar Spirit
Spoil of Victor
Blessed Signet
Mending
Vampiric Gaze
Only problematic opponent was Devona (Hammer Warrior)

Its amazing how the rit makes just about any monster lvl 20-31 look like clockwork.

This approach is by far the easiest and most fun...and can wipe the floor with anything out there in 3 seconds flat. Except Magni....he takes more like 5 seconds.
Can be used on an Ele if you replace Wanderlust with Ether Prism for the energy management, though there is probably an easier way of going about gaining energy and keeping Wanderlust.

Ha, no Devona wasn't any harder than anyone. It was Norgu with Shatter Enchant and to a lesser degree Kahmu with Rending Touch. At least with Kahmu, you could reapply PS quickly. Vs Norgu...you died.

Run to just outside aggro ring of any arena opponent, spam spirits 1-5, if it's an opponent that uses enchants put up disench, apply painful, wait 2 seconds, win.
Vs bison put up shadowsong instead of disenchant. The entire tournament takes about 3 minutes with this bar, primary class is totally irrelevant.
|
You win against any opponent in ~20 seconds. Disenchantment isn't really neccessary either, but it does speed up fights against some guys (sliver armor, etc..).
This build is so easy it's basically cheating, you don't even need energy management - just a +20e staff.
Vs Bison make sure you aggro him to the spirits before you cast painful bond, that way he'll waste his purge sig on the blindness from shadowsong. After that cast painful bond on him and wait ~5 seconds for him to die.

Here was my Ranger R/N touch build modified a bit.
Demonic Flesh
Whirling Defence
Lightning Reflexs
Throw Dirt
Offering of Blood(Elite)
Vampiric Bite
Vampiric Touch
Charm Animal
Att's 16 exp. 12 blood
Charm Animal is just for bait for Bison you may have to run around a bit so the pet keeps him busy, watch out he dosen't interrup your throw dirt with his knock down good luck.

I did use holy wrath, no retribution though. This was just testing with a multitude of builds to see if it was something I was taking causing the energy loss. And it wasn't. Tried it with a full mes bar, as well as just about anything else you can think of. Still getting the -10 everytime.

I used a pretty simple degen ranger with interrupts and "You Move Like a Dwarf". I went /Rt for Vampirism because it's easy and free extra damage. Basically, I opened every fight with a Favored Winds outside the arena entrance, Vampirism placed just outside of the opponent's aggro, and a Burning Arrow from that same place. After that, all it takes is one or two well-timed interrupts to settle a fight.
"You Move Like a Dwarf" is a brilliant skill for that tactic. It's an incredible fast interrupt (mesmer eat your heart out) and you can even use it WHILE activating another skill, or in mid-attack. Unbelievably powerful... knockdown, cripple and even good damage once you get that title up.
Once I added "Finish Him!" to the mix, the battles leading up to Magni went by incredibly fast, rarely longer than a few seconds after the first shot was fired.
(I played the tournament quite a few times in a row to boost my Norn rep a bit. A few guildies and I were doing it at the same time and boasting of our mettle. It got me quite a bit of gold in addition to a few thousand reputation. Those tokens went like hotcakes. )

I 55ed with Spoil Victor and Bison went down hard. Everything did actually, though the trapper gave me some trouble because he didn't actually take swings at me for a while until he ran out of energy and all his traps were recharging.
Then my bf tried with his wammo and was killed by Mhenlo, whom was apparently doing a varient of the 55. I found that to be quite hilarious. Does Mhenlo really 55? I didn't come up against him.

Against some builds, Devona had her moments. Norgu, though... Whoah! Deadly! Do NOT use adrenal skills against him!
I went with a hammer Warr build, Wammo at first with Balth Spirit and Healing Breeze, and that owned everyone except Magni, who beat me like a red-headed step-child. So I shifted back to W/N, loaded up Grenth's Balance, Resist Pain, and Dolyak Signet - and never looked back. Knock's down and Stoneskin gauntlets were the core of the build. Made sure to have a mix of adrenal and energy-based attacks, in case that SOB Norgu showed up... The Gavel of Nephilim was just icing on the cake.
Devona and Mhenlo were a bit tough, and had to be worn down with this build concept, but careful attention to detail and patience did for them. Eve lasted less-well, usually biting it around 30 seconds. *If* you're careful, even Norgu will fall - you have to get ahead of him in the cycle, knocking him down quickly, then flooring and interrupting him again every chance you get. Keep Norgu on his butt, and he dies like the rest. Magni himself never lasts more than 15 seconds.

[QUOTE=Kenwryll Shadowstep]I beat him as a R/Rt using a variation of the Oath Spirit Spam build.
Oath Shot, Whirling Defense, Pain, Bloodsong, Shadowsong Dissonance, Nightmare Weapon, Throw Dirt. Expertise 10+1+3, Communing 12, Channeling 8.
Leave the gate, put down the spirits, hit nightmare weapon, Oath Shot, fire a few shots to give an extra health drain spike, and relay the spirits down when needed.

Confirmed to be very efficient, with all of the foes in this tournament. I obtained my crown in no time at all.
The Code: OggjcxYDIP+m5pwB5k5ObfzKDA
I included Serpents to speed up the rechage of my Oath Shot...

I'm wearing my crappy crown right now! I never lost with an earth Ele build. I was using a pure earth Ele keeping up kinetic armor for free by spamming
There isn't much in the way of enchantment removal so an earth Ele with 2 armour enchants is pretty safe. Norgu's dead before shatter enchantments refreshes. With the dervish you need to be a bit more careful.
Menhlo was hilarious with his pseudo-55 build
The embarassing thing was nearly getting killed by Alesia I wasn't running a mesmer secondary and I didn't have an interrupt for healing breeze, so I nearly ran out of energy before she did, but i got her at eventually.
Knowing timing of skills, and when to run and when to fight are the keys I think, with any build.. ... if you blindly go flat out you'll just get stomped.

im sure it has been said already or at least a variation of it, but this is what i used (won't work with war due to lack of energy)
1) Pain
2) Bloodsong
3) Anguish
4) Shadowsong
5) Boon of Creation
6) Energetic Was Lee Sa
7) Painful Bond
8) Summon Spirits
just precast all spirits (save shadowsong last) and as soon as you step into the ring cast summon spirits, and all spirits form a wall around you just as the gates close behind you
cast painful bond after the first time he uses purge signet (from shadowsong's blind)
goes down fast and easy
for a rt secondary use dissonance for more damage and interrupts (best to use at end of chain if used)
ive tested build with paragon and it does work despite low energy. just bring a wand/staff and use anthem of flame (oooo spirits cause fire damage) and anthem of envy

I just beat it with this build. Even with Gwen and Mehnlo in the thing. Actually, the main reason Gaze is in there is for Mehnlo. The others were just kind of an afterthought. Plague touch is a live-saver too. Also. I don't own NF yet.
