Well for my sin I beat the tourny about 5 or so times in a row using this build:
Golden Phoenix Strike
Death Blossom
Moebius Strike [E]
Critical Agililty
Mystic Regeneration
Critical Defences
Critical Eye
"You Move Like a Dwarf!"
Attributes are 8 earth prayers, 13 critical strike and rest into dagger mastery.
I used "You move like a dwarf" to stop Bisons bear form, i also used it to stop skills that would cause problems, like Gwens signet of midnight and argos stoneflesh aura.
Hope it helps.

Pretty much Lukas' build, really. I'm totally noobin' it up!:
1. Auspacious Parry
2. Riposte
3. Generic Adrenaline Attack
4. Lion's Comfort
With this build, you simply need to smash/roll your face into the keyboard and TUDAAAH! A winnar is you!
Of course don't do stupid shit, either - like hitting Lukas or standing in traps.

Well, yeah, that's part of the reason why it should be done. A Rit with a full bar of spirits (or /rt for that matter) is just one of many, many builds you could bring. I have a newsflash, there are many builds that you simply cannot bring into this tourney and expect to do well. There are, however, many different ways you can go about it, all which require some amount of skill, and some chance of losing, except this kind of spirit spamming.
Besides, doing what I said makes it a little more realistic. Think about it: if you're going to 1v1 someone, they're not going to just sit there and wait for you to poop out a ton of spirits, then only react when you wand them or hex them or enter their aggro bubble. This is purely a fault of how PvE AI is programmed (to only be aggressive when [player] enters aggro), while this should be a mimic PvP battle of sorts.

This is what I use, it works well against most enemies in the tournament and it works well against magni.
[skill]Mantra of Earth[/skill][skill]Stone Striker[/skill][skill]Ward of Weariness[/skill][skill]Stoneflesh Aura[/skill][skill]Shockwave[/skill][skill]Obsidian Flame[/skill][skill]Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support[/skill][skill]Sliver Armor[/skill]
Ebon vanguard sin+shockwave+obsidian flame=mini-spike.

Most of the builds that get the job done in the tourny seem to be gimmick builds. Given the fact that some primaries just simply lack gimmick build potential, it's probably a very, very good thing that there's a gimmick build that works regardless of primary. Is it a bit too easy to use? Probably. Is it better to have a too-easy-to-use one-size-beats-all gimmick than have some primaries that just can't win, or need to waste a bunch of plat waiting to draw the right chain of opponents? I think it is. That's why I'm in favor of leaving this tactic viable.
Besides, while it may be easy, it's also expensive. For most characters, that's 7k, plus 1 hero skill pt, plus a trip to tannakai temple explorable (or an elite rit tome), plus a 20e staff (if you can't lend one across characters). At that price, I think most people are going to at least try to beat the tourny once or twice for the quest and the heroes using the skills they already have. Having the option to give up and buy the way through what's supposed to be an early quest for 7k+ doesn't strike me as a terrible horrible thing.

I did something similar
I used dual-attunement, lightning orb/hammer, blinding flash, gale, Aura of restoration, enervating charge
Using that build pretty much all the foes you face are complete push-overs..

Grenth's Balance Distracting Blow Drunken Blow Riptose Deadly Riptose Flail Doylak's Signet Healing Signet
att: 12+1+1 tact 9 swords 9 str.
2 weapons: 1 normal max dmg 15^50 20/20 30hp sword, sheild doesnt matter, and second sword is any sword basically, req 9 or lower, with a vampiric mod.
Vamp weapon is really only for fighting Mehnlo. all the other charecters are owne by this. just use the normal sword on the rest.
Tactic: When the match starts, target the opponent, use distracting blow to start running to them. Half way to them hit Deadly Ristose. When you get there immiediately use drunken blow. When you stand up, use doylaks followed by healing sig, then riptoose, flail, deadly riptose, and healing sig.
Always keep your eye on your health, and your energy. If you don't have ten, spam healing sig and rip until you do. Once at 150 hp if they havce higher health, hit GB, followed by rip, deadly rip, and drunken blow. If they try to heal sig hope you have the five energy for distracting blow.
Pretty much simple kills every time. out of 10 fights, i got my crown and lost four times. Those four were on bison, while not paying attention because i was watching tv. I've had my crown since about 1 pm pacific yesterday, and this build seemed to work over and reliably for me. try it.

This is most impossible for me. I have been lucky enough to get a glitch where every single hit I take I lose 10 energy...every hit from every opponent.

Trade Essence Bond, Balthazar's Spirit, and Scourge healing for Signet of Mystic Wrath, Bane Signet, and Symbol of Wrath (or Kirin's Wrath I think is the equivalent) and you own it and don't have to deal with the maintained enchants.

Thanks to these Two posts I was able to get my monk thru. I used ArYeS build that was then revamped by Telomir but then I took out the elite Shield of Judgement and I put in Ursan Blessing and I used mending instead of Reversal of Fortune.
This is the order I have for my monk build.
Bane Signet
Holy Strike
Castigation Signet (new EotN)
Signet of Mystic Wrath
Kirin's Wrath
Ursan Blessing
Mending
Protective Spirit
Anyways I would go in and fight the first 5 fights as a normal monk(full health) using Ursan blesing which gives you a total new skill set. Ursan Blessing can take out 90% of the mobs so its just a matter of bad luck if ya get one you can't. Its also a bit of timing but once you get it you can kill them quick. Note: Having a smiting rod helps to to get those max hits in between casts.
Once Magni pops up switch gear to 55 monk throw on Mending and then Protective Spirit yourself continously and just smite him to death. Make sure to use Bane Signet since Holy Strike is dependent on if he is knocked down to do more dmg. Rest is use when ever they are up.
Good luck and beat Magni down!!!!

My Assassin can beat Magni without even breaking sweat....
... But he doesn't stand a chance against Eve.... and Norgu, Argo and Headmaster Zhang are also significant threats....
Bloody anti-melee builds.... v_v;

The only ones I found hard were Danika and Cynn on my Mesmer.
I used
Signet of Midnight
Empathy
Backfire
Ether-Feast
Complicate
Ignorance
Physical Resistance
Price of Failure
16 Dom
10 FC
9 Inspiration
Gold Inscribed Staff w/ same stats as Forgotten/Staff of Despair
It worked really well and I'm sure if you wanted to a non-mesmer primary could run that fairly well and counter most builds with ease.

As a warrior I used the adrenaline skills + elite glad defense + deadly riposte + drunken blow (very efficient) which must be used just after Dolyak + healing signet.
Like in AB I have 4 weapons + 4 different shields vs each damage = I rock......
EVE is a nasty bastard, if I fight her I have to restart all
Monks are not easy but I am stronger LOL
I even fought a GHOST - Rastigan cousin or brother - & gave him a good lesson.....
PS/ Concerning the Derv I have been told a Derv/Assassin build using DAGGERS !!!!!! the guy said he killed each foe even Bison within 10 seconds.....here it is in french.....help yourself

this build works very, very well for my assassin. The only change I recommend is critical strike instead of dreath blossom. It's slower on the recharge, but you get a crit and alot of energy, which helps.

Suprised no one is brining rits thru this. Lay down wanderlust, pain, shadowsong, bloodsong, vampirism, anguish/dissonance, and painful bond. After that just use summon spirits after you aggro-ed, using yourself as bait so ur spirits arent the first to be atked then sit back and watch him get knocked down, blinded, and interupted. Cast dissonance after wanderlust die though for safety measure.
Its amazing how the rit makes just about any monster lvl 20-31 look like clockwork.
