Getting there.
now at 98.5
First of all, thanks a lot, jos, for all the hard work you are putting into this forum. Many of us would not get the title, if it hadn't been for you. I took your advice and did the whole Windows Fax/Print Preview with your map and I have seen some places, but areas like above Borlis Pass and such, I can not get it....I have tried from Vale, Mines and Pass and nothing seems to clean. So, when ya get a chance, please have another look.
Thanks Again.

ok, I posted a little early last time, but I'm at 99.8% now and stuck.
For the people that are below 98%, I would suggest following the instructions the_jos said earlier. Set your graphics to the highest resolution possible, open your map, zoom out and hit Shift+Prt Scrn. Then compare your map with another map on this thread that is 100%. Just switch back and forth between your map screen shot and a full one quickly to see what you missed.

From what I can see, you are still missing:
a good part of Dunes in the bonus area
the lower southwest part of Snake's Dance
Some middle part in Deldrimor Bowl
a northwest part of the area in the Frost Gate mission (may need the necrotic traversal trick for this)
some of the southern most part of hell's precipice
some area on the western side of Lonar's Pass
That won't get you 100%, but it should give you something to work on until someone more experienced can analyze your map better.

XvArchonvX,
You have an odd format (1280x800?) but I can see that you don't have the spot above Ice Caves mission outpost uncovered (below Icedome). That area nets about .2%, afaik.
If that area is not enough, please take a good look at the upper side of Thunderhead Keep (west part). I think there is fog on it, but not sure.
The same thing for the north wall of Riverside Province mission.
Compare your zoomed out map to mine on page 164 for those spots.
Hope this gets you to 100%, if not, please post a 1024x768 or 1280x1024 map.
Darkfaith,
Try the following places:
- North and west wall of Anvil Rock
- Deldrimor Bowl center rock formation (far upper side and west center side) and east wall. Also south wall
- Regent Valley, tar lake
- Aurora Glade mission outpost, area behind merchant
- Thunderhead Keep west upper side
- Point between Droks and Ice Caves mission, explore from Droks (north east)
- Riverside mission outpost, west side
Orual Fox,
You get the upper side of Borlis Pass by not talking to Rurik, but walking behind him and hugging the buildings there.
You also missed the spot at the start of the mission, walk back a little and to the north.
Furter:
- South area of Nolani is not clear
- Also for you, the tar lake at Regent Valley
- Spot west of D'Alessio Seaboard mission outpost entrance.
- South wall of Cursed Lands and adjenct part in Black Curtain
- Spot in Gates of Kryta mission, north west of the first boss (could also be that you have to hit it from right below the entrance to North Kryta).
- Area between The Falls and Reed Bog
- Upper wall Riverside Province mission, also kill last east outpost and walk to water and on pier.
- Grent's Footprint south wall (west side) is not clear
- Like XvArchonvX, you have missed the area above Ice Caves mission
- Mineral Springs east wall is not clear, also a spot on center south wall
- East wall Iron Mines mission
- Upper side Thunderhead Keep, also south wall
- Dunes bonus area (upper west wall)
- Thirsty River south west corner (ranger boss building)
I hope I can check some more maps soon.
For those wanting their title sooner:
Check areas mentioned in this post and earlier on this page (172) to see if they are clear. A lot of them are quite common missed places.
You can compare to my maps on page 164 how they look.
The maps are clear, except the mentioned spots (on page 164) and a few very tiny ones (I'm clearing them up at the moment, but it takes time to identify the spots and clear them).

*edit* I hadn't reloaded the thread recently, so I missed your post the_jos, but thank you for all the advice and maps you shared on this thread, they really made a difference for me.

Frequently missed spots
I have listed the most frequently missed spots I have seen when comparing maps.
This is on maps 98% and higher.
I have spotted most on several maps, all can be finished by a lvl 20 character.
- Ascalon Arena outpost
- Great Northern Wall mission, south west part (explore in mission, from Old Ascalon and The Breach)
- Old Ascalon, tar lake
- Regent Valley, tar lake
- Fort Ranik mission, south west part
- The Breach (breach itself)
- South wall Diessa Lowlands (from Breach entrance)
- North-west corner of Eastern Frontier
- Ruins mission, the river east on the east side.
- The tar at Ruins of Surmia (top), explore from near bonus area
- South wall Nolani mission
- Diessa Lowlands west wall (below the Ascalon Foothills entrance)
- Yaks bend, Arena outpost
- North wall of Borlis Pass mission, also north part near starting point
- Borliss Pass west wall (also explore a part from Frost Gate outpost north)
- Frost Gate east wall and low south east corner
- North and west wall Anvil Rock
- Deldrimor Bowl central rock formation
- Deldrimor Bowl south wall (explore near the little building halfway)
- Top and west wall of Deldrimor Bowl are not clean
- Beach above Gates of Kryta outpost
- Gates of Kryta outpost (forgot area name): spot outside the outpost, below entrance to North Kryta Province
- Gates of Kryta mission, the area with undead in Gates of Kryta (behind Oink)
- Gates of Kryta mission, north west from first boss
- The lighthouse in Lion's Arch
- East side of D'Alessio mission (I think you can hit the spot from the boats in Lion's Arch).
- Rock formation west of D'Alessio Seaboard outpost entrance
- D'Alessio west wall (where you deliver bonus item)
- North Kryta beach (west side)
- North wall Nebo Terrace
- South wall Cursed Lands
- The wall above Beetletun (west exit)
- Black Curtain south east corner (east of Kessex entrance)
- Wall near entrance Kessex Peak
- Kessex Peak south west corner (near the floating fort)
- Divinity coast far north-west corner (hug the wall in the swamp), also explore behind the bonus-reward person (east side)
- the lake near the bonus area in The Wilds mission
- The Wilds outpost (north side)
- Bloodstone mission, area behind last boss
- Wall between Reed Bog and The Falls
- Mamnoon Lagoon, south wall.
- Silverwoods, west wall near entrance to Ettin's Back
- West wall Sage Lands
- Aurora Glade outpost, behind merchant
- Aurora Glade bonus area
- West side of Henge of Denravi ( I think where the collectors are)
- Tangle Root east and south wall
- Riverside mission outpost, west side
- Riverside Province: south-west corner (at 'bonus area', walk behind the obstacles)
- Riverside mission, kill last east tower, walk to water and on pier
- North wall Riverside Province mission (near where you get the scepter)
- Sanctum Cay mission, far east side (run past the end-point,
without triggering and move east), same for south east corner.
- south of Amoon Oasys, keep hugging the wall on your right
side all the way down to you reach a couple of large bones.
- Outside Amoon Oasys is a collector on the rocks (near first
portal).
- the west wall above Heroes' Audience.
- Elona Reach south site (just below the point where you enter).
- Dunes mission, bonus area
- The Scar west wall
- Thirsty River south west corner (ranger boss building)
- Spot inside building of the monk-boss Thirsty River (east side)
- Tombs outpost
- Spot between Droknar's and Ice Caves outpost (explore from Droknar's north east side)
- Ice Caves of Sorrow, Evinia's cell.
- Talus Chute east side, between Ice Caves outpost and Icedome
- Talus Chute, north wall (near Icedome entrance)
- Witman's Folly, get outside Drok's and expore the area just south of the exit
- Port Sledge west wall (inside outpost)
- Iron Mines west wall
- East wall Iron Mines mission
- Thunderhead, south wall (just after mission starts, probably inside outpost)
- Upper side Thunderhead Keep
- Mineral springs north east corner (Ice Imps)
- Mineral Springs east wall
- Snake's Dance, south west corner
- Grenth's Footprint, north-east corner
- Grent's Footprint, white area 'above' SF entrance
- Spearhead Peek, spot on the wall (explore from Spearhead and Tasca's Demise)
- spot on the low east wall of Spearhead, I think you can reach it from the Copperhammer outpost (north side).
- North East wall of Icedome (could also be in Frozen Forrest)
- Hell's mission : You get into the water near the 'river' and with right
position you should be able to uncover a small piece connecting to Abaddon's.

Dr.thug1230,
Doing a fast compare on your map tells me post #3439 has a lot of spots missing on your map.
Also, I noticed that you missed the north side of Sanctum Cay mission.
MrTickle,
Same message you and also north Sanctum Cay.
Your desert also needs some serious work (you missed an entire outpost there)
Iwa Ryu,
Also the north of Sanctum Cay and post #3439
Darkfaith,
Anvil Rock, Deldrimor Bowl south wall, Aurora Glade outpost, Spot between Drok's and Ice Caves outpost, north Thunderhead also south, Spot in Spearhead Peek, Wall below Iron Mines mission outpost, tar lake regent valley.
ShadowVx,
Experience tells me you probably lack a lot of spots mentioned in #3439
Dooms,
I can see North rock formation Riverside mission, can you repost at 1024x768 or 1280x1024, it's hard for me to compare your map since it's an odd size.

hey jos, great job with what your doing here! not many I know that would take the time to help people out with the few percentages they need. Could you take the time to post your procedure, and perhaps a map? Or do you simply use the difference model? If your using the difference model, I have seen some without clouds and are very dark. Any suggestions for fixing these? Keep up the great work man!

Star Gazer,
My primary compare map is on page 164 (two postings, 1280x1024 and 1024x768).
I am cleaning it up, but that has less priority.
I think I have cleared an other .2-.4 so far.
I am however still comparing with the originals of the ones on page 164.
The method I surgest for maps below 98% is saving a 100% map and the non 100% one in an empty folder and use the 'Image and Fax viewer' (think it's called that in English) to switch between them.
You can see slight differences on the map.
For maps > 98% this does also work if the explorer has done a good job and has a lot still covered in one area.
Only two pictures in the map speeds up the loading a little and makes sure you are always looking at the right maps.
The only method I use is visual compare.
I use a graphical program that supports layers (GIMP in this case).
I load the map and my 100% map as a layer.
Then zoom in to 200% and switch one layer on and off.
I use the 200% zoom since this makes it easier to see the difference
I can work with the difference model, but as long as my 100% map is not 100% clear I have a lot of problems with the clouds.
Fixing existing difference maps can be done.
I never tried it, but I think you can use them as a mask on a 100% map and highlight the differences.
This does require some knowledge about the graphical program you are using.
I 'quit' full compares on maps < 98%, those consume a lot of time and can be cleared by looking at the frequently missed spots.
I'm very sure that a lot of people above 99% are missing spots I've mentioned in #3439.
Fast comparing a 99+ map (with the viewer or a graph. program) takes a few minutes, but working the spot outs makes the total compare proces from downloading the map to posting the spots between 15 and 30 minutes for a single map. Comparing a map less than 99% takes a lot more time, since there are a lot more spots that need to be examined.
I'm also second in command in [LotU] and sometimes need to solve ingame issues in the guild. That also cuts playing time.
On the other hand, I still like to do the compares and help people out.
I did my compares today when we were waiting for a guild event to start, so no playing time lost there.
Not to rant or something like that, just to make sure people understand that I don't always have time to compare maps and they can clean up a lot themselfs without me doing a full compare.
I think my maps on page 164 are good enough to do most visual compares, since almost all leeway is in one spot.
This map, combined with post #3439 should enable anyone to get to 100%.
