Please. I only own it because I'm an armor collector.

I don't see why you'd be offended with some one else's personal preferences. I think the warrior's FoW is the ugliest in the game as well. I can imagine people buying it if they actually liked the looks of it, but buying it for status symbol? Well it's their money, after all.
|
I have to disagree, have you ever seen female ranger FoW? The only characters I would consider spending that much money on are my warrior (yuck), ranger (double yuck), and paragon (so-so). BTW, seeing that mesmer combo really makes me want to remake my mesmer.

Chaos Gloves are horrible. They really are horrible.
With the Chaos Axe it at least worked because it was just another weapon. But these just look stupid. They're just too stupidly bright to work well as armour.

I think best warrior combination are with light armors like gladiator or vabbian. Warriors also have advantage of having a chaos axes available, which matches nicely.

That looks better than Crom's combo, but I think it'd look much better on a female warrior.

the pic with the warrior w/ chaos axe and gloves is very nice. Whether you like them because they look cool (imo they do) or only because they are expensive, its up to the individual to purchase them.
So much hating on people who have them, i feel sticky. Just because you're poor (for whatever reason) doesn't mean that people who have them are wrong somehow.
I cant afford them (yet) but i see it as something to work for. Its only 75 ecto, its not like you need to farm for months straight. I'm almost there and all i've been doing is the challenge missions (Cores and Cloths = $$) and dungeons.
On a similar note, does anyone have a pic of someone with both destroyer gauntlets and a destroyer wep? I think that would look cool.

Imo you need to have armour that cuts off at the shoulder or the wrist for Chaos Gloves to have any chance of looking good. Elbow tops like the glad armor above look bad.

Now ya see, if we had those things to put onto kids hands. You wouldnt have to worry about loosing them in the shops!
I dont mind those gloves, but when you have more then 1 person in an outpost with them on, you need sun factor 50 and a pair of shades on.
Otherwise you get radiation exposure!

When I first saw the Chaos Gloves I thought they looked great and immediately wanted a pair. The cost was slightly... worrying considering I don't really make much but, as I wanted a pair, I just worked at it. It only took me a week to get the materials needed, so though they may be expensive, as stated before they're definitely not impossible to achieve. Hell, I started with just 7k and went from there.
Though the torso armour is cut off at the elbows it vaguely looks like sleeves so that's no worry, plus when I randomly equip a Chaos Axe it just looks cool, especially in dark areas:
Now I just need to recover from being utterly poor.

Hey thanks for those screenies, I was thinking of buying a pair to dye purple to go with the axe and tormented shield set I have, but was unsure. Now I know I'm doing it =P
When it comes to the cost though, yes, it's an elite item. 75 Ectos at a cheap price (4.4k) still decodes to about 340k total crafting cost. Some people see a lot more than that in thier career, some will see a tenth of that before quitting. But stop knocking on them. I'm very grateful that there are more elite armor objects now sintead of just straight up sets of 15k, or FoW, which looks rediculous for the price, which was really designed for the people that play a lot and want to show their sucess, not for average Joe who gets on and plays maybe an hour in two days.
Chaos Gloves are not for Joe either, as most likely destroyer gloves are also not. For this, I'm glad. Ir provides a very sweet looking alternative to 15k straight sets or just wasting money on ugly FoW pieces.

They do look nice if people don't do the stupid thing and dye them black. They need an aura to look nice.

Aside from doing Glint's Challenge around 10 times to sell the Cloth and any cores I didn't need, I basically spent about 5 to 9 hours a day (usually at night when I should have been sleeping) buying and reselling easily sellable items.
It was, I must admit, one of the most mind numbing excercises possible in Guild Wars, but a hell of a lot better than grind, for me at least. If you're a power trader, then huzzah for you, these gloves shouldn't present any problem at all. If you're Joe Average and play for fun, these will.... take 'a bit' longer to get...
Still, completely worth it. Now to aim for a Dread Mask!
