Secondary profession quest
I recently started Nightfall and chose a Dervish, I was wondering if there was a way to avoid doing the secondary profession quest. My reason is that I really want to have Assassin as my secondary. Unfortunately Nightfall doesn't appear to offer that (or do they?). I have all 3 campaigns, and I've played the majority of Prophecies so I'm familiar with Ascension.
So does Nighfall do the same, and require me to go through Ascension quest(s)? and does this absolutely require me to do the initial secondary profession training quest? I can only assume its mandatory if I have any hope of becoming a Dervish/Assassin.
Are there any ways to shortcut this?

You'll gave to pick another one and wait till you hit a profession changer. It looks like you'll be able to use the NF or Factions profession changer.
The quickest way would probably be to get a ferry to Kaineng and then play the story line up to Sneji's.
Of course Assassins not being a base class in NF, there is no secondary profession class for Assassins

You can do it either way, both work since you're Elonian. Zuwarah, the Profession Changer in Command Post (Nightfall) gives you all choices that are available on your account.

So you are saying I need to choose a secondary profession, then proceed to get a ferry to Senji or Zuwarah.
My question then would I be able to return to Istan to complete the other quest? Right now I'm only a Level 5 Dervish, and I have hardly done any Istani quests yet.

Well... to get to Zuwarah would probably take Longer and you'd pretty much have to follow the primary quests until you get there.
To get to Senji you'd have to get a ferry to Kamdan and the complete the main story arc until you get to senji... this is likely to be shorter.. but unless you have guildies run all the quests for you you probably wont make it because you're only level 5.
You'll have to come back to Istan to do your attribute quests and all that so.. just pick a secondary and play through. Probably your best choice. There's still plenty of NF left to play once you hit the profession changer.

Yes, you'll be able to return and pick up where you left off, if you hitch a ride over to Factions. However, getting to Senji isn't quite as easy task as towns come with locked gates. It will probably cost you a bit for the ferrying(nevermind the time it takes to find someone willing to do it).
Getting to Zuwarah requires you to follow the NF storyline anyway, so you should be done with those quests by the time you get to him.
*edit tek types faster then me. Oh, he means Kaineng btw, not Kamadan.

Sounds like I'd be putting myself through a lot of frustration just to get Assassin secondary. Seeing how I'd be doing Faction quests to open gates just to gain access to Senji. I was really hoping I could return and pick up where I left off with out too much of a hassle.
I really wish ArenaNet made it so if you had all the campaigns you could have any secondary you wanted. I understand the current restrictions from a marketing perspective, but I'm not sympathetic about it at all.
Thanks for the advice.

LOL.. you can have any secondary you want. You just have to play though a bit of the game to get there. Honestly if you're a moderately experienced player you should be able to get to a point where you can change your secondary to Assassin with a day. So I dont really see what the big deal is... and if you're really looking forward to playing the game as a D/A you'll still have about 2/3 of NF, All of Factions, Prophecies and GWEN. Plenty of game left to play.

When you do it you can say " I am not ready for my Secondary profession" at the end of quest and you get all and full reward.
