Cyndr the Mountain Heart.
What a complete moron. I just can't kill him, he's an idiot. He takes out my whole party in 10 seconds. SERIOUSLY, WHAT THE HELL was going through anet's mind when they designed this mission. I spent at least 30 minutes getting to him, only to be embarrasly defeated in less than 10 seconds, causing me to restart. This really upset me, and showed me how anet has that wonderful ability to piss people off. Protective spirit doesnt help, because I can't cast it on everyone in the party, because it doesn't last long enough. It's complete bull****. Just someone please give me some tips on how to do this....

If you do it with other players it's easy, no strategy needed.
With H/H use touch rangers or life stealing.
I was never able to pull off touching him with two touch heroes and myself as a toucher - I think you gotta give the heroes a melee wep and/or manually control them.

Do with real people and use powder kegs to weaken him...if 3 or more of your party put kegs near him it weakens him a bit and you can attack him.

You can easily H&H this. 1. Flag your hero's at the entrance away from him. 2. Have one of your heroes (or yourself) have protective spirit. 3. While under the affects of protective spirit grab a keg, drop it at him and run back. Rinse and repeat. Before you drop the third keg unflag your heroes and drop it. Then hit him with everything you've got. Once he goes under re-flag your H&H and wait.
Only took me 2 rounds of this to kill him.
Edit: Illusion of haste is very useful

H/H.
Round 1: Got owned. Restarted.
Round 2: Flagged heroes in a triangle around Cyndr and just dropped kegs on him till his carapace was down. Took him to about 3/4 health before he regenerated it and then he rolled my party. Rez was only 20 feet away so we just ran back, triangle formation, drop kegs, kill carapace, then kill him.

This is very easy as long as you take a hero with protective spirit and can keep aggro you can walk all over the big old ugly worm.

Wow, what the hell? Flag your heroes seperately, the henchies have to stay together but it's not the end of the world. Flag them *off* the lava. I assume you're not doing HM so it's not as if he will instagib you each shot. Run kegs to him, when the carapace thingy reaches zero call target spam on him and attack... rinse, repeat.
And yeah, there's a res shrine right next to it so you really can't fail.

When people respond with posts like "This is so easy or How can you fail at this?" You have to understand sometimes its the very first time people are facing cyndr so they might not be setup to fight him. I mean I remember the very first time I encountered him, got to him after around 30 mins... I was thinking finally, I'm done. Suddenly a big wurm comes out of no where and he annhilates me.
Sure its a lot easier the 2nd time when you know what to do and have set up your team accordingly but the very first time you ever run into him and you haven't pre read up on the mission I'm gonna bet you're gonna have at least some kind of trouble.
On another note, like others have said there are many other threads dealing with this however

Opp: I had the same feelings you had when I did it for the first time (and believe me, this is happening in many dungeons and its even more annoying when it takes an hour to get to the endlevel). Follow the links posted in this thread. The touch ranger build is excelent. I beated Cyndr with a variation without the Faction skills (posted there too), but if you have Factions than better use the original build. No need to flag there, just run in and let the touchers do their jobs. I added touch skills to myself too, and used two fighter henchies purely for tank/survival.
I don't know if it makes difference, but to be sure that the rangers used touch skills I equiped them with mellee weapons. And of course a focus for extra energy (and when possible halve skill recharge time). Good luck!

I ran this yesterday with a buddy. We each had a touch Pyre and Cyndr was down before we had all 5 kegs run to drop the carapace.
I was surprised at how quick it went using this strategy.

Very hard to flag heroes and henchies in a triangle when he BLOWS HALF THE PARTY UP BEFORE THEY CAN GET THERE!
Same for all other strategies.
Again, I'd say try a touch ranger build or get a partner.

Do remember that not only is he powerful with his attacks, but the field you're on is constant burning (except in some spots).
I actually found the burning aspect more annoying than him.

I did this on my war pretty easily, i forget how. When i recently tried this with my ele though, it took me a couple fails to make me try a pug, which actually worked. The only thing real ppl can do better than heroes is spread out, but it obviously works here. Also ward against harm.

Play some FPS and maybe you'll have a fast enough mouse hand to flag your heroes before you get wiped like a baddie.

This is a Half-Life fan FYI. By the way, I mean when you have been wiped and are at the res shrine. His range can see the party as far as the opening into the large cavern, and his projectile can usually hit before the heroes are far enough from each other to avoid widespread pain.
Also, unless you want the challenge, again, just get a PuG - admittedly they pull it off quite well. I had to do this on my Dervish today, the party was:
-Warrior
--Ogden (Hybrid)
--Livia (Life Degen)
--Vekk (Random Fire Ele)
-Other Warrior
--Ogden (Heal)
--Pyre Fierceshot (Barrage for Earlier Levels)
-Me (Generic Dervish)
Me and the two Warriors each grabbed a keg before running into his cavern, then we dropped as soon as we saw him. We attacked like wild animals and got him to about 1/3 his health. Grabbed kegs again and hit him as soon as he popped up, that easy. No casulaties except Ogden #2, but he had high DP from the trip down to the third level.

You dont have to flag them around him and let them get nuked running there, just get them set up spread out before you try and touch the hammer.
Yea they may be out of range for a couple of his popups but at least they are safe and healing.
Hell i just set em up once and ran the barrels, one time he was out of range for them but no big deal.
