Default I can haz Underworld, but does I want ?

After about a month of playing GW I have a level 20 char that can access the Underworld. I already have a scroll so I don't have to pay and I'm in the Chantry of Secrets promoted to Lightbringer.

I usually don't check with wiki unless I'm stuck somewhere but I checked out the Underworld section.

I've read where most players get killed in the beginning and about the different missions available.

One thing I didn't get was it says if one person in your party dies you all return to the outpost. If I die and one of my heros revives me would we still be returned?

It says you only get the rewards if you do all the missions. I'm not going to be nieve enough to think I can go down there and get the chest but is there anything I'll be able to do down there or is it just a suicide mission for a new player?

I see I can take Heros but no henchies. That means I HAVE to get at least one other human with me? I'm thinking it's foolish to go down with less than 8 in the party.

I'd at least like to check it out but should I just wait until I finish the campaign or I'm more confident in my skills?

(I made it past Dasha Vestibule with heros & henchies so I don't totally suck)

I've only played with a Guild member once but I see them on-line. Should I just ask who wants a free trip to the Underworld and see who I can get to go along?

Honestly, with the UW and FoW....you'll never know until you try. They are the kind of places that you go a couple times and die once or twice before you seen how it all goes down.

It's entirely possible to go and clear the place your first time, but I would assume without the help of wiki or other players experienced to UW, that it would be quite hard.

Basically, don't hesitate. Just go and do your thing and see what happens. I mean, you only lose 1k.

Finishing the campaign would be a good idea. A truly experienced player can easily convince another player to go in with him with good heroes and leave so he can beat it with himself + 6 heroes. At your point, the lightbringer title is useless in the Underworld, and knowledge of the quests is crucial. I'd say find a good guild group or something like that to go in with after you beat the campaign. Then even if you don't win at least you'll be experienced and no what to change as well as knowing what quests mess you up.

As for your original question, if your party wipes, you lose, and if any NPC dies at all you lose

What I would do is read up on the wiki on what you will be facing and decide what poses the biggest threats to you. Build a 7 man party (you and 6 heroes) around these threats and then just ask a guildie to spare a moment of his time. After you enter the UW with their heroes in tow, they can leave. You can then go at your own pace, read wiki, even go afk if you need a break, and the heroes will always be ready for more.

Your first time in, you should be a little concerned about aatxe, so bring someting that can spam blind or weakness. This is the time to learn the general layout of the UW and do some of the quests. Then when you think you are really ready, go in again but this time make a beeline for the chaos plains and do the four horsemen quest first, because it is easily the hardest. If you can beat it, the rest is not too bad at all.

Thanks for all the great advice.

I'm struggling a little today.

I think I'm at the point where I have to use a pre-built skill bar. Having a hard time getting the gift of Djinn and can only destroy 1 of three tenticles in the mission after that.

I think I'll try to finish the campaign before I go taking on the Underworld.

One thing - 6 Heros? You mean if I joined with someone & they left or I can have 6 Heros once I complete the game ?

That would be anytime you go out with someone else and their Heroes or Henchies(if they were leader).

If they Map out, you get the H&Hs to run with, at least, until you Zone. Then they're gone too.

Suicide for new player :P

I suggest you to first finish the campaign and all, then move on and do elite areas. Good luck!

P.s: even though it's doable with heroes, I would suggest you to use 8 human party; much more fun and also easier and faster. Furthermore, to hero/hench it you really need to be experienced

Like other players said, finish the game first. Then Go for it. There are solo builds for UW, but for the first few times you should go with a all human party (heroes are ok but quite frankly most people still need to learn how to flag and control their heroes, and UW is not the place to practice) That way you can follow along with people who know what they're doing, and see the quest progression and get a feel for it. You can get ecto drops all along in UW, that's why most people are there. Also rare items from the chests along the way.

Play as Ursan and get called a noob
or learn the game, the skills, the strategies, and the builds and go in as a compitent player.
for the first all you need is a couple hours in eye of the north
for the second you will probably need to complete a whole campaign and start then start with an insignificant job in the UW
like damage dealing, you will not be screwed if you mess up a couple of times as the dps player
and most times your party will tell you what skills to use and how for damage dealing

The best advice is to get a friend who's done it before to show you how it's done. Also, you won't zone back if one person dies. It's probably referring to if you have someone taking a quest they weren't supposed to take yet, causing a teamwipe, or that if an important NPC dies.

Yes, go with a team which knows how to get around all the badly-designed teamwipe traps. It should be alright as long as the leader knows what he's doing.

Thanks again for the replies.

I'm still not ready to progress in NF, I'm going to get my first explorer title then work on improving my skills.
