I suppose we should nerf Ursan to hell and get back to the traditional "skill based balanced builds" you guys seem to like, that used to form in the elite areas.

Warriors, Eles and Monks only?
I think that sort of balanced is tired out, specially because Tanking is bad.

It's all about the GOLD
|
That's exactly the problem, its NOT about the gold at all. I couldn't care any less about the economy, my point is that without the fun of making cool builds, the game has no interest. Heck, its not even a game then, its just a big ursan gold grind - no thanks, count me out.
I was really hoping that GW would continue its tradition of differentiating itself from games like WoW by not pandering to the grind (which incidentally was their original claim-to-fame). However, as time progresses they have fallen more and more victim to the grind-monster. Grind for points, grind for gold, shut off your brain and become a mindless gw-zombie, play gw while you watch tv, listen to the radio, do your homework, eat dinner *and* take a shower. Heck, just rest a paper weight on the ursan button and afk ftw ... because as long as you are rich at the end, that's fun right?

Apperently a lot of players think so, why else would we have all the bitching about it. (Is that Better?)
No one is stopping you and everyone else who don't like it, from playing the non-Ursan way.
Judging from the amount of players who do use it I would say it's a "best seller" and might even bring in more casual players to the game as the word spreads.
And I bet if you look at who is loudest in the Ursan complaints you will find 80% of them selling and buying in HIGH END

In all honesty they don't. He stated that Ursan was a hit with a lot of people and in the second quote it says no one it stopping you and the other people who don't like it from using your "balanced" team builds.

Areanet created these highly overpowered PvE skills as an incentive to buy Eye Of The North in my honest opinion. The pve elite area/mission 'meta' is sadly now Ursan now which, for the average player without eye of the north, sucks. So much so that they might be convinced to buy it when originally they hadnt planned to...when the sales taper off it will be nerfed into oblivion.

lol yes, Trub, I'm realizing now, all too late, what you meant.
I guess given the posting it is safe to assume that ursan wont be nerfed because very few people value the strategy aspect of the game anymore, in particular, Anet. It seems they have other priorities now and are catering to different audience now. One that is more interested in the quickness of the farm than the strategy of the game. While this saddens me, perhaps it is time for me to find a new game ... it has been years now after all, that seems a pretty good run by any measure. Perhaps my mentality is just a relic at this point and the influx of the new audience who seem to enjoy this other approach is more the majority, I don't know. That's really why I created the thread, to find that out.
Having said that, I did not create the thread to have people out there putting words into my mouth or speculating on my motivations for disliking ursan. Don't tell me that the only reason to like or dislike a skill comes down to economy because that simply isn't true for everyone, although it may be true for some. Perhaps if this is true for you, it is just not within your realm of comprehension that someone else might not care about economic reasons one bit, I don't know. But what I care about is the strategy loss here. I care about having no one to play with in a non-grind environment because it seems most of GW prefers (or has allowed themselves to be bribed into) the grind.
And honestly I don't understand why my opinion on this is so very threatening to some of you. I'm interested in hearing other peoples opinions until they start attempting to silence the voices of those around them with words like "bitching" and "crying" and pointing at others saying they are greed motivated ... sheesh you guys, really ....

The thing that made me hate UB in the first place was, when i finally got into DoA after finishing NF. I did not have EoTN at that time and trying to get into a group as proven to be as frustrating as can be.
I dont really care if people use it or not. Its just that a EoTN exclusive skill is almost a must to do DoA and preventing people without it, a chance to find a group. Some will says that what was use before was a very specific team build in order to succeed and i agree. But it did not require the purchase of a expension to do it.
I tried it once in DoA. I was lucky enough to fine a nice group to add me even if i admitted my newbiness at Ursan (im r7 norn rank). When i ask what else i should bring as skills i was told: ''Whatever you see fit''.While its true that Ursan has made it possible for a lot of players to do DoA (or any other elite zone where it is massivly used), it has close the door to many others that havent purchase EoTN.
I dont think Ursan ruined the game or saved it, but it certainly changed it a lot.

That I can agree with, it is part of the bussines model behind GW,

But in reality you will find it hard to play some areas since certain skills will be a requierment to get in to Pug's, it forces people to buy the new product.

Okay, new unofficial rule of the Delver's leauge:
If you want to talk Ursan Hate/Love, please consider posting it in an existing thread in Riverside. Saves me the trouble of having to close it! :P
Without commenting on the topic at hand, this forum is supposed to be strictly for area questions/discussion and all topics should reflect some sort of strategy being...well, discussed. Talking about how to use Ursan to pwn up some non-thinking/non-feeling mass of computer code is perfectly okay. Telling people that you hate anyone that uses ursan AND their little dog too, probally isn't.
I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm and hopefully we can continue the strong community discussion/debate/arguements unrelated to the 'how' in more appropriate forums.
