Gate of Pain
I am having an issue with this mission. I am trying to H/H it. I have all the NF heroes to this point, as well as the EotN heroes.
I have tried with Dunkoro as a healer, protection monk, and even a minion bomber (aka Sabway). I have tried interrupters, spikers, Sabway (2/3 members and Dunkoro as the third).
I usually take Cynn, Mhenlo, Devona, and Sogolon. I have tried replacing Cynn with the Earth Elementalist as well.
So, after about 20 attempts with varying degrees of success, the question for me is: Is this mission H/H'able? Most of my failures come from my hired help bunching up and getting destroyed by AoE from the Dryders.
Thanks for any help!
(I am a W/P, btw, with the "Godmode" build minus Save Yourselves [haven't finished the faction grind for it yet]).

interrupt more. Brawling headbutt is nice. Also run in first, and have them use all their nukes on you first, then flag your heros in.

My warrior did it with:
Dunk
Gwen (Interrupts)
Vekk (B-Surge)
Sogolon
Kihm
Odurra
Eve
I ran shock axe with shock swapped out for brawling headbutt.

yes it can be done h/h, even in hardmode. the main problem is the terrorweb dryders that keep casting meteor shower. you need to flag your heroes away from where meteor shower hits, because they won't move out of the way on their own. having some sort of interrupt really helps because then you're dealing with at most 1-2 meteor showers instead of 3 when you have do the bonus.

It is a difficult mission. It punishes rushing severely. You have to manage health and energy and aggro tightly. Your flag and a longbow are your closest friends.
One of the tricks to this mission is using monks, and make sure they use fast casting and low energy party healing spells. Having a team made of mostly warriors and monks should do well.
You have demons and dryders cross patrolling most of the area. Watch & lure the patrols separately, and kill each demon quickly (call targets & concentrate fire). A combo of dryders and demons would probably wipe your party.
Lastly use [Lightbringer's gaze] and make sure to display the title for the bonus.

Don't take [[Lightbringer's Gaze], in my opinion. It won't target the Terrorweb Dryders, which are basically the "difficult" part of this mission. Warriors can bring more useful skills in that slot, like an interrupt that actually works on everything.
Try giving Dunkaroo(sp) [[Protective Spirit], and pre-cast it on yourself before you take agro from Dryders. Flag the rest of your party behind you before you go in, and flag them out of AoE during battle, because H/H AI is too stupid to avoid it on their own.
A Ranger hero with [[Broad Head Arrow] + interrupts, or a Mesmer hero with [[Power Block] + interrupts is helpful in this mission.
There are a few threads on this mission; try looking through them for more tips:

This mission is VERY HH-able. It requires you simply do not over-aggro, carry protective spirit, and bring anti-caster stuff. If you are doing the bonus, you must be VERY careful when pulling dryders. Remember to use your flags. Keep your heroes on "guard."
Use protective spirit on yourself (or if a hero carries it, force it to use it on you) before aggroing pretty much anything. Specifically torturewebs. This way, if you fail to interrupt them, they won't kill you in 1 hit.
Melee classes will have the hardest time here, imho. (which, obviously, no one cares about)

You don't need dunkoro. just take a ranger as BHA+savage shot+distracting shot. Carry an interrupt yourself (distracting blow is damn good). Before going in, tab till your target is one from the back. Lock your ranger interrupt hero onto that target. Than you c-space the cloeset one and charge in. When you see them try to get MS off, just interrupt it. You have practically forever and two guys are shut down. You should be able to finish your c-space target quick then mop up the left overs. You could also shove "cry of frustration" onto one of the necros and there's a pretty good chance you won't face MS at all.

You have to have Dunkoro in your party - mission requirement.
[Lightbringer's Gaze] works on the demons (the ones that patrol and the ones for bonus), and on the Tortureweb Dryders (the bosses you have to kill to release spirits), but it does not work on the Terrorweb Dryders (the ones on patrol). This skill also interrupts.

This mission isn't really all that hard, just take a BHA ranger because dazed > PvE.

As said above, it's deifinitely H/H-able. The key is handling the Terrorweb Dryders. Interrupts (other than LG) are critical when facing them.
Outside of that, careful pulling FTW.

Thanks for all the guidance. I actually completed it (masters even) shortly after the first response here. Dunkoro = healy monk, Zhed = spike ele, and Pyre = BHA ranger, + Sogolon, Mhenlo, Herta, and Devona.
The ONLY change I made over the previous attempts with this setup is using Dwarven Headbutt. My original intent was to go into the mission and just DPS everything down. When I decided to actually use the skills I had, it went a lot smoother.
Once again, THANKS!
