I got used to it the second I got on the internet and learned that people like to hide behind the net and act all cocky because they suck in real life.

If it were possible to get to one Campaign to another with only one profession that would be great. Apparently it can't be done, but I think it would be cool to see an E20 (or whatever profession) at Hell's Precipice. The majority of my characters don't use their secondary anyway.

getting to the mainland as a nightfall character without getting a secondary is not possible (as far as i know, and i've tried). getting to the other campaigns is possible: get a ferry to consulate docks, then get ferries to factions and prophecies from there. i have 2 characters that have legendary survivor and they don't have secondaries (one of whom has beaten prophecies), so it can be done.
in the past you could have done it with a factions character. when looking at guild halls, there was a canthan ferry captain that would take you to lion's arch from the warrior isle. from there you could hitch a ride with someone back to cantha (where you would be on the mainland now) and then hitch a ride with someone to istan. unfortunately, anet got rid of that canthan ferry captain sometime during the summer of 2007.

I think I found a neat glitch. I'm lv.9 and still don't have a secondary class. I am a Sunspear General, working towards getting my Commandership.
When I go to the Sunspear Hall place, and buy skills for my heroes, they show up in my skills too! And the great part? They don't even have to be ranger skills! You heard me right. All classes of hero skills that I buy show up in my skill list, and I can add them to my skill bar, and even go out and use them in battle.
Sure, they aren't that awesome since I don't have a place to put points into inspiration magic or strength, but I can still use the skills none-the-less.
I think this is a really cool thing (glitch maybe) that makes completing the game without a secondary class a lot of fun.

Make a NF char and get a ferry to the docks, then to LA and or Cantha. Then play through the game. You can beat proph and factions w/o a secondary if you made a NF char.

I'd worry that once you do get a secondary, all the skills in your non-secondary might get whiped (that's what happens if you grab all the skills in the training area, when you finaly unlock what wasn't your secondary, those skills aren't all there.

The OP's original question is whether you can progress to the NF without getting a second profession, and a lot of posters already said you can't. And that is correct.
The other issue that came up is whether you can do other campaigns without any second profession. For Prophecies and Factions character, this is not possible because you need to get a second profession before you can move the main islands (post searing for Prophecies).
But if you start a character from NF, you can finish two other campaigns (Prop and Faction) without a second profession asking someone to ferry to LA or KC (or both).
Currently, I am playing with a new NF character and I went to LA at level 3. I paid 1k to a player to help me get Olias. Then I went to KC to get the Assassin Hero. So, I have a 4-team already. I was around lvl 5, Koss maybe 3 or 4 and Olias and Zenmai (?) both level 15. I did the easy quest in KC and Marketplace until i made it to level 10 and went to EoTN to get Ogden, then went to Gunnards Hold (?) and played brawling until i made it to lvl 20 and earned my Survivor 1 title.
Then I went back to LA and played the missions and bonuses and now I'm in THK with almost 300k experience (still working on Survivor 2). The fun part is my skill bar because I still don't have any other skills other than the one I got from the tutorial in NF. I beat my mirror using the brawling skill and I got the bonus, too. I beat Glint using Koss' interrupt skill which I manually activate.
In THK now but I don't have internet connection for almost 4 days now due to ISP problem. Hoping to finish Prophesy within the month earning the title Protector of Tyria and Survivor 2. Then, proceed to Faction and finish it, then EOTN and finally NF. I am still lacking 30 points because I can no longer earn points to get a sunspear rank in NF.
I have already finished the 4 campaigns and I am only re-rolling.
So, just like what the other 2 or 3 posters, yes you can finish other campaigns without having a second profession IF YOU HAVE A NF CHARACTER.

you can beat proficies at lvl 2-like 6, then play factions tell lvl 10, beat eotn, and then beat factions all without using or getting a secondary profession. you would need a lot of money and really good and nice people though lol

If this is really true it could be gamebreaking. Having a level 20 character that is able to use several effectively unlinked skills from different classes could be exploited, I think.

If I'm not mistaken you cannot leave pre-Searing without choosing a secondary.

this only works if you haven't gotten a secondary profession. so it's not game breaking since the attribute for that skill will be 0.

you can't. but you can leave nightfall without getting a secondary. you can get to prophecies and factions as a level 2 nightfall character

Some skills don't need attribute points to be effective.

a lot of those you linked to are elite and others that can't be obtained through the hero skill trainer. so, no it would not be overpowering.

a little off topic but recently i saw someone with a similar situation, whilst relaxing in seitung harbour, i saw what i presume was a nightfall created character (name had corsair in it), Profession: R20 Title: Legendary Survivor
althought quite possible, i origionally thought how? maybe farming some low-ish levels (15-18)? thousands of times, but seeing what everyone else has put on this thread, it makes more sense.
cheers for the insight

It's true. I've past that point in my GW life, and since then have gotten a secondary class. What one person said did happen, all the other skills disappeared when I chose my secondary. It was fun, like having an interrupt signet and other cool stuff at the same time, but I quickly got over the little fun of it.

I don't think you could beat NF, but you surely could beat the other 2 campaigns without a secondary. My friend in my guild has a lvl 20 Para with no secondary.
