Another tip: if you have Heroes, make sure they are set to Guard not Aggressive! Otherwise, you'll see Koss leeroy across the radar to attack enemies who (in all likelihood) are not part of the mob you tried to fight, and he'll bring more mobs down on you!
(Devona seems to do this a lot, too! As do the other warrior henchies.)
The entrance to Grenth's Footprint is about half way up Snake Dance, on the East. The pain here is getting through the cave that has 2 Priests of Sorrow - they can resurrect each other, and heal any enemies you end up aggroing! Watch your team, and if necessary pull out!
(A good balanced team should be able to do it. Call target on a Priest, and take them out first! Makes it do-able - otherwise, you'll be stuck there and likely get wiped.)
Good luck!

It looks shorter (and therefore easier) to cut across from Iron Mines to Copperhammer. But, as you've discovered, the # of mobs can make that a nightmare. From Camp Rankor, you'd still have to get thru Ice Dome and then Frozen Forest. Much easier, like I said, to come from the Deldrimor Warcamp. Still plenty of fighting, though, but much easier than those tightly packed mobs in Frozen Forest!

Things to keep in consideration:
1. If you want to pull, try using a Longbow
2. If you feel they are ganging up on one person, use a WoH hybrid
3. Don't be afraid to pull back when necessary
4. You might want to try the Jagged Bomber build
5. Get an Imbagon or if you must, Ursans (boo).

I'll look for you if you're on tomorow. You were posting around the time I was on, but I forgot to look for you. I can probably help you from the Iron Mines to the Copperhammer (not copperhead, I keep thinking that too) Mines.
