Hiya all,

Long time no post!

Just pulling up a query as I've not encountered this before.
Having re-rolled a new Ele over the past five days in Nightfall, I have started to level her through the ranks by doing all the missions etc.

The only problem is taking the Shrine Bonuses for SS points. Since turning level 4 I have not been able to take the shrine bonuses as the NPC's call me a Hero not worthy of such mundane tasks etc. Currently i've progressed to level 14 and am at Blacktide Den. I've got a total of 195 Sunspear Points and still i can not take the shrine bonuses. This is really annoying as I want to get my 15 attribute points faster..

Can any1 shine a light on this, or is it a random wierd bug.

As a character increases in level and Sunspear/Lightbringer rank and Reputation rank, bounty-givers eventually stop offering bounties in order to prevent easy farming for promotion points. The exact rules seem to be complex and are not known in detail. It is believed that the cut-off point is determined by either the average level of foes of the designated species in the area relative to the character level and rank. Another theory is that there are two independent caps, a rank-based cap based on region, and a level-based cap which is applied when all non-boss foes of the appropriate type are too low in level to yield experience. To see and discuss the research of the bounty cutoffs, go to the discussion page.

* The same bounty may no longer be available in one place, but may still be available at another shrine.
* Within the same area, one bounty may no longer be available, but another bounty still is.
* In normal mode, characters are unable to receive any bounties in Istan after reaching Sunspear Commander (rank 6).
* Once you reach Sunspear Castellan (rank 8), you won't be able to receive any Sunspear bounties in normal mode.
* Sunspear and Lightbringer Bounties are always available in Hard Mode, even after reaching the maximum rank.

Hi,

thats all very helpful and that, but you got to realise i stopped getting any shrine activity when my character turned level 4! I had only just got to the astralarium etc.

Cutoffs etc surely sould not affect me this early in game.

Hmm...and what does the game show as your Sunspear rank from the Hero window, just curious.

And another question, just so we are on the same page: are you prohibited from ALL bounties, including Corsair?

And you mentioned that you couldn't get bounties anymore at level 4, but are currently at level 14. Is that accurate? Did I read it right?

In answer to your questions.
My hero window shows my rank as Second Spear (195). All those points have been attained from quests.
All bounties are indeed prohibited. None ever!
And finally, yes, I stopped getting bounties at level 4, but have continued doing missions and quests to get to Lvl 14. (currently at Blacktide Den)

I keep hitting you with questions, but I am trying to isolate the factor of the problem so it can be understood, you know?

Did you previously have a character on this account which attained SS level 6 or higher?

Again, just getting all possible info here...

This is a second account since my original got banned in the January Mallyx Escapades. But yes I'm sure I've has level 6 and above on this account as I got my monk to DoA for dual account farming.

Mre recently though, I have had a 'stay away' period from Nightfall as I've been busily getting my other chars to (LMOTN) title.

Actually, I -think- that once you cross the water to Kourna, you'll start getting bounty again. I could be wrong though.

Thanks buddy, I'll get that far anywho to see if it corrects itself Its just a bit wierd how they won't let me get it now, epic fail as i wanted my 15 point attribs early without having to mundane side quests worth 5ss point ech to get it.

I know that I have stopped receiving bounties from Plains of Jarin and lots of other places, but in Zehlon Reach and Lahtenda Bog, I get them all.

I recently reached Sunspear Commander by staying in the Bog and collecting bounty for Corsairs, bugs, skale, and mandragor.

Thought I'd update on this...

I finally started receiving bounty's when I went to Mehtani Keys, although now I am plagued by the fact I cannot get my char into proph. I have been to Factions and Eotn, yet I can't seem to get into tyria. I have the mission to gain Olias but once accepted I do not get offered a boat ride anywhere.

Never mind, it'll sort itself out.

Edit: make sure you've filled all the requirements. The most likely one seem to be Level 17 OR Sunspear Captain title for the Time Is Nigh quest. You're only level 14, and haven't had many bounties until now, so you probably don't have that quest done.
