I tried with alteast 5 different parties yesterday... and they always die when defending the fort.
Any ideas? I always tell my party to split into 2 groups of 4, but they never listen...

what miskav said. When you trigger the cutscene run off yourself and light the beacons while the h/h are flagged at the king, go to the king yourself go watch the tele for 20mins come back and find the last boss waiting in the middle for you to kill. Easy as that.

Thunderhead Keep Mission
Hi
Its a very easy mission, when you get to the fort area, do not split, once fort has been cleared and the cut scene comes. make sure you designate before hand 2 players to run the torches to light the 2 beacons if you are trying to get the bonus, also stay on top with the king behind you and let the enemy come up the stairs and kill them, ensure that your healers and casters are to the rear of the front line fighters, do not go to the bottom of the stairs, if you follow this , you should get mission and bonus easly, even in hardmode, also ensure you have 2 monks., if you need help, give me a holler, im usally on after 5 pm eastern standard time. ingame name: Gwendolyn Star. or do as miskav said also, if you prefer to afk, but i have had that mess up on me before, cause of possible glitch, not 100 % reliable in my book. lol.

I remember when THK was a nightmare to do... good times.
At this time after h/h were introduce the mission became a joke. I agree that the easiest way is to camp by the king.

THK was once the great Noob filter, with people hanging around for hours begging for monks to join. Monk strikes, people screaming in anger that this was their last attempt before they quit the game, etc. etc.
The sheer thrill of finishing it the first time was something that simply no longer exists in the game....

What they said. Remember after triggering the bonus to camp at king. The key is DO NOT PULL AGGRO!!!
Watch as the bonus Jades kill off a lot of the mobs for you, yawn and kill off whatever comes up the stairs at you.
Some other tips......
Have a backline character talk to the king at the start.
The fight at the intermediate fort is easier if you a) don't rush at the Giants and wait for the Summit patrol to come round and kill that first and b) if you have sufficient casters/ranged characters, you kill the groups on the wall before opening the gate with the king.
Always stay round the king in the final fort. He will demonstrate his inbred nature by wandering off from time to time and getting involved in the action. Keep him safe at all costs.
Before killing the boss and triggering the cutscene' use the catapults to kill off the mobs waiting outside. Lighting the beacon is easier without knockdowns.
When the bosses come, ignore them until you have killed off anything that comes with them, then take them down.
For Dorians group, just gather near the arch and nuke/kill them using it as a chokepoint.
The above works for both NM and HM

Very, very true. I was awesome the first time, and for me, it was a full Guildie group.
OT: Camp the king and watch. It can even be done with a full Henchie party. Badly spec'd Heroes can actually do more harm than good.

QFT.
Camp at King. In some cases, caravan at King. If you're playing with another person, the backliner should take him, since he tends to aggro things rather... well, aggressively, and that can lead to failing the mission since he's not infused.
Some people say using the lovely BIG catapults helps a lot, too, since you can kill off stuff without them getting near the King.

Heroes are definatly the best way as the mission objective is very anti-pug.
Running an offensive spirit spamming Rt is a good way to do the mission with minimal effort. With a well made h/h team you will find the foes enter the fort too slow, leaving you to /dance till they arrive.

THK is still my favourite mission. My first character, a Wammo, was stuck there for 3 months. It wasn't until I joined up with a decent guild that I finally progressed beyond it. I can do the damn thing blindfolded now

haha nostalgia
my first char was a warrior and can't beat THK with pug. so i decided to create a monk. i finished the game first using a monk during the monk strike, i was special coz was always in the party to help them (lol so hard to get a monk that time, almost impossible to get 2.)
but back to topic,
maybe i am wrong but if you have been suggesting to make 2 groups and they are not listening...probably you are the one causing the problem because most likely you are the one running around instead of staying with the team.
so camp with king and be ready to get bored (u will spend most of your time waiting for next wave).
