i agree the eye candy in the forest that is burning as well as the dungeon itself is awesome. I spent close to 3 hours in there because i didn't have my group set up to handle all the burning. and well I may have lost my temper after i had the end boss down to the v in lvl, and died but it sent me to the beacon of draknor FAR AWAY from the boss, not the one right near by, and by the time i ran back, she was at full health again, and just turned my computer off.....

I like that dungeon too, well, if only for the burning forest at the entrance. The rolling ball traps are irritating, I mean, what dungeon designer uses rolling balls? That's so . . . Indiana Jones. lol
The rezzing thing happened to me too, then I realized I had gone left into the boss chamber instead of right, and when I died on the right (as I'm sure everyone will) it popped me in right at his door instead of way off.
I'm not getting the firebombs either. The boss lobs them, but you can then pick them up and use them on him (but do they do anything?). Ah well, got a gold shield I think.

I did that dungeon the first day. Wiped with the boss at like 5% health from a great ball of fire. Luckily rezzed right next to boss entrance but wen back in and henchies bunched up and got murdered. I landed the final blow which was a savage shot that interrupted his Savannah Heat. I got a diamond from the chest.

Catacombs Of Kathandrax..
.. and llsundar, Lord Of Fire.
So i steamroll a fire ele filled dungeon getting to the boss with 10 morale boost party-wide. According to Wiki: standing in the bosse's SH so that it wipes your party, in turn, kills him. Also, combining with BHA he goes down in literally, 5 seconds.
I'm sorry, but i have never known info on the wiki to be so full of shit. I had the interrupt hench - granted, he doesn't use BHA 1st time, but he will long before we wipe - i have pain inverter. So i take the first approach. Slap pain inverter on him, ball up under an SH... wow just half his health gone, pro damage. I walk back from the res shrine, saw him hit with BHA.. but he got his spells off. Time after time i run back, only to be wiped even faster.. 1 liquid flame.
So as time goes on, pain inverter vs a party wipe takes maybe, 1/10th of his bar. Sure i could slowly kill him that way... BUT HIS HEALTH REGENS. I haven't done many dungeons, but this is the ONLY dungeon where the final boss' health regens. It's pretty dam ridiculous.
Not to mention 2 fireballs circulating around that cause a 1 hit party wipe. It leaves a narrow standing spot in order to not be hit by 1, which just means the whole party will go down stupidly fast. Spreading out, as done in the whole dungeon is not an option here. Using H/H i can't watch behind me for a fireball and re-flag, then watch infront for the other 1 coming, then flag again when they go past before the next SH lands.. and do my job at the same time.
Maybe, it would be easier with humans. But PUGS suck. Period.
2 hours down the drain and i won't be going back there again - nor will i trust what's stated on the wiki anymore - i'd just like to know what people used vs him? Caster shutdown would seem obvious, but it didn't work for me *sigh*

The only thing I know we had was a BHA hero. Aside from that, I don't know what the team used, as Ilsundar died too quickly.

I would strongly question any strategy that requires my entire team to wipe in order to defeat one foe when other alternatives are available. In other words, wiki is not always right.
Last time I did this we had a BHA hero and 3 of us were playing W/x and smashing his face. I don't recall it being difficult at all.

Relying on gimmicky tactics is a sure fire way to fail.
Was this HM or NM?
Also - since SH isn't instant death, that might involve healing the party while the damage is dealt to you.

This made me think, I don't remember either. Whatever it was, the boss was dead before I could get my bearings. This was by far the easiest boss to take down.

For me i just ran in on my ranger to absorb the initial few hits, then my team took him down in under 10 seconds or so. No tricks at all, no buffs or special skills to stop his damage, just both monk henchies + my base 100 armor vs fire. This worked in HM an NM.
On the other hand someone on wiki says his health is changed now, which must be the case if pain inverter didn't instantly kill him. He should have taken 640 damage per second with that on, and I'm sure that when I did him he must have had less then 1k health. In which case you should take either a BHA ranger or some kind of party wide protector (Bonder, Spirit rit, Paragon). And if your whole party is dieing to 1 spell cast, work on your positioning please...
Really, if you can survive the triple ele and dual surge mesmer groups on the way, you should be able to survive 1 boss who has less damage output then the total of these groups. I bet had you not suicided and gotten tons of DP you could have beaten him the first try there

that tactic worked like a charm for me on NM, not everyone even died and he died just from SH. im thinking on HM it may not work though if he has more life. so..were you on HM?

I can confirm that he used to be dead easy even in HM. If pain inverter isn't killing him instantly then his health was changed. TBH he was too easy before, I'm guessing they buffed him to be comparable to the remnant of antiquities. More damage but none of the snares antiquities has, water vs fire.

I was there, he just sort of blew up so fast I didn't realize we were fighting him. Less than 5 seconds probably.

This guy died extremely fast for me also, I hero/henched this the first time. On one attempt I played a water Ele and took Maelstrom and a snare. He died before Maelstrom's 10 seconds were up. I wonder if he's much harder in Hard Mode? I've not tried that yet.
I completed the dungeon a second time on my Mesmer (with one other human + 6 heroes) and he went down similarly fast. The part of this dungeon I always found tricky was the Flame Djinn. Heroes and Henchmen don't seem to understand "group up please"...they flee the Flame Djinn. When I played through as Ele I think we managed to trap the Flame Djinn so killing him was pretty easy, but when I went as Mesmer it got so frustrating we coinsidered quitting out...as he would go pick on a lone-hench for an almost insta-kill. In one last ditch attempt we backed off a bit (so I could dramatically crack my knuckles) and went at him again. I managed to interrupt almost all his Consuming Flames and in the end it was gg Mr. Djinn. Silly Heroes...

I attacked him from behind so the rolling fireballs completely went past my group. Also Zho did get a BHA off and turned him into a joke

I did this dungeon few days ago in HM and the boss died almost instantly with pain inverter.
No party wipe and no problem with fireballs since you can avoid them as it is mentioned before.
2 human players and 6 heroes.

Just to clarify, it was NM not HM.
It just seems for everyone that he blew up, which was what i was expecting (as had happened with all the bosses i killed en route..). I just don't know why normal caster shutdown / pain inverter didn't kill him. The first time, as i said we balled in SH and took half his health with pain inverter. I ran back, took him to about 1/4 health. But then everytime after that we didn't get to touch him before wiping, and his health just regenned back up
I also found it odd that, no matter how many times we wiped, Livia still had 10% morale boost I mean, she could've been hit by the fireballs etc, but not everytime!! And it couldn't have been death pact preventing her collecting DP as we didn't have time to res anyone.

I tried this dungeon Hesterday aswell, All was going well till we came to the boss..
All people here say use Pain inverter He die's in 5 seconds >.>
Well first off Sh took him to half his hp.
When we went back he regened to 75% already, we tried again Boom One hit team Kill Because of Liquid flame ( Hero didnt have enough time to Bha him >.>)
Then we basicaly got wiped 15 times and decided to quit.

Using BHA against eles you really need to send in the ranger ahead of the rest of the party. The arrow travels extra slow, so the boss will often see your group and have time to get a spell off before it hits. With powerful ele bosses that often means a partial wipe if you're carrying any DP at all, at which point hench and heroes stop attacking to use res skills, the daze interrupt effect doesn't get triggered at all and the rest of the party goes down.
