Raven Blessing and Darkrime Delves
I've been trying for a couple weeks to complete Darkrime Delves in HM with pugs. Typcally, when i even find a group, its been an Ursan group with 2-3 HB monks, and it always seems that we get whipped on the first level. The Juton destroy us.
I got to thinking about why we are always wiped, aside for being pugs. IMO the strenght of UB is the KD's and the spread of weakness along with the raw damage. But the Juton's can't be knockdown. In fact they always seemed to knock us down which makes an Ursan practically useless if you're on your back.
So why not use Raven Blessing for this Dungeon? Granted the raw damage is lower, but Raven Talons (#1) causes bleeding and crippling (degen is always good), Raven Swoop (#2) does 60-100 dmg to foe and all adjacent foes, Raven Shreik (#3) removes blindness from allies (always a problem in a melee heavy group) and causes blindness to foes (Juton's can't KD if they can't see), and Raven Flight (#4) is a stance that prevents you from being KD.

Giant Stomp isn't a "need to hit" attack. So yes, Jotun *can* knock you down even if they can't see. But Raven Flight should alleviate some of that.
Personally, I would choose something like [don't trip] or [ward of stability] over a bunch of ravens. You could even set up an earth ele with [eruption] too, if you wanted blind. I went with the earth ele setup and that left the other 7 to fill out a nice party (MM, nukers, healers, what have you).

Giant Stomp?
[pain inverter] and minions and watch the diaper boys go POUF!!!
Also, that little wussy ebon sin [Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support] is great at taking first aggro when used properly.
My set up for Vekk
[build=Vekk Master Warder;OgBCkMzjq7U0VTFIDjxrAWA]
Earth magic+3
Energy storage+1
He might not do a whole lot of dmg, but he prevents a lot of it.

Ursan sucks versus Jotuns! YAY! Looks like you and your pugs might have to use more than 3-fingers to beat them. BTW raven is very ineffective compared to traditional builds.

I would much rather use a traditional build as opposed to any of the Norn Elites but it's next to impossible to get in a group, and guildies aren't always available.
I guess I will just H/H using a Triple Chop / SY build and some of the advise I read in this and another thread. Seems more reliable than an inexperienced pug.
Thanks for the imput.

So ursan doesn't work and your first reaction is to use a different blessing? Maybe we should think outside the box for once...
My guild does this dungeon in HM a lot, and we have never run anything too special. The only skill we consistently take is prot spirit. Our runs usually go fine. Try a balanced team

I think the point he is trying to make is since the only groups he can FIND are ursans, perhaps he can try to convert them to use a different blessing since getting 7 people with good builds in a pug is hard. Not a bad idea but I suggest finding an active pve guild to help you out there bro

well Ursans suck in my view its just that simple. they don't have any sinagy(however you spell it) yeah i know i'm going to get flamed for this. i would really try some out of the box thinking. I have been in many an Ursan groups that the U-users die before me and I'm a W/E. i understand the power of Ursan its like a gun in real life. Ursans seem to do way better when its not a full team of them. if you still want to go Ursan then just start a group where everyone is not an U-user. just my 2cents.

Darkrime is one of the easy dungeons and in all honesty i H/H it in HM with out a proplemo. Blindspam PI I am unstopable and prot spirt pretty much gets the job done.
SV can be used rather well in this dungeon so i have heard it is not one of my most fave skills however.

Best. Advice. Ever.
The strength of the Jotun doesn't lie so much in the KD as is the raw damage they put out. KD can be easily countered. Things like [ward of stability] and [i am unstoppable] easily negate this. Hell, even [dolyak signet] is effective (just don't plan on moving ).
However, when you have monsters that can consistantly do upwards of a 200+ pts. of damage with life stealing on top of that, you have a problem. The best skill you can take is [protective spirit], no matter if you're running balanced or Ursan.

I heard there were these things called [Distracting Shot] and [Savage Shot]...
Seriously, just interrupt Giant Stomp... it's a what, 3 second cast? 2 in hard mode?
As for their high damage.. they don't have any condition removal so [Enfeebling Blood] usually does the trick. Minions + prot spirit also pretty much negates all their damage. [Blinding Flash] is good too.
Life stealing.. well that isn't really a problem since life stealing doesn't scale with level.
