Arne brings forth a great point! :P
I've made it to the spiders like maybe 3 times now.. (grumble) because i cant get past the skales. I can take on 6+ driftwoods and what-not easily along with doubters, but 1 skale owns me.
I need help....

Lol that reminds me. I use the same sword for regular PvE and this except my normal is a Crafter 15^50 and my FoW is a collector 15% stance.. Both with Zealous/Shelter.
I was spamming in LAD1 one night looking for +30 Hammer Haft, Zealous Sword upgrades, and Shelter sword upgrades... I got pmed by at LEAST 5 different Koreans giving me the casual "5k you buy???"
I got it 5 mins later for 1k but.

Healing Signet is your friend. I feel I could take on 3 Scale at once, but I havn't tried. I like working my way through the whole cave then trying to run past the Infernal Drakes and whatnot. That = death to me. Lol.

As racthoh suggested somewhere, try not to let your health go below 200hp, I personally start to cast healing signet when i get to about 250(1/2) my health...
Sometimes ive noticed I overheal just out of habit, Thats something to watch out for as well...

The skills are blocked out so some newbs in my guild that I don't like can't copy this build, as they've copied my 55 builds along with my other Warrior's build.
P.S. Lol btw I didn't mean to run into the whole cave mouth full of ACS but those pesky Scale were on my tail with their -10 life regen so I took my chances and pwned all the spiders and saved my tail. :]
P.P.S. Look at the Godlike default interface. Darn I am so cool!

whats the big deal? i run trough the cave, killing all dryders with a agro of probably 30 spiders. then i sit back and kill em all.

well if it were just a few scales it wouldnt be so hard. But when im fighting a group of driftwoods, then a skale aimlessly walks into the aggro....i wait till cripple is off then sprint and bolt. Only get about 6 feet.
Do the driftwood spam protectors spike if you put up sprint, even if your not running? It seems so...like they always know when im getting rdy to run.

That was my second run in about 3 months. I used to solo FoW on occasion with my male Warrior but I only use him for PvP and I use my female for PvE.

I don't think so. Mark of Pain and SS should wear out before you finish them off. I suggest you try it out first. -_-
I did it and got an obsidian shard from one of them. Believe it, or not. But hey, I'm not forcing you to try it. Have fun doing it your way.

lol nice to see ppl still trying this out, i have to say since i started using this run its paid for itself many times over, average 3-5 shards per run, countless gloom seeds & spider legs ( which pay for the entry )and the odd gold item thrown in for good measure ( tho not that many decent ones to be honest ).
As for the skales, yeah they can be a pain, wot with their aimless wandering and the occassional bad spawn but 9/10 you can get past em by looking ahead and sprinting to that nice little safe spot.
Oh and wot is it with the spiders and Blue dye lol, must of had 20+ blue dyes of them recently, guess its their favorite color

The big deal is that Captain Arne is pro. That means he brags and brags about doing what most of us can already do; then, when nobody shows the least sign of being impressed, he starts making grandiose claims about how he could kill the Skales too if he wanted but can't be bothered. At no point will he explain what he's doing that makes him or his build so different from the rest of us - most likely because he's using exactly the same W/Me skills we've been discussing for X pages - and he has no intention of ever providing any help or advice for those of us who can't make the run. That's what pros do, you see.
Back on topic. Runs are currently taking me between 60 and 70 minutes, depending on how crappy the beach and cave mouth spawn are. I have the required weaponry, I'm killing as quickly as is realistically possible and using Healing Signet as little as I can. Then I see people saying it takes 45 minutes to complete a run - which I'm presuming is from entering the FoW to reaching the far end of the cave, correct me if I'm wrong here. (There are more grandiose claims, but see above.) Where is this extra speed coming from?
One thing I know I'm not doing is using Superior runes. That puts my Tactics at 13 and my Axe Mastery at 12 after minors and helm have been applied (I need Strength 9 for my shield). The loss of the Tactics rune means my gap between heals is 17 seconds instead of 19; OTOH, the extra health is worth a full heal cycle's worth of time at the start of each fight. Overall, I'd say it accounts for about 40% of the slowdown - but only at the cave mouth. Inside the cave, I should be losing perhaps two minutes total for this.
That still leaves seven minutes to be accounted for. Most people seem to run weapon skill of 14 to my 12. Would this generate a 16% increase in killing speed?

I'm using the standard W/Me Axe build: Cyclone/Cleave/Penetrating/Executioners, WY!, Phys Res, Heal Sig, Sprint. My weapon is a collector's Zealous of Shelter +7, 15% stance, customised. My shield is -2 stance/-2 hexed, I have Superior Vigour and Absorb runes and am using Glad's armour with Knight's Boots and a +1/+1 Axe Helm.

Are you being hit for more than -0 occasionally? And during Healing Sig? I found that turning all the -1s into -0s made all the difference since I didn't have to heal as often (all the 2 second Healing Sigs really do add up).

Occasionally I'll be hit for -1 or -3 using Sig, but that's when I'm being hit in the head or feet with a critical. However, there's absolutely nothing I can do about it - I already have the best armour and the maximum absorption when fighting ACSs.

You should prolly snag the Crimson Carapace Sheild from the collector, even though I run dual -75hp Superior runes, every little bit helps I guess. More so though so you can take all those points out of Strength. I'm down to running a 10 second sprint, and it can be done with a 9 second Sprint also. I run the axe at 15, and tactics at 15, with the extra points spread between Str & Insp(two lines you could really get away with having 0 points in either).
Are you grouping the spiders up? I try to get as many together as possible, and then beat each one down enough, and get the timing right so one last cyclone could possibly drop half a dozen spiders at once. Maximize your adrenaline gain by keeping them alive as long as possible. If you're fighting 3, beat on one until he gets real low on health, then switch to the next one. That way your cyclone axe always gets as much adrenaline as possible, to charge up that next spike for the fresh spider. It seems pretty basic to me, but I notice people I take down with me don't see to do it. They kill the spider they start on everytime it seems..
