my only problem with dualing it is that its hard enough to pass the skales as is, nevermind with another aggro bubble running around you cant control

Is it just me, or did they increase the number of scales and patrols in the area? Also the shadow patrols sometimes come w/ SS and alot more active, actually got screwed w/ 2 bad spawns.

Good to hear it's not just me. Two runs today: first one went horribly - two overlapping Skale patrols at the start, died miserably on the beach. Second run - one stationary group of Skales at the "safe spot," another group at the other side of the beach and yet another at the inlet just before the ghost (plus a Skale patrol near there too). Bad luck or nerf?

Bad luck.
No problems at all for me getting to the cave on two separate runs today. Actually got more Shards from the Driftwoods than from the ACSs... =/ Once again, it's just luck.

5 shards, 1 ruby, 2 keys, and a rare shadow bow tells me that this is still a great way to get gold. It *looked* like there were more skales, however I never do count the number of stationary groups of 3 since they're usually out of the way. From what I can tell there are 3 "wandering" groups. The first is always at the first part where the shadows come down. The second can be anywhere between that spot and the spider cave. The third past the cave and out of your way.
That was the run I did today. But I know there have been times when there have been more wandering skales. The dryders and driftwoods all follow set patterns, but the skales are always different in both their spawns and wandering paths.

thnx Racthoh, great guide. I dusted off my warrior and got 6 shards and a gold chaos axe on my first run. There was one group of annoying scales that visited the entrance of the cave in their patrol. They almost screwed me over. It is a challenging and rewarding place to farm, especially with the prices of shards going up.

Last night I had the best spawn ever, after killing the driftwoods ran to the
cave without using sprint, I was shocked, was wondering if anet was feeling
sorry for America not having favor much, lol.......
Got 3 shards, 2 keys, and a sapphire, there were no chests anywhere over
there, kind of strange.

It seems that the skales are moving around closer to the safe spots on certain spawns. I've had several spawns where it was close to impossible to get to the cave. Make sure you observe clearly before you sprint past the first group. There is usually two different safe spots in each area. Sometimes it is best to pull the Driftwoods before you sprint past the first group of skales.

Hey -
lucky you are stationed in europe so you get to do this more often.
Man I am seriously beginning to think that the chests on this run only drop caster items, and the occasional bow. At times there can be two chests in the cave, and sometimes a chest on the beach or the entrance to the beach. Well now that I think about it, the majority of the professions use some sort of staff or rod. I am in the process of taking record of all the chest drops that I am getting.
It was a night or two ago, I also got a Sapphire. First time too- I got it from those Driftwood fellows. These guys are the jackpot guys; they drop rubies, sapphires, shadow blades, shards and whatever else. I have never seen a spider drop a ruby or saph even though there are a greater number of them.
Here is a random tip: when running from the skales, make sure you don't get too close to a group of DWoods. They have that hamstring or whatever attack that slows you down. I got too comfortable and was hit from one of these guys, and the skales caught up to me and overwhelmed me tho I stopped to heal.
I also did what I think it was 'Seef' mentioned, and I lured the shadow mob to the skales so they could have a royal rumble, but then the DWood guys came by to say 'hi' to the skales like they always do, and ended up dying. You gotta lure the DWood guys away from the fighting, or else they'll end up jumping in, getting themselves killed.

Did 16 runs today. 13 were succesful. Got 48 shards, 2 gold chaos, 1 gold rec 8 blade. I currently have a build that can kill 2 of the skales along with the spiders. The problem is that third skale. If u want to know the build message me in game sometime and if im not busy i will take u on a run and show u. As for dueling me and a guy named Crazywarrior ofdoom can succesfully run it in about 20 minutes. Then we have fun doing a mach chest run after we are done if we dont decide to kill the shadow warriors and monks. the 2 farms i messed up in the shadows followed me all the way to the mouth of the cave. along with all of the skale. That run ended badely. 2nd one i failed on i had just helped someone with a mission and accidently put ele resis instead of phy resis on. 3rd one i got a shard each from the first 3 guys you kill and diddnt feel like doing ne more of that run.

Man.... how do you guys get those kind of runs. I usually get about 1 shard and 1 key on a regular run. and plenty of runs with nothing but shadow bows / shadow staffs / and corrosive spider legs. I kill all the driftwood, dryders, and spiders and a few shadow beast afterward... maybe these spiders just hate me...

Yeah, I know how you feel. Last 6 runs I was averaging about half a shard, odd key here and there, 1 sapphire. Tonights first run got me 5 shards, 2 keys, and a near perfect Grim Cesta. Req 8, +1 Death(19%), 9% chance to halve all spells. It's all luck, some bad some good.
Missmelady, you are insane. How do you find the time(and patience) to do 13 runs(in a row?)? I take it you're in Europe.

Think I mentioned that I only do one run at a time per day unless I'm showing people. Gives the anti-farming code plenty of time to reset. I figure it's probably better to do one run at a time that generates 25k~ per day just for sake of knowing I can do it still.

Successful run today. Getting to the cave was no biggie - all it takes is practice! If I had means of recording a movie of my average run to the cave I would. No good drops though, I got a garbage gold bow and a req13 spiky warhammer. No shards, 1 key.
I think today's run was the most beautiful lure of shadow into skale I've ever done. 2 shadow warriors, 2 shadow beasts, 2 shadow monks vs. 3 skales is not even fair.
