Is there a guide around anywhere or in this thread for getting to the forest and soloing the forest. I have been doing this for a while now and it has been very successful. Lately shards have decreased for me. I usually just farm the beach and the cave with the axe build then die but i would be intrested in learning about the woods as well if anyone could post a link or info on this then thanks

I just cant do this at all. The hardest part is the run itself. EVERYTIME I am forced to run though the Skales which isnt so bad but everything behind it is also agroed. How are you guys getting around this problem? Combine Life Transfer, Life Siphon and Wastrel's Worry im ******.
I must waste over 5k before I manage to even get to the beach once. I could have paid for a shard with that! Yes im getting stressed!
If im not getting busted by the skales is the crap spawn where Rastigan the Eternal takes agro.
*Edit*
Second try tonight, found a clear path of no scales and just said **** it ill run though everything else. Still managed to take agro of the scales somehow and ended up with Life Transer on me. Game Over. This place makes me look a right noob. It's so shameful.
The video of someones example run here made this look so easy, were they doing something right or were they just damn lucky in that run?

ok basically in my point of view is scales on the beach have been upped and more now appear. Only advice i can give you is not to wear leuitenants helm while there is a dryder cause wastrels worry will go quicker and also make sure your second armour set has no superiors so more health. I used to get pwned by skales but the way i found around it is to lure them dryders and them wooden looking things then run past skales and when out of view keep spamming healing sig.

I haven't noticed an increase in the skales, and yes pretty much everytime I do the run I get Life Transfered/Siphoned + WW. If it helps, take another piece of armour where you have your superior rune and craft another piece without one in it. Have +health gear (since you're taking a lot of damage from degeneration) when you're running as well.
And if you're not stopping to use Healing Signet for some reason (cannot stress this enough, LOOK where you're going to be running for a safe spot to stop and heal) then expect to die. You don't run from the part with the first driftwood to the entrance to cave all in one go, and I thoroughly hope that isn't what people are doing. You should be running past that first group of skales, stopping where the two dryders are and healing around that area. Kill them and the driftwood there, then move on to where the Admiral is. There is a lot of space there, and you should be able to easily find a place to stop.

The first time I did this (20 minutes ago) I got 3 shard drops from the 3 Driftwood mobs I fought (1 from one group and 2 from another), but then I died to the spiders. Oh well, atleast I can buy a Zealous Axe Haft now :P

No offence, but if you need to know that you're in the wrong thread. It's a skill you should have grabbed when you first saw it without thinking.
I agree with Racthoh - the people who aren't making the run are failing because they aren't making proper use of safe spots (I found a new one, BTW; there's an empty space on the other side of the big rock that's in front of you as you run down the hill onto the beach). They may also be treating it as a run, in that they don't attempt to kill anything on the way.

It is not totally true, the safe spot can be occupied by skales sometimes.
I haven't successfully pass the skales to go to the cave, without killing all mobs beside skales. the run is easier and you can have shards , after that it is easier to return to the forest.
I'm using a knight armor set.

If you have enough money to do this run, why are you wearing Knights Armor?

If I had been farming this quite heavy lately and new that the Anti-farming was coming soon. Could you just farm untill a point then die? Would that count as you just leaving only to return and farm again? Or does it count?
If it counts I guess I'll have to stick to the crop rotation

I stand around for like an hour and do something else, go do a mission or arena or something. I don't know how much that really helps, but it should.
I guess realising that you aren't a Shard Factory might help and just take things a step at a time.

Well what helps me a lot, is ALWAYS watch your radar\aggro bubble.
As the main man says, run\stop\heal. I never let my health get below 200 before i stop and heal. It can get quite frantic beating on 6 Driftwoods and watching that wandering scale getting very close to the circle. Sometimes it just goes wrong and you have to accept it. I can get 2 failures in a row, then nothing goes wrong on the next 10 If you end up in scale range you will get life syphon and transfer (-11 degen) no matter who you are (if using the `general` build)

typically, I get about 1 shard and 1 key on this run killing all the spiders and the driftwood. My best run netted me around 4 shards, but I am seeing a decrease in the amount of shard dropped there. (got....those 0 shard 0 keys, 0 gold item runs makes me angry...) Time to see how crop rotation works...

Racthoh --- THANKS
I just finished my first solo run and what a rush! Can't say it was the best drops, but I did make over 3P after selling. I got 1 Shard, 2 Purples, 5 Blues and 4 Keys. Unfortunately I did not find any chests. I went looking but died fighting. Was going to include a screenshot but couldnt figure out how.
Again thanks for the info & help!

just tried this 2 man working with staggered 'shields up'
Its fast, damn fast, and with 'watch yourself' you're at +70 armour vs the buggers all the time.
Not sure if dual running is time effective as I didn't time how quickly it took us to get through the cave. I don't think you'll cut the run in half, but you never know.
