Well, it would be wise to say what you don't get, but here's nothing...
The Hero Guidebook, like it's dungeon counterpart, is a book you can have in your inventory when doing mission (or dungeons for the dungeon book). As you do them, the book will get filled out, as long as it is in your inventory (if it is not, you can pay 100g to fill a page).
One page is filled per mission or dungeon.
Once the book is at least half-way filled, you can turn it in to one of the four Reputation NPCs that are in EN for gold, experience, and reputation points. The more pages filled, the more money experience and reputation you gain.
Don't really think there's much more to it...

As you do missions or dungeons in nm or hm if that book is in ur invent it fills in the appropriate slot. When half full or more it can be handed in for an amount of points to that reputation title. Points increase depending on how many done. If it isnt in ur inventory when u do the mission, can get it put in for 100g. And thats about it...

The Hero's Handbook, as was already stated is a book to keep track of Missions in Eye of the North.
The Master Dungeon Guide is a book to keep track of the dungeons completed.
You can fill in a handbook as was stated above.
The reputation you receive depends on which faction you give the books to.
Why does this matter? Well once you a particular rank in a particular faction's title, certain benefits become available.
At Rank 1 in each track you can acquire a skill,
At Rank 3 you can purchase consumables
At Rank 4 you can purchase weapons
At Rank 5 you can purchase Elite Armour unique to that faction.
Plus when you gain the full title you can display it in your HoM. It's really all good fun. If you're curious about any of this, ask around, read the wiki, browse the forums and decide what you want to accomplish.
