First Time playing Hard Mode, a little advice and help please.
Hi All
I am playing the following bar at the moment for my monk.
[Word of Healing]
[Dwayna's Kiss]
[Aegis]
[Shield Of Absorption]
[Dismiss Condition]
[Cure Hex]
[Protective Spirit]
[Reversal Of Fortune]
Its working OK, still trying to figure out the finer points of being a monk, unfortuantly when it comes to Hard Mode, I just dont cut it. I have tried numerous times on "The Great Northern Wall" and I just dont get anywhere. Whats the secret to hardmode, lol.
I now have the following heroes.
Tahlkora
Koss
Dunkoro
Melonni
Olias
M.O.X
Vekk
Ogden Stonehealer
Do I have a good enough selection of heroes to go up against Hardmode Phrophicies? Anyone with any tips or suggestions and maybe some hero builds to get me going would be appreciated.
Cheers
Druid

Yeah, it's a lot easier if you run Sabway, which is three Necro heroes: a Spiteful Spirit Curser, a Necro/Rit healer, and a Minion Master. So, my suggestion for you is that you go through Nightfall until you can get Master of Whispers and then go through Eye of the North until you get Livia. Then, get the required skills and gear and enjoy smacking the crap out of Hard Mode.

Try discord,3 necros as well, but better built for spike damage. Build's are on heroes & AI page here on guru.

My personal favourite is paraway since it works as well in the places where there are less corpses:

Unfortunately you would need to get quite far in NF and GWEN to get both paragons and you should have SY! as well. Obtaining two remaining necros for Discord or Sabway will be much faster.

Really, the hero AI is good enough at healing..just go with Assassins Promise,Pain Inverter,Finish Him! and Ebon Vanguard Assassin then some prots(aegis/prot spirit/what ever.) then just use the Discord builds showed above.

Hi
Thanks for the replys, hmmm looks like I am going to have to get some more Necros then, will take me a while as I have only gotten to Eye Of THe North and only done two quests in Nightfall.
As for the following Assassins Promise,Pain Inverter,Finish Him! and Ebon Vanguard Assassin, will take me a good while to get them.
Cheers

you should also consider going smite if you are going to do it h/h. you will be able to control aggro better that way. as stated above h/h healing is good enough, and i also agree on the the 3 necro concept as a general concept, but you will have to be flexable and modify your team build for different areas.

You could try Olias as a Discord MM, Melonie as a Ebon dust aura Derv and Vekk as a warder/curse.
Given the heroes u got, that's about all i can think of.

Monk is pretty much the worst class to do HM with.

Hi Turin, to be honest, Monk wasnt a class I ever considered up until now, but I wanted to try something different to what I am used to playing. I also have to admitt that I have only ventured a few times into Hard Mode with my other characters, a vanquish here and there when bored. So yep I may be jumping in the Hard Mode deep end :-)

I have recently been doing hm on my monk (going for titles now) and I find that it is very boring as I often find myself doing nothing (I am a prot monk btw). I usually go with sabway or my own hero team build thats not finished quite yet but still works. In low level areas such as ascalon in proph or "newb island" in cantha or elona I literally do nothing except flag my heros to the enemies and let them fight while i map or get a bounty or pick up items.
So anyway my point is, take sabway if you can and bring yourself with prtoection (prot spirit | s.o.a.| r.o.f. | and some hex/condition removal) and then the rest damage like pain inverter and or ursan.

if u just want to do HM for better drops, not necessarily titles, i would recommend 55'ing or 600/smiting. You can do a lot of HM Elona and tyria (including UW) by 600/smiting ur way through. go NM to pick up needed skills (nundu bay mission for spellbreaker, for example), and visit pvxwiki for 55 and 600/smite builds, or there's lots here to read about methods and places to do that. My monk is relegated to farming, so that's as much as I can offer..monking for the sake of healing/protecting others is rather boring imo...

I found that in HM, I could run an MM, SS curses necro, and ditch the N/Rt healer in place for more damage. As a monk, I'd prefer to have a ranger/cruel spear paragon/hammer hero, rather than wasting a valuable hero spot on extra healing, when I could do the job myself.

Definitely not your build that shit works real well(mine is almost same if not identical)...just run SS necro, necro rit healer, and a bomber MM.

Your build is almost ok, although I think you have the skills in a wonky order, but whatever. You should drop Dwayna's for GoLE, you'll need e-management. Pop off GoLE before you fire Aegis, and then you'll have a freebie Prot Spirit you can use as well.
You should be able to handle the healing by yourself for GNW. Use your spells appropriately, don't just spam them. Monk requires split second decision making, but that bar covers the bases well, just use them right.
Take a MM (crucial for ALL the Ascalon areas), a Warrior hero and then either a Splinter-Barrage Ranger hero or a Triple-Heat Fire Ele or a SS/Anti-melee Necro hero.
Sabway is not required, in fact, I'd NOT recommend it for a player-Monk. You need to LEARN your character, and having an uber-healer does nothing but make you lazy.

Lately I've been using Norgu with VoR instead of Curses guy.
It's especially delightful to see monks healing themselves and losing 1/4 their life while doing it.
As for your avaliavable heroes, take Olias as MM (I'd say Jagged bomber MM because you lack of more necro heroes), either Koss as Earth Shaker or Melonni with Wounding Strike, and try to get a mesmer hero for the VoR lulz.
IMO take Foul Feast in your necro and take Mending Touch to use it on him.

Agree. You might consider swapping the last skill in your bar for Glyph of lesser energy tho.
edit: Just saw Carinae`s post.. Never (and really never) should you drop Dwayna`s kiss from your bar. It`s by far the best heal after WoH. Unless you pack a prot only bar, which is bad too in it`s own sense.
