Easy to test anything in the game when you have every skill and class in the game available at all times. As the e3 demo of GWEN showed the dev tools. I'm sure they have the idea of a perfect build using paragons and ritualists and stuff. But GL getting those through the first 4 quests to even get to mallyx.

Congratulations on beating Mallyx head on.
I would like to comment on Elite missions in general.
One of the reasons you see standard team builds for these elite missions is if a team build is proven, the probabily of team success is much higher, so in a long time investment quests people do not want to fail and just want to play the game. If everyone kinda knows what builds are needed the team building and organization before hand is shorten and PUG teams are generally possible. If people just joined with hoj-poj skills on a difficult elite mission the likelihood of success is pretty poor and disapporintment and discouragment ensue.
The most difficult roadblock for most in elite missions is getting into a team or forming a team. That is why many that want to play elite missions join Guilds that play these so they can get into teams. Most PUGs do not want to mess around with experimenting with team builds, so if you are experimenting with builds you are either taking a few close guidies or heros.
Of all the things in GW I think the Developers should give some thought for GW2 is how folks can quickly have complimentary builds for the team on particular missions. I find it more work than play to match up all the skills of a team or come up with a good team build. Once you find one that works well you want to stay with it because its so much work to get there. Some may find this fun and challenging, so all I ask of you is to post those successful builds for me to use, because I just want to play the game and have some fun.
I have notice that many folks now are just farming DOA as all you see is Famine teams, so in general they are not intending to do the quest, but just to get some drops. Which proves the point is that if a build works folks will tend to just use and and play the game for there tactics and goals, which in this case is farming gems.
My point here is if you have a team made of 2 rangers 2 monks 1 warrier 2 mesmers and 1 paragon there may be several optimum team builds that one should consider depending on the tactics they want to employ in that area. So the team decides on the tactics and then choses the team build and the characters fill out the team with these builds. I think it would speed the game to have some team builds selections depending on the character mix and tactics the team wants to employ. This could help all classes to quickly join teams and get on with playing the game and not selecting skills, etc.

Well the bug fix was the main issue, although not sure why they decided to lower the damage of Shadow Smash. It really won't make a difference.

the mallyx fix, if he's truly fixed, comes WAYYYYYYYYYY to late to be of consequence, now that the next game is on the verge of coming out
day late, dollar short, and the armbraces are nothing to want to associate with now
anet, don't keep shooting yourselves in the foot like this. I'm sure a lot of time went into designing DOA and all the quests, only to totally turn off the vast majority to it due to bad programming

any change is better than no change. but honestly many ppl expected smth better - if DoA quests are harder than the deep/urgoz, why the chest rewards are so crappy? if we'll get a chance (hovewer small it'll be) of getting say gold stygian reawer or runic blade or stormbow or [insert rare-skinned weapon here], DoA will get 2-4 districts full most of the time, right now its a miracle if the only dis is half full, i got no idea how players from small guilds manage to make groups now... considering that on NM all areas are quite easy after all updates, its a waste dont u think? mallyx greens are practically unsellable (well u can sell the axe and the sword, but thats about it), and ppl who used to do citadel runs often got so many mesmer offhands/monk wands alrdy its not even fun to spend more time getting some toys for heroes
my guild havent tryed new citadel yet - we're vanquishing and waiting till we'll get reconnects back, lag's rly bad atm. but quite a few of my friends attempted citadel, some groups gave up eventually after few d/c, couple groups got to mallyx but still got killed. i hope we'll get reconnects back sometimes soon, it would be nice to give updated citadel a try be4 all our alliance move to GWEN dungeons channeled rit got nerfed right when we decided to run rit instead of 1 of the eles
@jason: just tank it, u can grab some heroes and try to find human sb and damage dealers and u'll be fine. if u want to run balanced build u can bring hero bonder, bip and mb hb, NM is so easy now u can do it. i monked for paragon tankscouple times, it wasnt bad.

grab and go. Except for in veil where we have a symbiosis + enchants. Our paragon normally just runs TNTF, Expel Hexes... some shouts. Nothing fancy, he certainly doesn't tank.
